            >(Bureaucracy fricked us)
It really isn't. Instead, bureaucracy constantly gets fricked over, The german procurement office has ~7000 employees and has ~1700 unfiled positions. And they need highly educated people. But because nobody wants to work for the Bundeswehr, they can't fill those positions. But the work has to be done nevertheless, which means there are two possibilities: Projects have to wait until other projects are completed and bureaucrats are free to work on them - or you hire consultants. Consultants have the high qualifications you want, they can work immediatly, but you have to pay them a lot of money.

But then the press and politicians will go absolutely apeshit on your for being "wasteful" and "too bureaucratic" and they try to "reform" your agency, only to find out that they can't fire any more people because there aren't even enough for the agency to work properly in the first place.

And then you are back to step 1.

Oh, and if you wanna get equipment back to working condition, you gotta have to go back 10 years and tell conservatives that they are fricking idiots for banning the bundeswehr from buying spare parts in reserve.

if my experience with belgian procurement is any indication you can get the job done with less than 3000.
It's a common thing that the bureaucratic part of western europen armies are needlesy bloated. Because the procedures they use require q frick ton of time qnd pqper for even the most stupid shit. Need to fix a padlock? here 13 pages to fill out and you'l get it in a month.
even the fricking museums have more flexible structures when it comes to procuring stuff.
Not every procurement is for an fing tank most are just for mundane civilian items that don't need the strickt ass procuremnt chain.

              >Belgium
Are you kidding me? Belgium doesn't have an MIC like Germany, military research facilities. Ffs the Belgian navy only has one frigate and that's it. Procuring just for the German navy is an insane project, and they have to managed harbours and docks and holy shit so much stuff.
Now imagine this for an air force, an army, research and testing...

3000 people is absolutely nothing for the German mlitary, and for the Belgian, it's obscenely too many.

I don't think people truly understand just how absolutely dogshit of a condition the German military is in, the state really let it fricking rot following the fall of the USSR as if the good times of peace and stability on the continent would simply never end.

A lot of the slow-walking of actual asset and equipment aid to Ukraine is because of how undermaintained everything has been with politicians trying to distract from the internal clusterfrick by pretending its mostly political issues holding up the assistance.

and ukies would be glad to receive anything, even unmaintained shit

yeah, everyone mocks the US for their perceived warmongering, but when war comes knocking at the door in europe, germany was completely unprepared, they are arguably the most powerful country of the most powerful economic block in the world, germany is in the big leagues know, they cannot keep acting as if they are "above" having a functional military
