If you want one of these things, buy it ASAP.
Odds are very high that it won't be in production for long.
.32ACP pistols sell VERY poorly in the US, so Walther will most likely be eating a financial loss on every single pistol sold.

You want to turn the little ppk into a 5lbs brick like the hi point? Another moron that doesn't understand the core concept of a blowback.

Yeah because it's slide is zinc, steel slide would be much smaller

Slightly less bulky but the weight would still have to be the same.

Not really it wouldn't. Zamak sn't much lighter than steel.
A 9mm Luger or .45 direct blowback gun just needs a lot of mass, there's no way around it unless you delay the recoil somehow.

cold drawn steel has a density of like 7800 kg/m cubed, cast zinc is like 7000 kg/m. That’s not a massive difference for something as small as a pistol slide.

Of course, we both know that your kind only applies this line of thinking so far. Compare your precious 9mm to .45 or 10mm and you'll happily spout off about how stopping power is a meme. Let someone carry a .25 or .32 in your presence though. That's when you homosexuals start sounding just like the .45 boomers you hate so much.
Before you start screeching, I'm happy to inform you that I actually do carry a .32 most of the time. It's enough gun for my area. That said, I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that I can do everything with it that I can do with my 9mm or my .45.

Jack Lott was a frickwit, and his reverence as a genius among African hunting enthusiasts is truly the star indictment of the collective wisdom of this insular, inbred huddle.

Back before the animals dried up, hunters had no problem using military calibers on every single species. It was only once they became rare and expensive that the hunting rituals and trappings were developed. Rituals like holding your gun by the barrel like a moron, trappings like shorts you would otherwise never wear.

The reason why African hunting allows the worst ideas to persist is because ZERO people do it. African poaching however is far more consequential for the participants, and they use AKs and FALs. Because who wouldn't? It's so fricking obvious that a FAL is better at killing elephants than a 500 nitro double rifle.

                Anonymous

                >and they use AKs and FALs.
You are forgetting that one of the most important aspects for big game hunters is to preserve the pelt for the inevitable stuffing (or in the case of an elephant, just the head normally or just part of the skin), so absolutely peppering the shit out of an animal defeats one of the more important parts of the hunt. A single big hole sucks, but not necessarily as much as someone mag-dumping your prey.

                It's also worth reading this
                https://www.orwell.ru/library/articles/elephant/english/e_eleph

"Shooting an elephant" by George Orwell, which recounts more or less exactly what you are describing. Death by a hundred shots, topped off by shooting an elephant gracelessly in the head multiple times as it slowly expired. Note that it isn't entirely clear if Orwell himself actually shot the elephant but a situation of its kind did occur when he was deployed to Burma then, so whether it is autobiographical or just an account is not entirely clear..

Things like that have greatly enforced the idea that hunting should be done with as precise a single shot as humanely possible, which is why many states do have minimum caliber laws on the presumption that a larger caliber will be a little more forgiving in terms of error margin. Can you kill a deer with a single shot of .22LR? Absolutely, the side of their skull isn't that thick, kinda around their "temple". Can 80% of the hunters out there be trusted to routinely make that shot? I don't know, but I suspect you'd have a lot of deer who get shot in the jaw or get fricked up shoulders if people tried, leading it to die a very slow and painful death. And if they shot a deer 8x with a .22 all over, it'd probably still run off and die a slow death, possibly never being found.

                Correct.
                >Every cartridge is basically just the equivalent of one another.
                No.
                >Muzzle energy has no bearing on anything.
Yes and no. Muzzle energy doesn't dish out more HP damage and thus work better. Muzzle energy allows you to spend it. Which can be crushing tissue or simply pushing it aside.
If you have a caliber with very low muzzle energy but the bullet is designed for adequate penetration and 100% of the energy is converted to crushed tissue (violates the laws of thermodynamics but bear with me) and another caliber which beats the first by a country mile in muzzle energy but it only spends 1% of its energy in crushing tissue, the first one wins. The first is actually doing the thing that kills or makes people fall and give up, the second is sailing through the target like a needle while giving a vigorous slap to the surrounding tissue. That energy being used to push tissue aside allows it to return undamaged unless the KE is so high that the tissue ruptures.
That's why for example 5.56 and 5.45 can show superior wounding to 7.62x39. While 7.62x39 has a bigger bullet at rifle velocities and seems to show more momentum and ability to punch through intermediate cover, you cannot look at the numbers and say it has more stopping power when 5.56 can fragment and 7.62x39 can icepick.

it's a straight blowback .380 with very little mass, reciprocating and total with a very narrow backstrap. The ppk weighs more and makes it tolerable, but overall small .380s shouldn't be blowback. My pico is a dream in comparison.

Isn’t the 380 and 9 the same size? Regardless, that moron compared the 80x to the compact, not the subcompact which is significantly smaller, even in 9.

.32 ACP was used by military and police for decades but ooooooohhhhhhhh now it's not good enough for you gays

Bad guys have evolved over the century to become immune to bullets smaller than 9mm, oh no, my shots will just deflect off them if I use a .32!

      Yeah

Because the difference between a .312 diameter bullet and a .355 diameter bullet on a meth head is that significant

it's slower than 9mm, but how important is velocity in a handgun round? .45 is slower than 9mm, but no one questions its effectiveness the way people do .32

            apparently diameter does matter

              Energy matters

Given that F = M•A, If a bullet has both less mass and less speed guess what, its fricking weaker

      Yeah, eurotrash police.
American police were using wheel guns usually loaded with .38spl, in the old days the smallest would be something like .32S&W or .32mag used by a scant few departments.
The only niche .32acp filled, briefly, was in military general officer pistols - usually colt automatics like the hammerless - but this niche was eroded quickly by .380 and later commander model 1911'sp

        >in the old days the smallest would be something like .32S&W or .32mag

Up until the 1870's most American police departments carried .31cal Colt pocket pistols. By the 1860's they were starting to carry .36cal revolvers (see Colt 1862), which you could argue is similar to modern .32acp. Police were never intended to be heavily armed with stopping powah. Not saying all police should switch to .32, but it would be perfectly adequate, especially with some shot-placement training.

      >Bad guys have evolved over the century to become immune to bullets smaller than 9mm

      Or
      Hear me out
People were never exactly satisfied with the way .32 performed and when modern short recoil handguns became plentiful in more powerful calibers, they opted for them instead and .32 almost completely died out as a result?
