Btw the only time Gerasimov has been """seen""" since january is a video where he is allegedly handing out medals for Avdiivka, but there's nothing in the video which timestamps it and nobody says anything about Avdiivka, so it's almost definitely old footage and he's been ACK-ed lmfao

Yooks hit a command building in Crimea around the middle of January, apparently got quite a lot of officers but the scuttlebutt was that Gerasimov was visiting at the time.
Vatnig shills went absolutely ballistic over this one, by far their best success at spraying shit everywhere to cover up a pocciyan catastrophe.

Yeah I think he would show up from time to time, probably second behind Shoigu for prominent military figures.

Injured and mindfricked is also good for Ukraine, after all these corrupt motherfrickers are so ensconced in their rat kings that they can never be replaced for mental incompetence.

Both Gerasimov and Sokolov didn't die but mostly likely were wounded. Gerasimov especifically he was likely wounded in 2022 during one of the first HIMARS strikes and he's been under treatment since hence his few appearances, he disappears when he's getting treated.

        >they are finishing construction on a new port near Georgia that is going to cause some.... issues
Its not near Georgia, Its in Georgia just in the bit that Russia stole, like Crimea. Russia will have to return that land as well you know. Russia will never be allowed move warships to the black sea again after threatening Turkeys grain shipments. That's over. It can;t seem to build them anymore either so if Russia does waste money constructing a port on stolen Georgian clay I suppose the ultimate beneficiary is Georgia when it gets its clay back after Russia's attempted annexation.

      >MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. Russia will begin repairs of the Minsk big amphibious assault ship of project 775 of the Baltic fleet damaged by a Ukrainian strike in 2024, a source close to Crimean law enforcers told TASS.
      >Another Crimean source earlier told TASS the Minsk was likely to get the superstructure of the Konstantin Olshansky former big landing ship of the Ukrainian Navy. In 2014, she was abandoned together with 20 other warships in Crimea. Project 775 has a superstructure made of aluminum-magnesium alloy.

In other words the Minsk (pic related hit in September 2023) was about to get the superstructure of this ship so the Ukrainians decided to scuttle it. Fricking lmao.

It was captured in Sevastopol in 2014. By that logic every time a Russian ATGM crew kills a captured T-72 operated by the Ukrainians they're destroying their own tanks.

        > "abandoned"

Those ships were taken by Ukrainian officers who turned traitor. When ordered to defend Crimea against the vatnik invaders, they raised a vatBlack person flag on their ships and sailed them over to join the vatBlack person navy.

Treason and perfidy, literally wearing Ukrainian uniforms while delivering them to the enemy. The Moskva was one of those ships. Not "abandoned" or "captured." You lying frickstain.

The Ukrainian Republic has never controlled all of this territory though... Everything to the south of Ekaterinoslav was under Makhno's control, Kuban was controlled by the White Army and local Cossacks, almost all northwestern lands were occupied by the Bolsheviks, and the West was under German military control. Crimea was also semi-independent back then, there was a Crimean Tatar autonomy, and there were the White Army troops.

¿Are you trolling? Sovereign Ukraine did not exist in 1914, and it was not recognized by anyone then. It was only in 1917 that Ukraine was granted autonomy within the Russian Republic by the Provisional Government, and only in early 1918 was it officially recognized as a sovereign state.
                >soviet White army
¿What? Oh, you're trolling, because there was no such thing as a "Soviet White Army", it was anti-Soviet (or anti-Red) by definition.
                >BUT T3H UKRAINE NEVER CONTROLLED THEIR OWN LAND
It is factually true, though. Look, I want Ukraine to win and go back to the December 1991 borders, which are internationally recognized by everyone except monke and some of his allies from meme countries like Abkhazia etc, but let's not revise history here. Ukraine claimed control of all those lands on the map then, but it only controlled ~60%, the core of Ukraine. Kuban, Crimea, the Northeastern regions, Makhno's anarchist commune in the Pryazovia, and some other territories were never under full control of either the short-lived Ukrainian Republic or the Hetmanate.

Yeah exactly - these frickers wanted to be not-Russian so fricking much that ordinary men and women put it on the line for real and faced off armed riot police with fricking saucepans on their heads (because by then it was illegal to wear a helmet) and a hundred of them died and frick knows how many were badly injured but they won. Any time you see Russians or their simps say "oh but it's not fair what could a normal Russian do if they tried to protest they'll be killed," remember that the Ukies were prepared to accept that price for the kinds of rights that we've all grown up with, and Russians aren't. That's the difference, at the end of the day.

I don't think the Russians would be bragging about the death of a ship that's been in their possession for a decade, anon. I think they're openly talking about it because it's basically nonfunctional, they wouldn't say this this quickly for an operational ship.

what is the tactical advantage of producing AShMs (which can be substituted with storm shadows) instead of using this industrial capacity to build missiles to strike military airports (where you cannot use western missiles due to red lines)?

      Anonymous

the (absolute) state of russian shipbuilding means that ships are far more difficult to repair let alone replace, compared to airports which can be fixed far easier in comparison. thus, naval targets are more strategically valuable, necessitating AShM/USV production.

Russia may also have difficulty replacing planes but it also simply has more of the damn things. They're less of a threat to Ukraine's economy, too. If Russia can lock down the Red Sea then Ukraine's going to have a much harder time keeping the lights on, to say nothing of the ease of launching weapons.

The question was not about the necessity to sink ships (not a question, TBSFD), but rather whether the (supposedly limited) Ukrainian industrial capacity should be redirected towards land attack missiles since they are the only ones who can produce missiles to strike high value strategic targets in Russia.
also BSF seems to be bound to ports nowadays and for the open seas there are sea drones/western munitions.

Hitting planes is much harder then hitting ships, and cratering a runway does fricking nothing. The CEP required for doing something practical when striking an airbase, plus the need for very time sensitive ISR to actually know which hanger/parking slot to hit, requires a completely different kill chain and missile then something that can be told "go to this harbor, turn on your terminal radar seeker, and just b yourself :^)" to the point that the only things they're going to share are some basic machined components and not the hard to make electronics, and switching over the factory to make a completely different system is going to be expensive as frick so you might as well build another factory to house a new production line since the building and people manning the line are drops in the bucket, budgetwise.

Best way I managed to confirm these claims has been through this account https://twitter.com/KilledInUkraine

When the 13 SUs shot down spree was happening, pilots eventually started pop-ing up in this feed. Same with the sinking of ships last month. I don't doubt we'll see more sailors in the coming weeks on that account. Remember, pilots and ships are manned by officers, high profile individuals in their village/city/family. 80% of them end up in obituaries.

Which is precisely why I think at this point in the war, Budanov would be well served to dedicate some resources to a serious campaign to murder five or six Tu-22M pilots in their beds while they sleep, both for morale at home and the effect it would have on the morale of the bomber force.
