you should watch it, it's satire. I was hoping for it to be satire, because if it was real, I'd finally lost all hope for humanity

Just hide threads you dont like mate. Life is simple
Who cares about trends and what other people think?
Me because once everyone is done with van life they might go for cheap. And once everyone is done with it that means more parking spots for me.
I have already seen cheap as frick vans that are fully van lyfed out on local facebook marketplace and autotrader.
Not in the united states you havent
OP here. You're kinda right. It won't let me delete this thread tho.
This person is not OP.
Nor is he funny.
Spoiler alert: you aren't OP either.
He kinda was. Aren't we all OP in one way or another?
Literally not how it works in Australia. Demand falls? Prices rise because it’s niche or need to cover operating costs or some other bullshit. Demand rises? Prices rise. Price only go up.
that's because supply is also contracting, as well as cost increases because things are not being made at scale.
And if things are more niche there is less competition so it's easier for companies to frick you by just setting high prices. They know you don't have any choice but to go through them.
where's the industry collusion factor in?
Economists and psychologists
Anyone and everyone who's trying to sell something.
Weak men hoping to get the tiniest taste of Instagram pussy

"BPD & ecstasy" vs "guy running from his problems." Now we know who wins. (Nobody.)
Why do these loser ass nerd looking van life influencers all have 10/10 girlfriends?
This one as well wtf.
He is at least as attractive as that butterfaced blonde
I've got a van as a daily driver with a nice setup that's a step up from a tent in the back. When the whole van life meme started it's amazing the amount of people that forgot that it's legal to still own a house and that I don't actually live 24/7 in a tiny little van.
Vans are still the hardest vehicles to find since the pandemic started
Nothing is over
Once I can pic up a converted camper for cheap, or even fricking find one at all , then you start saying the fad is over
>Nothing is over
NOTHING! YOU JUST DON'T TURN IT OFF! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGC6C4vuOao
Its not over till I get my goddamn dream van, they drew first blood not me
goddamn chip shortage fricking everthing right the frick up
Even those shitty little Ford Transit vans are going for 10K+ here. Minivans aren't far behind.
If you want AWD anything you are now looking at 20k even if its 20 years old
Yeah, overlanding and #vanlife are over
That’s called the Transit Connect, not Transit.
Trucks are pretty difficult to get at any sort of reasonable price these days.
This is true
The only thing harder to buy right now than a truck is a van
>can't get a truck
>can't get a van
I'm straight up not having a good time right now.
Maybe in your area, around mine it is easy as fick to find a van or truck, not for jacked up prices.
Where is that anon? I will fly there tomorrow
please share location
I still want to do it, I don’t care if it’s a trend.
Good. You smelly hippies deserve to live in 500sq foot pods for all the communist liberal hippie bullshit you've been spouting for the past 40 years
That video was cancer, this thread is cancer, you OP are cancer. Seriously consider ending yourself in some over the top graphic manner so we can all sleep soundly knowing you will never commit a thread like that. Also, the guy in the video is an obvious homosexual who can't even afford being a stylish homosexual, that makes him a double homosexual at least, with a hint of Black person.
rude and unbased
Find the nearest van, start the engine and suck on the exhaust pipe until all goes dark. That's the only way you can do something good for the wider geene pool.
Giving this video a thumbs down, just because you posted it here
The meta is now living iin a piece of shit junk boat just off the shore of some west coast city.
be the change you want anon. i came into this thread looking for discussions about vanliving. tell me how what your set up is like and any regrets you have in your build/setup decisions
Not him but I have no rare gets as far as my van is concerned
I have outgrown it , but I did severy builds until I found exactly what suited me
My next van is going to be a ford transit if they ever start fricking making them again
Things I got rid of along the way
Sink , what a waste of space
Passenger seat, its rare that there is a need for it since I am forever alone
Windows, when I want to see outside I leave the door open
Stuff you need for sure
Stove
5 gallon water dispenser
Fridge (a cooler is no fun for extended travel)
Pee bottle and poop bucket. Make these good ones and learn how to use them right or your life will be horrible
Maxxair fan
Heavy duty tires so you dont bust a sidewall offroad
Tarps and tent pole awning and learn the tricks of setup
Good ground cover mat for under awning
Solar is pretty hard to live without if you camp for extended periods
Women honestly will make you crazy , I never met Brian but I damn sure understand him
Women will want to come with you and say they wont be a bother
What a load of shit
Do not ever take a woman with you on an extended camping trip.
