    rosomak is an ifv?
i thought it is apc (Ukr got a bit uparmored and with 30mm auto canon turret slapped on top thus loosing ability to swim from iraq campaign but still its not an ifv?)

I feel like every time one of these articles comes out some poor fricking dude in the logistics department has a stroke trying to cope with whatever Pokemon addicted zoomer is snapping up all of this equipment. At this point I feel like we should start a giant bingo card for all Western military equipment they probably have most already

This is neat. Sweden really fumbled the handling of Ukraine. Could have been a once in a lifetime marketing opportunity and they let an old out of production american IFV steal all the headlines.

    question here
why most vehicles have no angled armor on the sides?
usually just the front and turret is sloped

      Anonymous

Same reason the Abrams looks like a low-poly brick. Sloped armour is mainly useful for steel against older AT weapons (think ww2 and the immediate post-war), sloped armour has been mostly obsolete for decades because modern AT weaponry (shaped warheads, penetrating rods, etc.) just punches straight through steel so it became impractical to keep making thicker sloped armour. Composites are where it's at now, being far lighter and thinner than steel but superior at deflecting or breaking up rounds. Sloping it doesn't really do much due to the speeds and energies involved, it'll either work or it won't.

        Anonymous

you still see sloping within the composite array

Angling reduces internal volume meaning you either have to sacrifice/decrease certain capabilities or make your vehicle wider which is shit for logistics
And all that to improve protection by maybe 15mm when you already only got like 50mm of armor?
Thats basically nothing when looking at all the modern munitions both handheld and vehicle based
Also considering when most threats to the side of a vehicle is Infantry with Portable AT which all use Chemical Warheads who care even less about angling
So most militaries now just Slap ERA onto the side to counter that or are introducing APS
Only Angling the Front makes sense because thats where almost all your armor is so Angling is more effective and you can get like 100mm of protection out of it on top of your already thick frontal armor
Making a vehicle longer to accomodate angling is also less restrictive logistics wise since you know truck trailers and train carts are significantly longer then they are wide

Also this dude is just plain wrong
Composites are angled all the time

Meaning that the Ukraine has burn through its stock of BMPs to the point it has to entirely rely on an assortment of foreign handouts which are completely incompatible with each other. Same pattern as with tanks, artillery systems, anti-air defense, fighter jets and, eventually, manpower.

Not sure tbh. I've only ever a part, season 1?, of " Servants of the People". It wasn't a bad comedy, he arguably was convincing as a teacher turned president that is feels out of place like a fish out of water. Not a must see but certainly not bad.

He has one of the leads in the greatest comedy-tradgedy put to film, the Russian SMO. Season 1 - :Kiev or bust" was really groundbreaking, season 2 "Dude, where's my shells?" had some highlights and we'll see how many more we'll get after season 3 "The wienerolds of Luhansk".

This has been in the works for a long time, and ten of them are already being manufactured in Hungary and Germany.

It looks like they're significantly ahead of schedule as well, by more than half a year if they get these out before 2025.

    Article from dec 2023:

“Once the contract is signed, we want to have the first wheel-drive vehicle ready in Ukraine after about six to seven months – and the first Lynx after twelve to 13 months,” Papperger told WirtschaftsWoche. Production of the Fuchs from Ukraine will be possible from late summer 2024 and the Puma competitor Lynx could follow in the summer of 2025.

Papperger wants to deliver newly built battle tanks to Ukraine much earlier.

“The first ten Lynx vehicles are already being manufactured here in Germany or in Hungary in co-production between us and Ukraine,” reported the manager.

“After a ramp-up phase, we should then quickly be in a position to produce a significant number of these vehicles entirely in Ukraine.” The federal government has signaled that it will grant the export license necessary for production.

honestly if it works out for them they're going to have a hilarious head start in the MIC that'll develop in Ukraine after this war. there's no world in which i think Ukraine doesn't keep up wartime production and just exports their weapons and veterans as advisors. if it doesn't work out though it'll be a hilarious failure of a gambit to be studied later.

They are trying to wash away the sins of rebuilding russian military prior to the invasion. They've literally build the only modern tank training complex in russia, continuing the contract after 2014 and dodging sanctions by setting up a fake intermediary company.

i think of these sorts of things every time someone says time is on russia's side.

as time passes russia becomes more exhausted whereas ukraine gets access to more factories and more production.

i don't think the west is ever going to "lose interest" in this war. how could they? it's on europe's doorstep, and that's enough to drag america in. so long as trump loses the next election russia's defeat is, imo, inevitable.

CV90s can be attractive for a country looking to buy a design that they can build in country. Performance wise, I’m of the opinion that the lynx is superior.
