probably mistranslation and they're not very aware of distinction between army and marines in US. in ukrainian they call everything military Army.

It's probably because in most language, if you are soldier you are "in the army". Then the army has multiple branches, like the marines.

Interesting how this guy is pretty pessimistic. Says Russians aren't as stupid as the media makes them out to be, how they've learned a lot since the begin of the war, how they have the firepower advantage and how Ukraine is basically constantly on the back foot, etc.
I do wonder if it's a bit of 'frontline misery bias' though. I get that when you're being shelled by the Russians and taking heavy casulties they don't seem that incompetent, but in the macro sense they don't seem to have learnt that much if you look at the recent Avdiivka meat waves for example.

There's so many russian units they constantly rotate between experienced and unexperienced squads. It was the same situation with the other interview with the ukrainian that had an eyepatch.
One day you get absolute retards you kill easily and another day they send veteran spetsnaz that surprise you with thermals and so on.
Truth is if nobody chimps out in russia again this shit is gonna keep on going for years. Of course you're going to be pessimistic when youre staring down another 5 years of war

I talk to Ukrainians too and ones in "the know" because I'm part of an NGO and I ask around. I was first a bit surprised as well at how pessimistic they were. I was fed on a diet of Perun, Daily Reports from Ukraine, Kings and generals, hell even reddit.
But then I learned about the multitude of serious problems the Ukrainian and government has. Corruption with donations, incompetent government, headbutting between the different branches, lack of proper military training before deployment (this was a big one I heard a lot) and C&C problems all around.
Still, to end on a realistic note and like Perun likes to say, let's look at the big picture. Due to the gross corruption and incompetence of Russian in the first stages of the war we forgot that Ukraine is a poor, corrupt, barely 2nd world country.

Despite this, It's worth looking at the big picture. The narrative went from "Oh Ukraine will fall" to "uhh, why aren't the Ukranians steamrolling the Russians faster with the second hand gear with drip fed dem?”, Who is getting F-16 with J-DAM packages, who has T-55 and who has Bradelys and Leopards. Who has better access to western resources and packages?

Different anon but a friend of mine actually went to fight in Ukraine and there are severe issues with mostly former Soviet officers and corruption in the Ukrainian military. It's better than the issues in the Russian military but that isn't exactly a high bar. You have to remember that the individual soldiers will always resort to doomerism even if they are winning because all they see on the squad level are people dying even if you are winning. This isn't me saying that Ukraine is winning or losing but rather that the perspective of the individual soldier is skewed because none but the very highly ranked ones have access to a lot of information.

Demographics is the weirdest cope for both sides. Ukraine's population is like 30-40 mil and russia's is 130-140 mil, neither side will run out of men before they run out of equipment, and even if we assume current 1k/day losses and extremely generous 20 years of monkey's lifespan left, that's just 7.3 mil. USSR lost 3 times that in WW2 and purposefully killed at least 3 times that many civies, and they still were feared by the west.

      I got you senpai.

Demographics aren't really relevant for the current war, but loosing a few hundred thousand working age men to the war is real fucking bad for a country that is already struggling economically.
Though it is not nearly as bad as loosing about a million of your wealthier and smarter citizens that jumped ship and ran right at the start.

not quite, 2 weeks ago when all the gaza shit was raging(again), the news reminded me about the ongoing ukraine conflict and i was kind of shocked to hear that it was still the same mess. there is a reason nobody gives a fuck about the dozens of conflicts on the african continent. they are rather small scale, they have a ridiculously complicated history that goes back 100 years and they will never end. the ukraine conflict is shaping up the exact same way.

I think you're confusing partisan fenagling with long term goals; aid packages being used domestically as bargaining chips actually shows the commitment to "continuing" the war as if the war had no support, the use of the funding as a bargaining tool would be completely moot.
The Ukrainian military is active, they're making crossings across the fucking Dnieper. The fucking Dnieper that got flooded, they're probing crossing it anyway. They'll outflank the defensive lines across the south's central if they commit to it. If you'll only believe it when you see it, then your projections of the war not moving are just as bullshit as mine are that it will.
It is a fact that Ukraine hasn't even fielded the f16s or Abrams and that the Russian navy is so totally ineffective it is absolutely laughable. Did you think that the Russian Navy was capable of fighting the US Navy? You have to be skeptical of claims at this point if you're arguing in good faith here

You're a clueless retard. US military didn't lose to the Taliban. US military ass raped the Taliban for 20 years. The Taliban had a 0% chance of ever beating the US military. The US negotiated a withdrawal of US troops with the Afghan government. The Afghan government falling to the Taliban later is irrelevant.