A woman’s idea of camping is to do a two hour hike where they can take borderline naked selfies at a waterfall in the hopes of getting even a sliver of internet clout, before going back to their air conditioned cabin.
Every woman who makes “van life” videos is a fricking liar, and many of them have already been exposed. They drive their vans to a nice looking beach, get some b-roll footage to layer over acoustic guitar sounds, and then they drive that van right back to the hotel that they’re actually staying at.
I know a guy and girl who did van life for 3 months out of college, she hated it and if he didn’t finally settle down in an apartment she was gonna leave him. Killed his dreams of adventure because she wanted a bath tub.
I hate women so much it’s unreal.
>Killed his dreams
many such cases
Go on Instagram or Facebook or something and search for AT, PCT, or CDT. There are plenty of girls (not women; women haven’t existed for a few generations) doing those, and a handful will have finished all three this year. That’s a lot of effort for likes and comments.
Not really. When every fiber of your being burns for attention, and your mind's sole thought it "look at me!" then of course you will go to extreme lengths to satisfy your craving. That, and children walk the AT, anon. Come on. The PCT is the only one that you could argue takes effort, and even then, it's just planning. Your average person should (key word) already be fit enough to walk any of those.
Says the person whose done none of those.
LoL, no, they're an achievement if nothing else but of will. I'm sure the lady I'm thinking of who lost multiple whole toenails getting her triple crown was in it purely for the likes.
>was in it purely for the likes.
Of course she was.
Who could even argue
You don't go outside. Why are you posting on an outdoor board?
>lost multiple whole toenails
The horror!
>The only contact with women I have is through social media, therefore that must be all women care about
>Friend chose a girl that didn't have the same interests as him over achieving his dreams
Both of you are pussies and morons. Maybe if you actually went PrepHole then you would meet actual PrepHole girls.
stop pretending that women are not horrible people
This sounds accurate.
They're shallow, weak and not driven at all. Women can only follow what a man does.
A man goes out in nature because he needs to. Because he knows indulging in modern shallow pleasures will kill him.
Women can only follow (and they often don't want to, but they're always better off because of it)
9 mins and 37 seconds I will never get back of my life. Kys. A tent thread or boot thread or trekking pole thread died for this. Kys.
>Dude disco is dead so you can't make it or listen to it anymore!!!!!!!!!!
Who cares what other people are doing. Wouldn't this just make van life easier? Less people doing it would mean vans are cheaper and people don't think you're a dipshit for living in a van.
This , I wish it was dead buts its bigger than ever.
Impossible to fly under the radar anymore.
Just spend 5 minutes in any mountain town in the rockies and you will see how crazy things have gotten. Sprinter vans as far as the eye can see.
Moab in April is fricking absurd in the same way.
pretty much year round innit?
But I need to feel special and unique! Meeee!
I miss the days where van life was just called being homeless
>camping alone
>somehow, camera is set up in advance to capture person walking towards it
>stop van
>get out with camera
>set up camera
>get back in van
>drive into shot
>stop van
>retrieve camera
Gee, wasn't that hard.
You'll never see a upperclass hipster sleep in a metal deathbox with zero insulation. Comfort is for weaklings.
peak comfy, was camping this way with my dad in the 1990s. An old Chevy van, pull up to the river or lake, fish, shoot our marlin 22, have a nice little campfire, roll away back home the next morning.
Those sre memories worth keeping anon
I hate that guy more than I've ever hated anyone after listening to them talk for 14 seconds.
dont feel bad anon, I nearly watched the whole fricking thing 🙁
This video is a israeli psy op to convince you to pay rent
you are very big brain anon
>he thinks he isnt paying rent every time he fills his van's gas tank
>Van Life is dead, buried, and soon to be forgotten.
good! theres too many of yuppie van mommies
Van life was never really a thing to begin with, unless you count extended holidays.
