Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kherson is on the way!

The Armed Forces of Ukraine broke through the first line of defense of the Russians near Kherson - operational group of troops "Kakhovka"
The operation appears to have started with overnight HIMARS strikes on command centres and bridges.
Also n the #Kherson region, the "109th regiment" of the so-called "DPR" and Russian paratroopers moved away from their positions, the #Kakhovka military command center reports.

Nothingburger. Shots get traded all the time in Kherson, it’s a fricking warzone. There is no push, just WW1 style stalemate.

  4. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Neither side is going to make serious gains unless the other entirely collapses. It's a war of attrition and trying to build up enough of a force to try for that next big push.
Ukraine's advantage is having Western support. Russia's in untapped manpower (but full mobilization may as well be admittance of defeat and direct war with NATO.)

      Anonymous

Also there's no way Putin can explain full mobilization to his own people after 6 months of "everything is going fine and as planned"
It looks like they're trying to build the "actually we're at war with NATO" narrative though so that might help

        Anonymous

It's a stalemate. Ukraine has taken horrible damage that disrupted the entire way of life, and that will take a lot of time and money to fix. I know Ukraine wants to restore their 1991 borders but that is a tall order at the moment.
Russia's damage is a long-effect, right now the average person is isolated from the war's effects but that will change when more lives are demanded. Plus the constant sapping of technology and resources from other nations who are protesting their war. I really do think if this drags on for years that the effects will culminate in Russian revolution.

Putin doesn't have to explain anything, he's a dictator who can easily force or brainwash enough of the population to do almost anything (except for vaccination, but it didn't help that he was basically wink-wink nod-nod to the anti-vaxxers). A full mobilization is hard to do for various reasons, but he can easily do a partial mobilization of 100-200k. Whether it makes any sense militarily is another question as conscripts like this without at least a few months of proper training can at best be used for territorial defense and won't be of any help at all in offensives.

Some twitter threads claiming that the Ukrainians pressed a small part of the frontline and the DPR regiments there routed, followed by the Russian regulars and so Ukies continued pushing and are positioned to outflank other parts of the line. Probably real, but considering that vatnik accounts are trying to magnify it by calling it a "million men offensive", I suspect it's just probing attacks or shelling of some exposed positions.
Vatniks always hype up imaginary offensives for their forces to stop heroically. E.g. the massive armored columns Russian troops supposedly destroyed around Harkov.

    > From the very morning in the Kherson direction, the dill was completely fricked up. They shoot from everything they have, and they now have a lot. Our big mistake was to allow such an intensive and deep militarization of dill. Time is not in our favor, we need to radically change the strategy. There is a big risk of losing Kherson. We have no idea what is going on in the Kremlin, but I imagine that Shoigu has been the main source of information for Putin, telling Putin that things are fine in Ukraine, and now Vova has grown tired of his excuses and decided to cut him out of the loop.

Why doesnt the West just make the offer then? I can't imagine some Churka living in the mountains with no toilet wouldnt jump at the chance to live in the US or UK

Is it against the Geneva Convention for one side to just tell the other if they surrender, that they can come over and live a better life unimpeded? Or hell even tell them to come over and fight for their side?

I have a feeling at this point most Russians (not the vatniks) would just as well prefer to leave that hellhole and start a better life somewhere else.

      Anonymous

No, every living Axis soldier by the end og WW2 was scrambling to surrender to the Allies, not the Russians. Those who managed to break out of the Siege of Budapest (some 300 out of 28000) tried to make their way to Bavaria to surrender to the Americans. They could have just surrendered in Budapest to the Soviets, but everyone knew what that meant.

        Anonymous

Primarily because surrendering to the Germans early in the war had often been a death sentence. Summary executions of everyone who wasn’t a private wasn’t uncommon and the gulags had higher survival rates than German POW camps for Soviet soldiers.

      Anonymous

It's not against any law of war, but you'll probably be deported when the war ends. Being a POW isn't like being a rapefugee, you don't get any legal recourse to stay. And Ukraine will probably be ethnically cleansing its fifth column after this, so fat chance of getting to stay.

