He's talking about an art genre similar to furries but with aircraft morphed into humanoid forms.

You're right about Animorphs being shitty fetish fuel, though. 10/10 concept with 2/10 execution. Author had no fucking idea how to write a series and proceeded to write like 50, which obviously resulted in an absolutely unreadable trainwreck.

Skill issue. The animorphs series is a 10/10 execution and I read them every year. The yeerk torture and child maiming are too good to not enjoy yearly.

Animorphs snuck into book fairs under the "Lol is goofy animal book" with the shitty photomorph covers but the actual content was a shockingly competent execution of "What if aliens invaded and a group of teenagers with attitude had to wage a guerilla war against them in secret?" And it doesn't shy away from the fact that the answer to that question is "It would get really, really fucked up."

That one guy getting stuck in bird form for a long time struck me as a kid. Also several of them basically had PTSD from their friends dying or nearly dying.

The heros of that series do a lot of warcrimes and have significant PTSD issues. Also the Andalites are arguably worse than the Yeerks.

How so? The only flaw of Andalites I can recall was arrogance, rigidity, and failing to utilize their position as early hegemony to any real degree while Yeerks enslaved entire species

in the last books the andalites finally sent a fleet to relieve earth amid great pomp and circumstance and when the team found out and contacted him he told them that the fleet was too valuable to risk in direct combat and he was just gonna glass the planet and lie about it, iirc

I've always loved the conspiracy that suggests that these were government back furries (mechies?) that were created to get people to join the armed forces.

If this was actually the case, I wonder if we can convince them to sponsor a machine cult next, because getting my car serviced by a tech priest would be pretty rad.

I would kind of expect that, but I guess if you make the movement quickly enough and with minimal delay between turning and firing then you wouldn't have time to spin. Or maybe the missile is smart enough to compensate for it before it goes off?

            Idk. I'm just some guy.

because adding swivel mechanism doesnt increase weight, change structure, adds complexity or skyrockets cost by introducing new mechanisms that require additional processing power and silicone to do their intended role

The primary use is as a flight control surface, adding a massive surface to use for maneuverability in the endgame while not increasing drag in the rest of the flight like a bigger wing would. However, as [...] says, using a smaller but very directional warhead would let you increase the kill radius while keeping the missile the same size.

                https://afresearchlab.com/technology/mutant/

if manuverabilitiy is the goal, without drag, why not use conformal wings at the tip that can be deployed during final approach (wings like lets say airbrake on jets behind cockpit) instead of rotating half a missile

It doesn't increase weight more than adding explosive filler would to achieve the same hit probability. This is not new stuff, it's just taking it to an extreme not used before. RAM works on a similar principle. Your ignorance is showing every time you post

          >hypersonics going at stupidly insane speed

          >collision with even small shit will cause lots of damage

its part of why hypersonics are fucking retarded imo because its an extremely advanced weapon that fundamentally gets btfo'd by well positioned flak. The key is using something fast enough to get that cloud of flak where it needs to be at the right moment, which gets harder when you add in flight maneuverability to hypersonic speeds (which no country has really proven to work yet)

Nah you're overthinking it. We live in the lazor defense era now.

              >ultra high collimation, adaptive focus 40-100kilowatt beams with a 2-5km effective range
You could chuck billions into developing, building and supplying a thing like this for an entire US sized military and it would completely eliminate the need for SAM type defenses. 8-10 laser units on your cruisers and now you can downsize your SAM requirements to only what you need to kill a carrier fleet. A single Burke or Tico could stand off an entire last gen CBG.
Those anti ship drone swarms too. Utterly irrelevant with a laser network.

Kind of wish the GR guys could mock up a future battle with things like this.

if you want to make the argument that a CSG will run out of missile defense I would like to point out that the trillion dollar war machine that is the us DoD probably has far more detailed information regarding both the defensive capability of their own forces along with the potential offensive capability of any and all aggressors
they likely can use this fantastic level of information coupled with the massively experienced leadership can come to a better assessment than you

How does that follow? Using cheap, at the time, Chinese labor for manufacturing specific parts for a DOCK under American supervision in one case whose webm is spammed by wumao does not make Chinese missiles good, it does not mean that the Chinese can produce them in quantity without significant machining errors, and it does not magically make China wealthy enough to outspend the USA.