Most people living out of a van/car are forced to rather than wanting to.
You have no idea what you are talking about
He probably doesn't have Instagram, which is pretty based of him, tbh.
No one listen to this guy, he's an idiot.
Your right, I don't. I'm aware of bunch of hipsters tried to make it glamorous.
Its also rich boomers who retired early in very expensive rigs.
>Because he believes in himself, he doesnt try to convince others
>Because he is content with himself, he doesnt need other's approval
>Because he accepts himself, the whole world accepts him
Do what you want anon, pussying out of something you want to do because you dont want to be seen as a hippie is pretty fricking gay and weak tho
Man I wish I could see the interior
Tao Te Ching is almost as gay as you.
That will be 65,000 plus tip plus 2500cc.
>There's a new trend waiting in the wings to replace it.
There is nowhere in North America where you can park your fat ass without paying someone for the privilege of existing.
Take the homelesspill anon. Be free.
>Be free
You know that most states have laws on the books that let them throw homeless people in jail, right?
They say "debtor's prison" is dead. They lie.
GIVE UP AND SELL YOUR VAN
>https://www.rvtravel.com/campground-crowding-1050b/
I dont use campgrounds very often and BLM land is plentiful
That shit makes me glad I overland in a lifted hilux.
Go up any jeep trail, and the competition for space is non-existent.
Obviously doesn't need pavement/campground to set up camp anywhere.
Based. How's the reliability? Been thinking about grabbing an import when they pop up.
Reliability very good. I have a KZN130 which is a JDM import with the
3.0l turbodiesel. Obviously, because it has a turbo, there's a whole
other system of factors in play and to take care of. The killer of the
1KZ-TE engine is overheating and blowing the head, so preventative
measures like aftermarket EGT/water temp gauges, lower thermostat
setpoint and relocation, viscous fan adjustment, and higher quality
radiator will ensure for a long life.
I previously had a Toyota Hilux LN106 which had the 2.8l naturally
aspirated diesel in it. Though the machine is african-bush certified
bulletproof, it was just too slow for the highways we have here in
america. Absolute dog of an engine, but entirely trustworthy.
Nonetheless, I miss it sometimes after selling it a year ago.
>pic related my KZN130 last year in colorado. It was pretty much bare
bone stock at the time.
Phenomenal grip on those tires, anon.
>not buying a f150 payload package or f250 and an aluminum framed truck camper
I can get out much farther than you in comfort.
>aluminum frame truck camper
>no insulation

Enjoy that crisp mountain air, Anon.
Do you cook in your van?
You're sure all those gas connections are nice and tight, right?
Get with the times, gramps.
People use electricity to cook now.
Electricity causes fires too.
How's your wiring, young whippersnapper?
Isolated and Insulated.
Have you checked out your gas lines for any pinhole leaks recently, old timer?
At the start of every season.
cuck buys a plant and believes it will solve his problems.
Saved you all the bullshit video. Here's my venmo
I just want all the morons who bought vans and RVs during COVID to realize they are wasting their money and sell them. These newbies are the ones getting camping sites shut down because they can't be bothered to pack out their garbage, or avoid damaging the environment. The authorities have to come and clear them out, and then shut the place down while it recovers. The new wave of van lifers is destroying everything.
You realize that vanlife is still going strong, especially because of COVID. People are still feeling the pressures of the lockdown, so they want to get out. Preferably to connect with nature and see something other than the inside of their house. Vanlife isn't dead just because you have issues with it.
Another one fricks off.

Skoolies and big RVs are kind of scary. You have no idea if the person driving them has ever driven anything bigger than a Honda Accord in their life, if they know how to properly conduct a daily inspection, if they're doing good maintenance, if they're completely sober... because when a 12,000 lb. vehicle goes out of control, it makes a BIG mess.
I smesh
Did she really?
Who are these guys that are so thirsty now that they watch fat girls do vanlife?
What the wtf?
Lol fat chicks ruin everything.
