Ukraine and Taiwan

They have some of the strongest special forces in the world. Definitely enough to be a match for Russia/China. Plus Taiwan is rugged, mountainous terrain (unlike Ukraine which is flat Eurasian steppe) with extreme atmospheric conditions over the waters and this is why the US would know when to tip Taiwan off about an invasion months in advance, because there's only certain times of a year when it's even safe to cross those waters. Taiwan is also the reason sanctions are crippling Russia militarily, because their precision missiles used Taiwan-made parts which is why they're running out and resorting to bringing 20th century weapons to a 21st century war. In fact, during the D-Day era, during Operation Causeway the US military even referred to Taiwan as an "unsinkable aircraft carrier".

Taiwan has two weaknesses: it's fricking small and it can't be easily supplied by allies in case of a blockade. Without direct American intervention it can't hold for too long.

China can "easily" take Taiwan though

Casualties don't matter when you have literally billions of bug men.

They do, though, because china desperately needs productive workers to support their aging population. If a significant number of working age men died they'd be saddled with fricktons of homeless old people.

A Chinese Police unit has more combat experience than any Taiwanese SOF you can think of.

You're talking of the only people involved in the South China Sea disputes that FILIPINOS are willing to shoot at.

Breaking the backs of the Uyghur Insurgency and drug raids into Burma without the Burmese even noticing constitutes of combat experience, so yeah the Chinese Police is more experienced than any Taiwanese SOF.

Meanwhile the last time the Taiwanese ground forces engaged in combat was what? 1959 when they got driven out of Burma by the PLA.

1979 in the Sino-Viet War and the Border/Islands Clashes with Vietnam in the 80s

When was the last time the ROCA saw combat? Oh that's right the Civil War lmao.

That’s correct. /k/ often dumps on the PLA’s lack of recent experience—but forgets that their opponents have even less.

NATO is mistaken if they think that a Chinese offensive would be met by resistance from Taiwan. Majority of Taiwanese soldiers will lay down their arms & join the Chinese before they shoot a brother. The west will never understand the cultural link between China & Taiwan.

Anon... you could find a drunk hobo living under a bridge, give him a gun, and it would be adequate "special forces" against russian conscripts.

idk about taiwan but Ukraine literally has NATO tier SOF, as in certified, which puts them in the top pack.

Sorry but I’m not sure I would compare the two.
Ukraine was highly motivated to defend themselves even to the points of what we see today.
Taiwanese are either pacifists or want Winnie the Pooh to rape them.

you can't win war with special forces alone. so taiwan has good special force, but taiwan conscripts are pretty weaksauce.

Ukrainian forces are perhaps one of the weakest in Europe. Taiwan forces are perhaps somewhere on the level of Chinese forces: extraordinarily weak, just different reasons. PLA are weak because they’re thoroughly corrupt, even more so than Russian forces. Taiwan’s weakness comes from not taking their physical security as seriously as they should.
