Ukraine Power Grid has been destroyed

Seems like it took such a huge loss of face to make Putin finally stop his cuck warfare and strike civilian infrastructure.

There are 15 thermal power plants in Ukraine right now. None of them were built after 1991, that is after gaining independence. The number of thermal power plants built in an independent Ukraine is 0. All existing thermal power plants were built between 50s and 80s

After 7 months of SMO, Russia has finally started taking out Ukraine's power grid. Each destroyed thermal power plant is an irretrievable loss for Ukraine, just like the loss of a refinery.

Basically, Putin is the biggest cuck of all times. If he was nearly as evil as people make him out to be, he would have long nuked Ukraine.

      Consider this then.

    >let's use our limited missile supplies to terrorize the population instead of hitting logistics and incoming Western supplies. Surely if we make life hard the populace will support surrender.
Literally Hitler going for the Blitz to terrorize the Brits when letting them stagnate in their own impotence to go on the offensive would have done far more to make them seek peace. All this sort of thing has ever done is make the populace more hard line.

You have rockets for HIMARS and the HARMS that are fricking up your AA and supplies coming through infrastructure choke points and you choose to use your limited number of missiles to temporarily knock out power in a tantrum instead.

Russian command needs to ask themselves, "does this action maximize our chances of winning the war and how?" and stop thinking of propaganda victories. This is like hurling a bunch of missiles after the Moskova. It caused no longer term damage whereas hitting logistics could at least give you temporary local advantage.

The leadership is incompetent. This is what a drunk enlisted man or Russian patriot at home would come up with.

      Putin was waiting for winter.

Firstly it continues economic strain on the west, makes eastern europe look moronic as they sold their energy independence.
Possibly would kill western support so he doesnt have to meat grind for territory.

Ukraine actually mustered a counterattack, so he turned off their lights.

Obviously this infrastructure was in their control but they dont want to foot the bill to rebuild it if they dont have to.

How is waiting for winter not a valid perspective or tactic?

Battle lines have gone static with billions of dollars in equipment flowing in, and Russia is still only partially committed.
Western economies are hurting and parts of europe are already publicly preparing for energy shortages.

That support is increasing costly to governments that have to rationalize to their citizenry why they should go cold to protect NATO interests.

At this point, it hurts the west more than it hurts Russia to drag it out.

                >ruled by the Greens
Oh shocker. But what you vatniks don't get is that Germany has federal states that can decide things for themselves (hence the multitude of various covid rules they had) and don't just adhere to one man living in his lalaland fortess like in Russia. So what that fricker in Baden-Württemberg says isn't reflective of all of Germany.

yeah, obviously the past few days werent static

              that's the point
the power and water infrastructure was obvious retaliation
they wouldn't have gone down if they hadn't counterattacked

they expected to retain it because they're not interested in paying to rebuild it
its consistent with the idea of russia waiting it out, because they expected to western support to fail or decrease and why lines were relatively thin
they were just holding that line

        >Putin was waiting for winter.
Putin's conscripts are gonna freeze on winter without proper equipment and logistics to supply it.

This is direct retaliation for yesterday's counter-offensive, so he can go back home and claim SOME kind of victory to his demoralized serfs, even through the energy has already been restored and attacking civilian infrastructure helps him in no way strategically.

          Got it in one
They peppered the front line almost indiscriminately into civilian areas to show they were doing "something" to damage Ukraine to give some hopium to cling to.

Not a bad idea. It would severally damage Ukraine's economy and force them to spend more resources that could be used on the military.

        Doesn't matter.
        Ukraine belongs to Ukrainians.