Do guys bang them in those vans? Like men they haven't met?
fat girls will bang men they haven't met anywhere

Holy frick I think I get it now
My whole life has been a waste
Yeah, that's been a thing since the 1970s.
It faded a bit in the 1980s when the AIDS epidemic became a thing.
Perhaps not coincidentally, the first wave of van customizers faded out around the same time.

It makes them seethe more.
I have spent a few nights in quartzite and once caught the tail end of the RTR
Honestly I dont get it
Of all the cool vanlife shit to do , this is not one of them
It's basically hobos who are proud of being hobos, since they have nothing else in their lives to take pride in.
There were a good amount of those for sure but also rich boomers and hipsters , at least at the RTR. The groups also did not seem to mix at all . Honestly seemed like no one was having much fun
>Get a custom van to scape suburbia
>get out in the middle of nowhere
>become suburbia again
>find primo camping spot
>brag about it on Instagram
>within a week, thirty other RVs show up
>they trash the place
>shove off and look for a new private spot
This is how colonization happens.
People prefer to be alone.
This is why I completely stopped telling any normal gay any locations. I made the mistake a few times and now all the city gays go there because some butthole posted it on komoot or any other app or something. Places that are just nice to wander through or chill out. Sometimes a bit dangerous, now dumb city hipster buttholes go there with their dogs and kids, then cry for it to be fenced off for everyone and guarded when someone gets hurt for being a disconnected piece of shit... NEVER tell or post locations. Only share with people who are not normie slime and only in person.
Backpacker chads win again. Only way for true peace and solitude is to hike at least a mile into the woods. All the shittiest people are the laziest and they won't follow.
Chad 4runner with a bed conversion reporting in. It’s the best of both worlds.
show more. How do you fix the wood to the interior walls?
Idk what you want to see. The magic of my design is that the portion going over the rear seats is adjustable and removable. That means I can pop in the rear seats in about 10 minutes and slide the platform to accommodate people around 6ft.
why do you gaygets refuse to squat and cook? get some fricking mobility
I used to have mobility. After some decades of going up and down mountains, it's kinda questionable now. My knees are not so fond of squatting as they used to be.
stretch more, start small push yourself every session
Can confirm, 4Runner is the absolute best off-road vehicle in terms of price/reliability/capability ratio.
Only if you're a total manlet. Anyone over 5'-9" can't sleep in those things.
even as a manlet I am not sure I want to sleep in an suv
very happy with my full size van
Hell yes, anon. That looks awesome!
Gabby Potato was a psyop; Boomers need them Social Security gibsmedats and yall aint buyin enough houses from BlackRock
"Social Security" was a mistake.
If you want to keep living, keep working.
I'm planning to go on a camping trip while working remotely 8 hours per day. I have a Toyota Tacoma, a work laptop, and a work phone that connects to almost any cellular network.
How can I keep my laptop powered for 8 hours per day? Would prefer to not running my car engine all the time. Would a small generator work? Laptop is 65W.
A modern laptop should pull like 10w or less at idle. Get a 12v adapter and you should be fine. If you refuse to spend money on gas to idle you'll need a 100w panel in the sun for a good portion of the day.
Big battery bank
Solar.
gas money isn't a problem, just don't want to wear out my truck engine by idling 50 extra hours per week.
Thanks, I'll look into the solar panels.
Solar + power station could do it or just get an inverter generator, even the smallest ones give way more power than you need for a laptop.
suaoki battery + foldable solar panel
Solar is a meme and takes forever unless you spend big money. Just get one of these for $600 and charge it off your cigarette lighter while you drive. Couldn't be easier or more reliable.
So instead of paying a big upfront cost you want to pay an even bigger longterm cost?
It was never alive.
Rid the world of disgusting hobos.
Start with yourself
everyone knows the wild thorneberries inceptioned many kids and teens into living on 4wheels the rest are trend hopping gayget that think theyre the mainstream
And here is the workbench
Do any of these van life instathots go tot he van nationals?
What is that

PrepHole meetup?
I don't want to listen to this morons nasely liberal voice. Sum it up for me in 3 sentences or less.
