I am sort of curious as to why Russia barely touches Kiev. The only thing I can think of is that Putin is waiting for the media to go away. The very last thing he wants is for NATO to come in. Russia’s hydrocarbon revenue stream for mega yachts and palaces is at risk currently. He desperately wants to grab or at least threaten the big gas deposits to stop the West from cutting Russia out of the market. They already managed to make one big development deal to collapse due to proximity with the post-2014 war and Putin has to make sure those will remain out of the picture. The Black Sea fields are under Russian control and will probably stay that way. But they can’t take forever the longer they spend on this invasion the closer they get to Europe pulling out of Russian gas. It’s life or death for Putin’s oligarchs.
