Want my first gun

femoid in washington, debating getting my first gun. Current live-at-home NEET. Draw art online (not NSFW). Currently making small amounts of money from art so something affordable would be good. Do you really need a safe in washington? also suggestions on gun would be helpful.

    Greetings fellow Washingtonian.
Depends on budget and the size of your hands really. Might really like the M&P9 shield compacts, ruger LCR if you want something small and not able to snag if you were to store in a purse or bra, P365 is pretty good small thin profile, could get away with a glock but I feel like that's a cop out awnser but a safe choice.

Might really enjoy CZ compacts or Berettas as well. 9mm, .380 isn't a bad choice too if you don't have a lot of shooting practice built up yet.

As for safe laws you can get away with a locked pistol case for proper storage but tbh WA cops hardly do anything normal let alone raid to ticket a random femanon for improper storage just don't leave it out in the open. Gotta hide your power level.

Buy a handgun in 9mm with a 15 round capacity. Anything from Smith and Wesson, Glock, CZ, Walther should be fine. If you want something smaller buy a Smith and Wesson Shield. Take an intro course with it, a local shooting ranger should offer one. Shoot with it at a range least twice a week, at least 50 rounds each time. If you’re having trouble hitting a target at 25 yards in a relatively quick and controlled fashion, get more classes.
This is what I’d recommend for a bedside table handgun for basically anyone. It can later become a carry gun, but I honestly don’t recommend carrying until you are comfortable and confident with a handgun, because you are genuinely in more danger if you’re jumpy, nervous and unfamiliar with a gun and carrying it on your person 25/7.
Literally anyone should be able to conceal carry a standard 9mm 15+1 handgun with a halfway decent kydex holster on their hip if they wear a shirt and a long sleeve button down like pic rel.
resist the urge to buy a very small handgun as they are actually harder to shoot
    Never carry in your purse
Above all be confident and relaxed, and practice regularly

Won't be much in Seattle, will probably have to drive south to federal way/Tacoma for indoor/outdoor range class. Might be one in Bellevue but I wouldn't know.

Eastside has a few classes, lots of folks like West Coast Armory which has a couple locations.

For ladies/LGBTQ+ look at Pink Pistols Seattle for a supportive group of alt gun owners.

Lastly. As for safety in Washington.

Yes. Absolutely, this state has been getting fricking bonkers lately with tranq flooding the streets, desperate people pushed into desperate times, and not to mention Washington has had its fair share of human trafficking due to the ports, spooky shit that will most likely (hopefully) never happen. But it's nice to have an insurance policy on your side, the firearm is the great equalizer but it must be respected. If you do decide to get a gun please spend at least 30 mins a day getting accustomed to it and go shooting every month.

Go outside, fingerfrick a bunch of guns and buy the one that feels right. Don't fricking point the gun at anyone while fingerfricking it at the store and ask before you pull the trigger (which you should test out). Better yet, ask them to show you how to fingerfrick it if they seem nice. Exceptions apply, don't buy it if it's turkshit or something like that, buy something from a reputable brand for fricks sakes. And like the other anon said, go take a course, learn how to work it and how to shoot it.
Now I must ask you to frick off due to the lack of breasts.

Bonus tip since I'm feeling generous. Don't just fingerfrick the guns at a gun store, if you have some disposable income, I'd actually first go to a range and rent out the gun you're eying and try it out, you don't truly know how they feel until you've shot one. And whatever you do, muzzle pointed downrange, finger off the bang lever until you're ready to shoot.

Check out a Makarov. Good size for a girl, more reliable than most of the modern plastic crap, and pretty affordable as a surplus weapon. All girls I gave it to shoot preferred it over other pistols.
I've also replaced a recoil spring so it can take most powerful rounds better, but it's not necessary

                Affordable
500~ for a quality handgun you can trust.
You might be able to find a Beretta Px4 compact for a steal on gunbroker. Low recoil due to the barrel rotating during fire, compact which is nice, you can swap the backside of the grips to accommodate any hand size, dewienerer safety, double single action which is good to learn for newer shooters.

I own a full-size PX4 in .40 and it's the worst pistol in terms of recoil I ever shot. Can't imagine how a shorty can be better

ITT: so many beta orbiters. Sad

OP get a Palmetto State Armory "Dagger" in 9mm. It will cost you around $300 before tax and tip. It takes Glock parts. Then go take a pistol class by someone who's only endorsement is the NRA Basic Pistol.

Be aware that Glocks and similar handguns dont have an external safety lever and if you want to break it down for cleaning you may have to pull the trigger.
Only mentioning this because first timers may not think of this beforehand.

Since you’re a Foid, the size of your hands is gonna be one of the bigger limiting factors when considering pistols. (Rifle grips will all fit you just fine.). Sig p365 or Springfield Hellcat or any similar truly scaled down pistol, where the grip is also scaled down. The p365 also comes in 380 which has a bit less recoil than 9mm.. If you have big hands, then anything works

Also a fun choice, if you don't care at all about self defense: a daisy 880 with a scope and 500 pellets will cost about $60, and you can shoot cans and targets in your back yard all summer.
