Ukrainian female friend's dad got conscripted. I want to help my friend assemble a care package for her dad

Ukrainian female friend's dad got conscripted. I want to help my friend assemble a care package for her dad
I can gift her:
- my 119 buck knife
- tactical flashlight
We're thinking about buying:
- multitool
- moisture wicking socks (merino wool? or synthetic)
- long term snacks
- powerbank

What else can I add to our care package?

    What is the budget here?

Here's my half-assed list of "shit a grunt wants to have", other anons who have been grunts should add to it.

    - Red lens headlamp
    - Cheap, light multitool you don't give a frick about losing or breaking
    - Good socks, merino wool is the best choice here
    - Good underwear that doesn't chafe, shooter's preference
    - spare batteries, AA and AAAs are always needed
    - A powerbank that doesn't suck ass

Don't give him a big ass knife, it's just more bullshit to carry around. If you have the budget, I'm sure he would appreciate a solid optic for his rifle, or some night vision. I guarantee his unit is short optics and night vision.

      >Don't give him a big ass knife, it's just more bullshit to carry around
A survival knife that can be used for battoning might be useful, even if it's going to be kept in a trench and handed around to whoever needs it.
Maybe a survival hatchet might be better though, you know the kind.

A multitool will definitely be useful.
If you can get them, look into bamboo socks, they're antimicrobial and stay fresh for a long, long time.
Snacks run out quickly but some pepper and hot sauce can make life bearable.

    >Shelter
    tent/bivy + waterproof footprint/groundsheet or tarp (silnylon),

    >Sleep
    Z Lite SOL sleeping pad
sleeping bag - synthetic (so it dries out easily) with a liner. Yes, get a liner.

    >Pack
as light as your budget allows and as large as you can comfortable carry, you can use the sleep pad as an ersatz internal frame.

    >Clothing
    antimicrobial undergarments & socks.
insulating thermal mid- and outer-layers (thermal long johns, shirts, & packable down vest/coats)
waterproof rain shell (FROGG TOGGS are good on a budget)
insulated winter coat (packable is always nice)
glove liners, abrasion resistant work gloves, and thicker, insulated gloves for when they’re sitting around outside in the cold
heavy balaclava for sitting around in the cold, light skiing facemask or hat for when you’re moving around
    Eye pro/sunglasses
    Boots - comfortable and waterproof
    >Mess kit
cat can stove (takes most liquid fuels, unbreakable)
    lighter
    800ml or larger cookpot/cup
    spork
    bandana (to handle hot cookpot)
    >Hydration
    aqua mira tablets
Bleach solution (cleans gear, treats water)
water bottle/bladder (I really like the Platy 2.0L Collapsible Water Bottle, they fold down flat)
water filter and case (keep this in a pocket in an inner layer to prevent it from freezing if you’re outdoors)
    >Toiletries
    toothbrush & toothpaste
    floss
    safety pins
    ziplock & stuffsacks
    latex gloves
    lip balm
    body wipes

    >First Aid
splurge on this shit, everything from extra tourniquets to SAM splints, and plenty of extra meds (especially antibiotics, acetaminophen/tylenol, loperamide / Immodium, diphenhydramine / benadryl)
    gauze pads
    medical tape
    duct tape
    antiseptic wipes

    >Misc

paracord & carabiners (endlessly useful, can be used to pull mines or tripwires, as a sling for weapons/gear, to make temporary shelter, or even to make a litter to move wounded)
multitool with a can opener, pliers etc

Look up people in country or that have been and listen to them (any number of youtubers; nucking-futsyuri, Civ Div, BigMacsBattleBlog)

If money isn't that much of a consideration, Holosun/Aim Point Red Dot & a kill-flash for it [reflective to IR, gets people killed], Leatherman, warm under garments, soft body armor (over sized, cheap Italian surplus ones with the neck protection are nice), a lot of wool socks, Vitamin D3 + K2 in 10,000 IU or higher dosages (trenches are filthy and they aren't getting sunned, this keeps him healthy), Red Lens headlamp (night adjusted vision retention inside dug outs), a quality IFAK (do research), a bottle of Iodine for water and wound sterilization, KATADYN water purifier [ceramic filter more or less infinitely reusable on anything not chemically contaminated],

And anything he asks for specifically. Send family photo with whatever you do send and write regularly. Small things matter and a letter's tactile, unlike a phone call.
