This literally happened with every "info blackout" so far. In the first Kherson push there was an info blackout and we didn't hear about anything aside from a view villages being taken, then after a few days turns out that's exactly what happened. In Kharkiv and the recent push in Kherson we had updates in real time when Ukraine would successfully capture a village, because that shit was getting leaked and uploaded to social media instantly.

          > In Kharkiv and the recent push in Kherson we had updates in real time when Ukraine would successfully capture a village, because that shit was getting leaked and uploaded to social media instantly.
incorrect, the telegram posts lagged about a week unless a resident hunkered down posted which was only the case in a few towns further East near the end of the run
the "real time" you are referring to was a lag of 4-5 days on average

            Anonymous

This isn't true at all, literally every major place that was captured had a post on /k/ calling it the day it happened based off social media posts where Ukranians posted vids and could be located, and in the days beforehand people were calling what places were being cut off and captured based on the same info. There was never a complete information blackout where we didn't know there was a successful push until 4-5 days after, we knew shit was happening basically the day it happened.

              Anonymous

your picture is a great example, Ukrainian recon had cleared Kupiansk and began sweeping by 6 September on the later FIRMS estimate, yet publications began claiming entry only after 10 September and your post is 16 September (the cleanup)

                Anonymous

That was my frick-up, looking through the archives /k/ was reporting on Kupiansk being taken much earlier. Wiki says that Ukranian forces entered Kupiansk on the 9th, so we had updates on it basically the next day.

                Anonymous

Even if there is a slight delay, I don't buy the idea that there are these hidden offensives that we're just not hearing about but will hear about in 4 days time. It feels like if Ukraine was taking places, we'd hear about it within a few hours.

                Anonymous

                >Wiki says that Ukranian forces entered Kupiansk on the 9th,
Wiki is reporting on official announcements that were delayed by design because it bans original research
the 9th would be a 3-day delay from the actual siege of Kupiansk, which is well in line with the known fact that the UA is operating a media blackout even if it isn't always perfect

  27. 1 year ago

    >impose media blackout because you don't want the public to know the amount of losses you incurred for a political/propaganda gain
Ukraine doesn't allow freedom of the press anyways so idk why anyone acts like this is some big news

It's probably this. Ukraine loudly announced they would launch a big assault on Kherson, when they really meant to divert Russians from the North and take Kharkiv.

All the Russians fell for it, moved to Kherson and are probably mauling the Ukrainians who weren't seriously intending to attack there. This war is so hard to follow because you can't believe anything unless both sides admit to something in agreement because it's too big to lie about. Although the trend I noticed is whenever the Ukrainians/NATO mouthpieces are silent on something, they fricked up. Whenever the Russians frick up they spaz out with huge doses of copium and try to contradict reality. Their propaganda game is way weaker.

but that's dumb anon because we literally saw the russian right flank on the west side of the Dnieper collapse in real-time, so obviously the russians can't be mauling the ukrops too badly.