Vans suck. Go camping instead.
i camp in my van

get 13 mpg hwy
gas is $6/gallon
LOSE
Just drive less. I ride my bike from camp into town for shopping
Camping in a van is fine, you do you.
Just stay the frick off of instagram.
With gas at $6 a gallon. You are right. SHIT IS DEAD. unless your rich. Stay at home goy. No need to move goy. Sit in your shed goy.
Anon just because you want something to be dead, doesn't mean it is dead.
I'll just run my gas generator and fart out more greenhouse gases. Suck on my smog.
Fricking disgusting. The US Government should charge rent from all the squatters on BLM land.
Trying to get my graphic design work rolling out of my van, and I'm out of my element completely. At home I use a desktop PC but I was told a laptop is far superior for what I'm doing now on the road. I also have no way of powering anything at the moment. What steps do I need to orientate myself in the direction I want to go? Does anyone have experience with this? Ultimately I would prefer setting my desktop up in my van and powering via a battery connected to my alternator or solar, but I'm being told heavily to get a laptop and work off shore power instead. Problem is people telling me this also say Apple products are the best for graphic design which I know is completely uneducated tripe.
sup computer vanlifer. i find that a comfy home office and fast stable internet usually elicits my best work in a timely manner.
do somebody knows a good portable fan to stop sweating in warm/humid weather?
You can get a 12v fan at any truck stop.
but how long can they run before draining the last volt of my battery?
what was this vid before it got removed?
Probably one of JustinCredible's pro-gun rants.
why do the youtubes always have to delete everybody ;_;
I live in an inner city which limits my camper ownership somewhat. I can only own one car/van due to parking restrictions and it must be petrol due to clean air restrictions. Almost all vans in UK are diesel so that rules out using an old van.
I've been thinking about converting a minibus/MPV/people carrier like pic as the japanese imports are almost always petrol (even a 3 litre V6 petrol is able to drive through thge clean air zone with no charge).
I mainly just want a bed to sleep in and maybe some seating (convertible bed?) and a surface to cook on.
Anyone know if these will be much less roomy than a full-on van?
Okay, I'll be helpful.
Just this once.
>Anyone know if these will be much less roomy than a full-on van?
Why don't you go and actually see one in person and see if it's roomy enough? All you're gonna get from photographs is a rough estimate.
japanese vans are always much thinner width wise than German vans due to the nature of japanese road ways. it just sucks because you either have to build a thin bed or give up cabinets/storage/stove in your build. i live in canada and looked at delicas because they are popular here and they were always way too thin for a good build to live out of. I drive a vanagon and they are massive compared to anything from japan.
>I drive a vanagon
>Poverty is dead
Reminder that if you don't have a fixed abode, the police will be happy to provide one for you.
False
This has not been true in decades
Take a trip out to the west coast and see how many people dont have a fixed address and could not get arrested if they tried
It's the 6-pointed star with it's thumb on the scales to tilt the playing field.
Van lifing is dead because gas is $6.00 a gallon
I have to admit that it has slowed be down a bit
Nah bruh it's dead.
Thanks, Joe.
Thanks OPEC*
>inb4 "wuts OPEC?"
Yeah true OPEC set the price at $2.00 during trump but just hiked it up to $5.00 now for some reason. Greedy arabs
Like I said, It's all Joe's fault. Everything is Joe's fault.
nope, STILL STRONG, just that EVERY VAN now has a moped attached so that they can leave their van parked somewhere and go into town for groceries and booze with the little moped.
See
40mpg on low end mopeds, 100mpg on higher end mopeds
thats enough for a full month of moped driving
Anon the price of gas is too many
Correct. You aren't driving your van, with your moped, to the next state, let alone to the next camp site. The high has hit what, $10/gallon in Mendocino? Good luck passing through there in your van lol.
I don't move my van very often so it still works out ok
Just whenever the cops come along and tell you to frick off, right?
I have never once had that happen since I have no interest in hanging out where the homeless people are or being confused for one.
Not one knock and I have been doing this part time since 2013
Interesting links you guys may appreciate.

van life is youtuber shit. The only people I see doing vanlife stuff are retired folks which I have no issue with more power to them, and these trendy youtuber people who come from upper middleclass lawyer/doctor families that are just playing pretend.
