Even Russian sources are saying that there are less than 3k ukies left in Bakhmut itself. The big fights are happening on the flanks as we speak

This is hilarious. Russia is gonna completely break themselves on bakhmut and it's not even the last city in donetsk oblast to capture

Bakhmut isn't fundementaly important. However it is best to wring from Russia as high a cost as you can while minimizing casualties. Ukraine offensives will come when Ukraine is ready and when and where it is smart to attack. Don't be wasteful.

Because officially Wagner casualties are NOT counted as Russian Armed Forced casualties, if 5000 Fagners die that number won't be ever presented as RF loses so there's no need to hide it, unlike with regular troops loses.

Yeah convicts shouldn’t count, Wagner is extremely based for using penal battalions if we only we were so but also we’ve done it in burgerland too our deaths are something like 130k if you include vet suicides lmao

At this point you just abandon the city. Ukraine has already over-invested in its defense. Get more mileage out of better defensive positions further northwest.

When Ukraine abandons they'll retreat to the actual defensive line (the idea was Bakhmut falling after like a week or two, then holding at that line; Russia got bogged down harder than any one expected LMAO)

Hopefully the ukranians are inflicting disproportionate casualties because otherwise I cant see a reason why they kept reinforcing Bakhmut so long.

The more resources they invested in it the more symbolic importance for losing it would have. You can say the city isnt important on an operational scale but it will give the Russia a morale boost since they can still advance even against full might of hato zionist nazis

assuming everything else is equal (it won't be, but ok), it's harder to retake a town than defend it. what's more, the highway is logistically useful.

        Anonymous

I believe a lot of that has to do with how intact a city is, because every building can offer protection while attackers tend to be more exposed. As a city gets more bombed theres less advantage in defending it, things get closer to what a battle in an open field would be. At such points you must retreat.

If they are using proper tactics, they will pull back to another defensive line, and get some reserves around to block any potential breakthroughs. Though they’d be wise to do a fighting withdrawal to slow them down too

When you gays learn, it’s literally only Wagner there and they’re bulked up with more men than they previously had in those Ukrainian counter offensives like you dumb fucks now know that Russia can plug the gaps so it’s only Wagner doing complex maneuvers in bakhmut, a modern hammer and anvil strategy, or at least that’s what I would’ve said if those madchads somehow began to make it for the last major line of defense in chasiv yar
Pro Ukrainian map said ivanistan or whatever was gonna be their focus point to defend this new pocket now thah chasiv is under threat

I wonder if NATO IS actually retarded since the only good thing they did this entire war is the Kharkov Blitzkreig but that's about it and that's not even a genious move the Ruskis just happened to not have enough men to man that front, they should have mobilized pretty much since month 1
