Ukraine is a terrible example considering they just got most of their air defense assets blown up in a recent strike. Or the fact that they're critically low on every time of ammunition in general. Or the fact that they have near-zero air capability and the west refuses to give them fighters, and they're somehow supposed to conduct a counteroffensive without all this.

      >Wait a minute, why is china building a military base in the UAE?
Because the Saudis and by extension the UAE are enemies with the Pakistanis. China realizes a partnership of any kind will aid in efforts against Pakistani aggression while building an economic partnership in the region. This relationship the Suadis have with the US is the same as the situation regarding Iran. In a way, Suadis are playing both sides and somewhat hedging their bets.
      >Why is the UAE letting them?
      This is adequately explained above.
      >Why isn't America stopping them?
It could be done, but it is costly and does not outweigh the benefits of letting China and the UAE do business. The more the US moves away from fossil fuels, the less it matters how relations go with the UAE in the long run. Intervention at this stage results in a conflict that would have to be justified to the American people, or an economic blow involving the skyrocketing of gas prices.

Incredible, everything you've just said was wrong.

      >Wait a minute, why is china building a military base in the UAE?
Because they are a resource poor country and they need to secure oil to survive.

      >Why is the UAE letting them?
Because its a sellers market and China offered them a good deal, better for them to play two sides against each other while they're indispensable.

      >Why isn't America stopping them?
Probably not worth spending whatever the UAE would ask to block China, since China is desperate for cheap energy and America is relatively secure.

      Imagine being this misinformed.

China promised to help the phillipines with their infastructure as part of the belt and road scam and then not only stiffed them, but also stole their fishing rights and is trying to strong arm their political system over the loans the filios took out for zero actual infrastructure development from china (as is normally the case with B&R suckers). Thus their bought man Durante got voted out and the Phillipines has pivoted back to the protection of the US, who are happy to reinvest in the phillipines to wiener block china. China's diplomatic strategy is losing in the Oceania area pretty badly right now.

      A very apt post.

For the same reason Egypt let China own multiple ports and cities,
and Greece sold off their Piraeus port to China and Thessaloniki port to Russia,
and China built Saudi Arabia's ballistic missile program,
and UAE supplied Chinese-made drones to Ethiopia and warlord Haftar in Libya,
and companies in the US and Europe continue to invest in China and even lobby in favor of ethnic slave labor.

The US refuses to put its foot down when it comes to China. There are decisions that can be made that counter China with minimal fallout but even that's too much to ask for apparently.

Back the myriad of anti-regime insurgents in Myanmar to topple the junta. Let the ethnic Rohingya hold a referendum and partition the western third of Rakhine State as an independent state.
China has gas and oil pipelines and highways going through Myanmar that connect it to the Indian Ocean, thereby bypassing the Malacca Strait outright.

Tell the US Commerce Department to stop letting companies transfer valuable tech to China, which the former is notorious for allowing constantly. Slap high tariffs on Chinese-made garments outright, as an extension of the ban on Xinjiang cotton.
Give tax credits to companies that abandon Chinese manufacturing outright in favor of manufacturing in Central America and West Africa, which are closer to the US and Europe geographically and reduce migration crises.

          Anonymous

          >in favor of manufacturing in Central America and West Africa,

No amount of tax credits is going to convince companies to move to these places given the preexisting proximity to supply chains/infrastructure in SEA and the fact that these other places are even worse off than China in terms of corruption and lack the infrastructure to support a manufacturing base not to mention an even less educated population base for a workforce.

If it was that easy, the factories would have been in Africa years ago, but they are not given all the problems in Africa.

Instead it's places like Vietnam again due to its proximity. And even India is proving to be difficult due to corruption and difficult recruiting a minimally educated workforce.

Also the Rohingya are muslims. You have to be insane to support another Islamic insurgency.

America being relatively energy secure means frick all when it's influenced by global energy markets regardless. If gulf states + china really wanted to frick over the US like it's 1973 they absolutely could and the US wouldn't be able to do a thing about it despite theoretically having vast energy reserves (which they can't tap into anyway due to environmental regulations, and companies not wanting to drill because it wouldn't be profitable anyway due to the early push for EVs, oops)

                >China has several years worth of crude stored up at any point. Same with grain.
America has the world's largest oil reserves. China has a couple of months, maybe. The grain reserve is only on paper - every time a silo gets a visit from authorities it mysteriously combusts.
                >US consooomers will be crying if they don't get their funkopops and estrogen supplements every two weeks
They should cry. Why should I care?