Countries where shit rolls downhill even when that's in defiance of the laws of physics tend to be pretty poor at war and god-awful at maritime escapades of all stripes, especially blue-water enterprises. Anyone who's ever been an officer on a freight vessel learns that in their first week when they have to go through the entire filipino mafia to get a two-hour job done because when they told the bosun (age 42) to get it done, instead of daring to delegate this to the man whose job it actually is (age 44) the bosun tells someone else (age 35) to do it who tells someone else (age 32) to do it who tells someone else (age 30) to do it who tells the lowest men on the totem pole (ages 23 and 24) to do it and then left them unsupervised so they then naturally dragged out the work as long as possible and still didn't manage to get it done right because they had no idea what exactly they were supposed to be doing, how it was supposed to be done or why it's done the way that it is. Which, of course, is why the order was communicated to the bosun in the first place and not to the men who actually ended up doing the work and the whole time this has been going on the bosun has been blowing smoke up the Mr. Mate's ass because as long as Mr. Mate doesn't know and therefore isn't upset yet then everything is fine. It'll get done eventually.

And then realized that unless it's a true airbreather, which the US is working on while China and Russia are literally repeating US experiments from decades ago that were then abandoned. Pic related, the Chinese "hypersonics" are just Pershing clones with the same flightpath and everything.

I always like to point out that according to definition of "hypersonic" that thirdies use (ie. that at some point in flight it achieves a hypersonic velocity), the fucking V-2 was a "hypersonic missile".

You forget the follow up part where the mate makes the grave mistake of trying to streamline the process by directly asking the guys who he thinks are responsible and as a response gets a surprised eye blink and a ‘not my job chief’.

Kek. I was running out of space in the post or I'd have added that and some more.

I genuinely believe from the number of bad faith and clearly nonsensical arguments I hear from the Global South on this topic that they believe they can just meme Western hegemony out of existence like orks in 40k. Like if they all believe hard enough the DF will turn into a real hypersonic missile and not a propaganda piece.

Well, that's the thing about propaganda: so long as there's a kernel of truth that's easily repeatable you don't need more. Does the missile exist? Yes. Does it achieve a hypersonic velocity in flight? Yes. Is it a geriatric joke that would fail hilariously against the missile defense systems of any developed nation, including and especially the US and its allies? Also yes, absolutely. However, only the first two points matter because the peasantry doesn't know or care about the intricacies of missile development, deployment or defense but CAN repeat "China has hypersonic missiles" and then the cleverer among them can point to a western source that accurately states the maximum velocity of said missile if challenged. If they ever get used it will be against their fellow thirdies and then despite the fact that it's a chinesium copy of a missile that entered service during the first Regan administration and was phased out less than a decade later it will probably work well enough to give them something to point to.

if you want to make the argument that a CSG will run out of missile defense I would like to point out that the trillion dollar war machine that is the us DoD probably has far more detailed information regarding both the defensive capability of their own forces along with the potential offensive capability of any and all aggressors

Yeah see the problem with this line of thinking is that when you're attempting this tactic it does nothing to stop the other guy from trying to murderfuck you right back. If your glorious hypersonics get intercepted and fail to prevent the enemy from getting within range, then you probably aren't getting another chance to take a whack at him. You also have to content with the fact that the fucking USA would not just send one carrier group to come after you. You'd have to deal with the airforce coming in from the opposite side of the globe to bomb your shit while you're busy trying to engage the US Navy.
In case you forgot, the USAF is the largest airforce on the planet, and the USN is the second largest airforce as well as the largest navy there is.

America has been making Piezoelectric winged aircraft for 25 years. It's just a Twitter capture. They'll probably declassify everything we've been doing with them in the next 10 years.
All the control surfaces on some spooky aircraft not mass produced Morph, radar cannot Id them because the angles and shapes are always changing and it comes off as fuzz even when spotted. Neat stuff when you see it in person. You'll see some of the older wings at air shows and conferences

Fun fact, every well known historical figure who is famous for being really really really good at one specific thing was probably kind of a fucking weirdo

According to leftist rewriting of history that is explicitly intended to uplift their own degeneracy. No wonder leftists love China so much, you both believe in history as a narrative rather than any kind of historical truth. A wumao will insist they won Korea to his dying breath, just as leftist teenagers today insist that Cuba and Venezuela are paradises and any evidence otherwise is a CIA psyop.

this is gonna fucking flop like most other things the chairforce and the corps surrounding it have made in the last few years. There isn't gonna be any meaningful improvement in aerospace tech until the diversity hire parasites are all purged.

This, better to intercept that incoming RKG-3 with the radar system to save on missiles.

People in this thread are retarded. No the purpose of this thing isn't to point the fucking warhead you absolute mongs. That's just a side thing. The primary advantage is the whole nose acts like a control surface, because it's curving rather than deflecting a panel it is a more aerodynamically elegant and efficient way of turning. I'm speculating here but I assume it's also got lower loading on the actuators, which is also a big advantage. Being able to point a directional warhead so that your intercept doesn't have to be absolutely perfect is an advantage but the aerodynamic advantages are overwhelmingly more important. All of this could be understood if you actually looked up the program but instead you troglodytes focus on the haha funni part of the video.

We have the best missiles in the world and are superior in every way to your country, though.