I notice that most kids see it as a vacation and don't actually intend on living away from the comforts of society. The people who actually DEPEND on their van to live don't run blogs or instagram pages. They're busy actually fricking surviving.
I just use a bike, the only problem I had consistently was joggers or crackheads stealing it.
Yup. I carry on on my van too, with a lock.
Unfortunately some dickhead felt that I owed him a free bike, apparently, and bent up both my wheels and slashed my tires when he figured out he couldn't steal my bike.
Easy repair, but still. What an butthole.
Tbh if you didn't have any easy to cut lock, you deserved this.
what?
So you're saying I should just let some Black person steal my bike?
>gas prices soar
>van life thread immediately dies
What did they mean by this.
Maybe something to do with the fact that most vans get about 10 mpg. Downhill. With a tailwind.
His take is pretty stupid, the reason it dies is because it's hard to maintain a job while living in a vehicle, not even Covid created a big increase in remote jobs. I mostly see boomers doing it because they're retired and they own real camper vans. Being able to just drive around and do things every day is a luxury.
scooter life
I am financially ruined. Looks like van life is back on the menu.
It's too late.
They've figured out how to frick you over no matter what you do.
Van life is dead due to high gas prices.
/thread
No, van life died due to infestation by homosexualy instagram attention prostitutes who don't clean up after themselves, resulting in most localities making laws designed to get van dwellers to frick off. This process was set in motion long before gasoline ventured above the $3/GL mark.
Hot air balloon camper here-hows it going ground gays?
For me? It's the livinginyourcorolla life while applying for jobs that provide accommodations.
You forgot the /
Y'all are packing something to defend yourselves with, right?
Do you know the gun laws in all 50 states?
Which states do you avoid so you don't wind up automatically incarcerated?
>Which states do you avoid so you don't wind up automatically incarcerated?
The supreme court just overturned NY's bizarre gun laws. By that ruling you can probably safely carry in all fifty states.
You do you.
Don't take advice from YouTube.
Is it more based to buy an old van and fix it up, or just buy a new van?
The latter is more convenient obviously, but the former would a lot more fulfilling.
*would be
get something with some clearance anon
For what? You aren't four wheeling your van. That's what your feet and your mountain bike are for.
>You aren't four wheeling your van
You sure about that?
>You aren't four wheeling your van.
I am not rock crawling but I for sure cant get to where I camp without 4x4 and clearance
If you have an older van a posi you can get pretty far on that
Those fairings though? that wont even make it down a logging road
True enough. The best camping is found off-pavement, so although you won't be rock-crawling or mudding in your van, you'd best be prepared to transit some sketchy trails.
If you are a single male you should be living in a van. $10k for a van, $5k in solar generators and water tanks. Portable house.
Not at $6 per gallon. Lmk when gas is an affordable price again.
>rent is 25-50% income
>BRO GAS IS UP $80 PER TANK
Nah chief
So really it's going to depend on how often and how far you move. And really, unless you own the land you're parked on, you should move daily to avoid suspicion.
That's a miss.
>he doesn't siphon other people's gas
The gas thieves where I live just drill holes in your tank, take what they want, and let the rest spill on the ground.
do you not drill holes in them ?
Sounds like a good way to guarantee you will forever be a single male
More and more chicks are into it now
Not exactly women of quality, or else they wouldn't be dirty hobos living in vans.
Many guys in vans these days are not dirty hobos.
My van is worth about 70k and I own a home in a resort. I am not a vagrant
Op here, yes, I am a troony, jannie, troon. And a pos ZIONIST israelite too.
why do people think you have to actually live in your van lol?
Having a camper allows so much flexibility.
I can:
>live in my parents nice house that is about 40min from work during the weekend and just sleep near work in my van during the weekend and cut my weekly commute to nearly zero
>live with my parents during the week, commute in every day and go travel for the weekend
>easily get a job in places 2+ hours away because I don't have to live in motel until I find a place to rent
***and just sleep near work in my van during the workweek
how can it be dead? what's stopping you from doing it?
