nta but we used this in finland a fair amount, had both winter (thicker, also what we strapped onto skis with) and summer boots. They were fine for walking in, you just need to make sure you have the appropriate amount of socks so that the fit is right.

Tried the same finn given rubber boots in the military. Even with stacking socks the inability to breath leads to the feet getting wet from the sweat and as soon as you stop for any lenghts either change all the socks or get cold down there.

After I bought 'merican Matterhorns (gore-tex, breathable, insulated up to for -40 celsius) only time I used rubbers was when sawing firewood.

Those are perfectly fine if you're shambling through half-frozen muddy bogs all day, but there are definitely comfier boots for other uses.
If you fill them with socks, your ankle is basically immobilized and you can't walk normally, putting huge strain on the rest of your legs. We'd normally wear the regular boots while marching, but on one occasion some genius ordered us to wear the fricking rubber boots. After a couple dozen kilometers my knees felt like they were going to dislocate.
Only moronic boomers think those are appropriate footwear for general use.

regular boots are definitely better when you don't need to avoid water to the same extent. I never had any issues with them though, and did a lot of walking with them (including with them being part of the NBCR getup which sucked in other ways)

Natural rubber used to be called gum rubber, then it became replaced by artificial products made from oil during the 40s that were less dependent on imports and far cheaper. I believe the term gum boots is particularly in use in Africa but also used elsewhere including Scandinavia which refers to them as 'gummi boots'.

Nothing inherently wrong with them. Jackboots were phased out (regardless of country) primarily because they were costlier to manufacture than lower, laced boots. They are still a good thing in muddy terrain. In modern countries they are made from rubber as that is cheaper than leather, and in cold countries they are also often available with padding.

Looks fine to be, a lot of armies issue rain boots for wet boggy environments. Some even issue waders for flood relief missions. They're actually a lot better equipped than I expected for a penal battalion, they've all got carriers and those with helmets have nice ones; which is dramatically better than some of the conscripts.

I used to buy those surplus East German boots in the early and mud 90s when they could be had for $10 a pair as work boots.

Pretty well made and comfy until the insoles wore down and the hobnails started poking through.

But for $10, you could just toss them and break out another pair.

They're called gum boots in South Africa. There's even a dance based off them that came out of the mines based on stomping and slapping them. When done well it's pretty sweet.
I find Africans very weird, they're such happy people, but capable of such shocking violence and brutality at the same time. Colonisers here used to say they were a lot like children and I see it, I really do.
Like, only Africans could work a full 12 hour shift down the mine and then come up with a happy energetic dance routine to do afterwards.

If you touch a pidor it makes you gay, you're only allowed to touch them with your dick.

You can only touch them with your feet when you are hitting them. Dicking isn’t as common as in US, cuz who you end fricking is a stinky (they don’t allow b***hes to wash), malnourished and mentally destroyed human. You can’t really get hard to it. Rape occurres mostly in so called “bitch” zones where there are barely any rules, so b***hes get fed n washed n fricked

        Nice try, Prigozhin.
There are nearly 600,000 inmates in Russian prisons.
I'm pretty sure there weren't 200,000 inmate deaths in the past 8 months.
