If you don't want to stay confined to the capital you can visit Arcadia or the Pindus Mountains in Epirus.
I was there in september. It's a nice city, and the historical attractions are absolutely some of the best in the world. The acropolis was a highlight, but there's plenty of other large ruined areas scattered nearby. It's a history lover's dream, but even I will admit there's only so many ancient ruins you can visit in a few days before it just becomes boring.
Apart from ancient ruins, Athens has a great cafe culture, but there's not that much else to do I find. It's not an exciting city. I would take this advice, he seems to know what he's talking about.
If you have never been definitely go. Walking that city will feel more PrepHole then anything you have done. Also the history and food etc. Better to go during Euro holiday if you wanna frick pussy.
Go to Sparta in Greece instead. Less weirdos and far more out. For a real challenge, go to the island of Psara. It gets one ferry every two weeks to Chios and then the mainland. >only the strong survive
