Haven't they been training on them?

IDK, probably won't do much given the AA situation but it'll still be useful. Really they need lots of long range missiles and stealth fighters.

SEAD, but this time from the platforms they were meant to operate off of. Also once the floodgates open they will not only have access to western PGM's but can actually afford to take more risks with their aircraft.

While there is a lot I don't like about the F-16 it's one of the best SEAD platforms ever made. We are already giving them HARMs so we only need to throw in some TGPs and GBU-38s or CBU-105s.

              Nah its giving the fighters,
Much like printers the profit is in the long term MX contracts and parts upgrades and accessoires.
US goverment tends to pay the intial cost becuase having a countries airforce dependent in not pissing you off is very cheap but effective leverage.
Big reason the US has giving free F-16 abrams ect to all the countries with warsaw gear and then sending that gear to ukraine is to kneecap russian influance and mx contracts to thier MIC companies.

They want to save money by scrapping alot of old planes.
They have tried multiple times but people keep stepping in and saving them A-10 being the most noticable of the plane that just wont die despite all the best attempts of the air force.
I guess they are thinking if they give the warriors death the old guard will let them die in battle instead of die in retirement.

As much as I love the A-10 I can tell you from personal experiance it really isnt that great.
If I need persistant overwatch and a rocket truck MQ-9 or MQ-1 is far better plus much better playtime and sensor pod.
If I sustian heavy support AC130 is frankly far far better in play time, accracy, muntions load, sensor pod, and is able to maintian guns on target the entire time instead of just on passes for it.
Both are also prop planes so really easy mx requirements.

Man the Dutch are going above and beyond in support for Ukraine. It makes sense for the typical players such as the Baltics, UK/UK/CAN, Poland, etc supporting Ukraine, but the Dutch?
MH-17 has pushed the Dutch into a deep level of hatred reserved only for Russia’s neighbors.
From APCs, expensive small arms, SAMs (even Patriot), anti ship missiles, drones, radars, trucks, artillery, and SPGs.
Even financing weapons delivery’s such as T-72s as well.
With potential F-16s, it’s clear that the Dutch want the Russian Air Force to be erased along Ukrainian skies secure to vindicate those who died in attack on MH-17.

      >MH-17 has pushed the Dutch into a deep level of hatred reserved only for Russia’s neighbors.
I can't be sure but it's also possible that Srebrenica also weighs on the Dutch and has them not wanting to be bystanders to another genocide.
They really screwed the pooch on that one and they know it and because of their WWII history of collaboration, they have some national guilt about being complicit in genocide which made their failure at Srebrenica quite shocking to many Dutch.

Guilt from those things could have the Dutch population quite accepting of making some sacrifices to assist Ukraine.

        Anonymous

        > Srebrenica
I didn’t even consider this. I bet the events such as Bucha and the bombing campaigns on civilian infrastructure continually lit a fire under the Dutch’s’ asses.

The Netherlands itself feels very little guilt about Srebrenica because the guilt wasn't with them, but its "allies". What can a, purposefully, badly armed peacekeeping force do when its allies don't lift a finger? Dutchbat was sent there to be a scapegoat and everyone knows it.
Nevermind the militia using them as cover which the other balkanoids gleefully as an excuse to shoot at them knowing they can't shoot back.
        Frankly Srebrenica wasn't enough.

A-10 is the fuddiest of fudd planes.

The gun is an overrated piece of shit in times of PGM. Anything worth a gun run can me more effectively and precisely destroyed by the same payload in PGM. Trying to brrrt against anything that isn't a sandBlack person just will result in you eating MANPADS for breakfast. In Ukraine helos are lobbing their (also direct fire) rockets on shitty unguided arcs from beyond LOS for a reason.

Muh titanium armour might save your day once in 10 shootdowns and then you can parade the written off plane as some tough bastard. Most of the time, anything hit by any serious modern ad goes down.

The same morons who unironically think arming every Black folk and wigger makes for a better society unironically think the A-10 isn't an obsolete piece of shit resulting from obsolete cold war doctrine.