You can totally apply for refugee status as a PoW, saying you might face persecution at home. Which is likely true, given how Russians treat their veterans, especially if they lose. On the other hand Putin might not want hordes of disillusioned vets coming home from the front to a collapsed economy, wife fricked by a Chechen etc

    >Breshut. Phoned the guys in this area, they say that the ducks are preparing to flee. They took out both the civilian and military command of Nikolaev. All documentation was taken away a month ago.

    >Apparently they need at least something to give them to the people, so they articulate nonsense.

Another fake of Ukrainian propaganda, which was readily picked up in the West: Ukrainian militants allegedly launched an offensive in the southern direction. This is the same information stuffing as all the previous ones, as well as virtual "attacks" of the Crimean Bridge, which the sofa troops of the Kiev regime have carried out more than once. Ukrainian formations are suffering the most severe losses both in the south and in all other directions. But the Western masters need to demonstrate activity, so a gang of drug addicts and criminals is doing what it does best: imitations and the manufacture of information fakes. And drug addicts do not feel sorry for people who are thrown to certain death for the sake of achieving an informational effect.

A Ukrainian fighter who is fighting in the Sands, Vladimir Regesha (Santa), spoke about the difficult situation in the Sands of the Donetsk region, and about the difference between the statements of officials and the actual situation at the front.

"I am pleasantly amazed that we are winning everywhere, liberating cities and villages every day, putting the enemy's bodies in cubic meters and squeezing equipment by the thousands. Zaluzhnye, Arestovich and, Markus and the like, I appeal to you: I am proud that I live at the same time with such heroes as you. You win everywhere, and ignoramuses like us suffer everywhere. Our arta does not shoot as accurately as yours, our aviation works out in "milk", our tanks are not so swift in attack, our infantry does not die so heroically, we do not have successful counter-offensives," he wrote.

According to him, when he asked for help for the military in the Sands, they began to look for him "all over the front to give p@zdy."

"In the dry balance — about @baly Sands, reporting somewhere "up" that everything is in place and that "everything" is extremely effective.

PrepHole is incredibly influential on society because most of the deadbeats that lurk here also post on other sites, in the past this meant memes spreading lightning fast through society, now its being leveraged for political gain, in other words we got weaponized some time last decade and its no longer about funny cats or mudkips but about undermining societies.

    From UKIs telegramm

    #Layout #Rumors
Our source reports that the attack on Kherson is led by a political bloc, namely the Head of the Presidential Office, Andrei Ermak. As we know, Zaluzhny was against the attack on Kherson, considering it idiocy and a waste of manpower.

Informatively, the President's Office is pumping up its offensive well, which has not been particularly crowned with anything now, except for a million posts in social networks.
It is necessary to wait a couple of days and if the situation on the map remains the same, it turns out that once again the offensive has failed. Someone once again drove the boys to slaughter, for political and PR purposes.

    #Rumors
Our source reports that the APU has no global territorial successes in the Kherson direction.
There are losses. They say they even lost the chopper.

Many sources indicate that the strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to simultaneously hit all parts of the front (exactly where the cities are), then disperse it in order to provoke panic among the civilian population in Russian territories.

That's the whole goal. Just what price will be paid in the end??

You're late, Ukrainian shill. It has already been officially announced that there was no offensive. You should have spread your fakes earlier.

I get there are people with differing sides or opinions on this conflict and discussion and disagreement is healthy for wading through all the bullshit. But the genuine Russian shills are making the threads almost unusable now. It's just constant spamming copy and paste jobs of absolutely nonsensical drivel. There must be a good number of trolls just doing it to shit up the board but some of them read like actual bots/shills.

Thats the appoint anon, they don't want to convince, they don't want to appeal. They simply want to muddy the waters of discussion so much, it makes any casual observer disregard the topic entirely. That's when they fester and collect more morons to do It over again on other topics.

Sources say this was done without Zaluzny's knowledge and its shaping up to be a major blunder they will lose hundreds by nightfall. Zelensky okayed this without his CIC's knowledge. This is very bad for Ukraine if shit like this is happening.

lurk more gay tldr: he formed DNR, former FSB, now "retired". Still has contacts on the frontlines tho. Often makes doomposts about Russia's inability to fight in Ukraine without mobilising
