Was the F-14 the best figther ever made?

I heard it has two pilots because it could pull some deadly Gs and having a backup pilot increased the survival rate on dogfigths.

Meanwhile modern figthers like the F-22 and F-35 are single seat only.

That's retarded. The back seater ran the radar. That's why he was called a Radar Intercept Officer. And no, it wasn't the best. It was, perhaps, the best of type when it was built. It was a fucking maintenance nightmare with a rotten rate of readiness, and as soon as modern warbirds came on the scene it was gracefully retired.

      >gracefully
Shredded and thrown overboard isnt what i'd call graceful.

        >he actually believes they were destroyed
if they keep F-117's in fully serviced condition, they have Tomcat's squirrelled away somewhere

In terms of pure performance in the air, completely irrespective of all costs and logistics and difficulties outside of flying and fighting well when it was at it's best possible condition, what would you say is the best fighter ever made?

Thanks, I'm always curious about people's take on that question.

The big advantage of the Tomcat was the AIM-54 Phoenix missile. Once technology advanced past it the platform lost it's edge.

Because G force only affects one pilot at a time

I will always rate the f15 as the king of fighter jets. F22, ive flown that, it sucks. Always feel sick after flying it.

What is a retired AF pilot with hours in the Raptor doing on a Argentinian pottery restoration website?

This you? Also wasn't there an issue with the F-22 identified as the cause of pilot sickness that finally got fixed?

Dude you have to be more blunt when you're baiting, say that the F-14 would beat the F-35 because [reason]

There used to be an SR71 and an F14 at the NYC Intrepid. I had no idea how enormous they were. Conversely, the Concorde, which I though was huge, is a tiny jet. The seating on the Concorde is ridiculous for what the price was. It makes economy seating look like business class.
