Does the West lack for glide kits to give? (because it never though it's need standoff bombs because it always assumed complete air dominance?)

Pretty much. For American war planners, glide bombs are an answer in search of a question; much better to use Tomahawks and HARMs to dismantle air defenses and then just JDAM everything.

Worth noting that the median is more useful then the average, billionaires and deca/hectomillionaires up the average quite a bit but don't give the real picture. That said it doesn't change the relative overall because the oligarch and greed problem in Russia is far worse. Median US income is around $37600, whereas median Russian income is around $5800 lol.

Yeah PPP does mean certain stuff is cheaper in Russia, but it's much less then in other countries because their domestic capacity is mediocre. Resource extraction industries generate plenty of hard cash but they are inherently linked the global market pricing, and converting that into goods directly means lots of imports for which PPP offers zero help.

And of course being a garbage ridden kleptocratic shit hole with crappy services vatniks "pay" (directly, or in terms of years of life expectancy) lots more for other stuff.

SBDs, jdam-er, fricking JSOWs have been around since forever.
it took the russians 20+ years and loosing alot of planes in a war to realise that if you dont have any good optics or targeting pods for your planes that you can use cheaper gps or glonASS guided ammunition.

Fricking journalists are massive morons. The hope isn't that it will be "more effective". The hope is that they can put to use some of their huge stockpile of soviet legacy iron bombs.
I swear to God journos are the biggest unwitting disseminators of Russian talking points.

Western journos routinely write fearmongering/demoralising titles, in an effort to incentivize the population to support ukraine more. You don't get more gibs if in western europe everyone says everything's alright, because europe, regardless of what amdricans and turdies might think, has its own streak of problems to deal with already

    >Ukraine is making its own glide bombs
Doesn't shock me. They've started to gain aerial dominance. They've recently started flying sorties over Russian soil.
Russian AA is being hunted to extinction.
Barely two days passes without an 'eternal flight' notification.
And they're about to get a bunch of F-16's.
Having locally produced glide bombs would be icing on an already deadly cake.
    Happy Days.

And this is why I mentioned the zrada. Case in point. Developing domestic capabilities isn't an argument against the utility of aid, and journo-thots who can't even into high school level calculus, let alone m-code, need to shut the frick up forever about the "failures" of GPS guided munitions in ukraine. >trying to match
Ukraine has vastly higher standards than just "trying to match" cargo cult chimpouts. Ukie glide kits will probably have about a 1 to 3 meter radius for point of impact, not the 1 to 3 km "targeting" krokodil mongols brag about.

  22. 1 month ago

So what? The USA only gave SDB that glide. Ukraine wants something bigger.
The USA is not going to give them the bigger ones, because those also have longer range. The USA also did not give stand-off missiles.