China no longer walks the tightrope once they get the gulf states fully aligned with them. It wouldn't be an energy war between China and America, but an energy war between China and OPEC+ on one side, America on the other. You are quite frankly delusional if you think America has the upper advantage in a conflict like this. Saudi Arabia is the lynchpin that makes the petrodollar work, without it the US is nothing

                >China no longer walks the tightrope once they get the gulf states fully aligned with them.
It literally doesn't matter what the gulf states think. Their job is to set prices. Westerners do all the thinking, migrants do all the labor, and the US decides if cargo shipping is a thing that gets to exist.

                >If gulf states + china really wanted to frick over the US like it's 1973 they absolutely could
Ok, but its in the opposite interests of the gulf states to go against the US. The Gulf states profit by being neutral and allowing the two spheres to bid against each other; if they choose a side, then they lose the ability to keep benefiting from both sides and allow the winning side to start flexing their power.
More so, America is an overwhelmingly powerful country that has historically not hesitated to dispose of regimes that went against it in the middle east, while China has consistently signaled that its a opportunistic predator with no loyalties and will not help its partners if something goes wrong.
Plus the ME is not a united front and actually hate each other quite a lot and various countries would leap at the chance to take down various other countries and each known that the US will be there once again to help their enemies if they step out of line or show weakness.
Therefore, it's dangerous and less profitable for ME states to openly go against the US and China has no leverage to force them.

It's called diplomacy and bilateral agreements. Notions the US shat all over in the past 20 years for dubious benefit and got multiple hostile insurgencies blown up in their faces because of it.
China just supports the current ME states with minimal meddling while also playing peacemaker (see: recent KSA and Iran reapproachment, peace in Yemen, etc.). This gives them soft power in the region, and in turn the ME states return the favor by giving them privileged access.

You're right overall but China has nothing to do with peace in Yemen. China was supplying armed drones that the UAE and KSA used on Ansarullah in Yemen.

          >Yeah because they're not cucked by Israel.
Agreed. That's what I was saying. The US bends down to Israel and can't balance relations because of it.

Yemen peace can be seen as an extension of saudi-iran normalization brokered by china, given how iran was heavily involved in the proxy conflict. it's not wild to think that china was able to offer them substantially beneficial deals. Something the US state department apparently couldn't cook up and were caught blindsided by it, given their anger over Yemen finally seeing peace for the first time in almost a decade thanks to Gina's involvement.

          >Yemen peace can be seen as an extension of saudi-iran normalization brokered by china, given how iran was heavily involved in the proxy conflict. it's not wild to think that china was able to offer them substantially beneficial deals.
You have no clue about the Yemen conflict then. If anything the Yemen truce helped with the Iran and KSA rapprochement, not the other way around.

After Ansarullah struck KSA and UAE with kamikaze drone strikes, they started begging for a ceasefire which went into effect in April 2022. They realized that their oil and gas facilities are not safe, which already cost them hundreds of millions following the strikes, and would potentially cost them tens of billions.

          >Something the US state department apparently couldn't cook up and were caught blindsided by it, given their anger over Yemen finally seeing peace for the first time in almost a decade thanks to Gina's involvement.
I don't think the US was angry over peace in Yemen at all since they don't care much for it, but it further highlights how the US bent down to Saudi Arabia over Yemen too.
The blockade was horrendous and starved millions, and even many US lawmakers criticized KSA and UAE's war in Yemen and passed laws to not sell offensive weapons to KSA. Albeit the US has still continued to sell weapons to them, along with Canada, UK, EU, South Africa, Turkey (Karayel UCAVs), Russia and China.

The Foundation for Defending Democracy is a UAE funded think tank that has spent the last 20 years shilling for the wars in the middle east that destroyed US standing in the region and allowed China to take over. You're welcome.

The same reason everyone has bases in Djibouti
    >wow look at this strait
    >so much oil and trade goes through it
    >it would really be a shame if someone decided to lay a bunch of seamines or go full somali pirate mode!
It's just a simple reality of global trade. Piracy and religious fundies setting up seamines in major shipping lanes is dangerous for everyone's bottom line.

The fact US intelligence knew about this and kept it a secret is proof that US intelligence has already infiltrated that Chinese military site.

Can we please just ban East Asian IPs already? Sinoschizos are consistently the lowest quality posters. Even worse than the Indians.
