What is the purpose of this? How long is it going to last? Why do the choppers keep crashing?

To figure out the reason for the crashes and fix it, until they've figured out the reason for the crashes and fixed it, that's what they want to figure out.
Any other completely fricking moronic questions?

It's for 24 hours. Flight crews get some safety training for a day then go back to flying. It's a nothing burger.

    >How long is it going to last?
until they figure out why the chopper crashed
    >Why do the choppers keep crashing?
If they knew that they wouldn't need a stand down

The increase in crashes is more likely related to aging helicopters suffering from fatigue rather than pilot error.

They crashed into each other twice recently, totaling four helicopters of course and killing quite a few people.

They will attend an extremely long PowerPoint presentation about how to avoid crashing into your buddy, and possibly some sort of test or exercise.

These things do happen though, especially when you’re pushing peoples limits to make them better. The collisions don’t have a lot in common so this is probably just a big safety show from the army to the public.

    >something bad happens
    >stop and try to find out why
    >implement findings and increase safety and quality
I love how this concept is just lost on Black folk and ziggers

    >second mid-air in one month's time
    >pilots are burdened with tons of additional duties that distract them from flying
    >pilots expected to do a 12 hour duty day and then come in for a goggle flight the same night
    >pilots are not making minimums and losing proficiency, then expected to fly demanding missions with inadequate crew rest.
    >"Dude why are our pilots crashing? Damn, no more flying guys we need you all to complete this class on how not to crash so it looks like we're addressing the problem."
    >"By the way, we still expect you to fly the missions that we're cancelling because of this stand down so get ready to fly your asses of right after we get a green light."
Helicopters are inherently dangerous, so it's understandable that these things happen. It's pretty concerning how inept they are at addressing the actual causes of these crashes, though.

Army flight school has like a 97% pass rate. Isn't that interesting? Even then, you should see how fricked up some of the US's partner nations are lol.

tl:dr the west has fallen, it's over
