    >Cope cage
That term was for early war when they thought they couldnt counter Javelins and Nlaws. I dont think you can call them Cope cage for anti drone stuff seen as though it works.

That's not how the phrase works at all. To steal from Wikipedia
          >Special leave is given for men to be out of barracks tonight till 11.00 p.m.; "The exception proves the rule" means that this special leave implies a rule requiring men, except when an exception is made, to be in earlier. The value of this in interpreting statutes is plain.
          Or
          >A human has two arms. A person with more or less arms is considered deformed, but still human. The recognition of that deformity proves the rule that humans are suppose to have two arms.
Whatever moron mental gymnastics you took doesn't make a lick of sense.

There is no rule. A cope cage does frick all against FPVs since they mostly come in at a shallow angle. It's only effective against the bomb dropper drones.

its still a cope cage because the current meta are highly agile fpv drones that just go under the cage

This, I barely ever see drone drops anymore, and only exclusively for infantry. It's all kamikaze drones now

Bro the "meta" when the war started were ATGMs. Drone drops only were always shit against armored vehicles and were mostly used to destroy damaged or abandoned vehicles.

Kinda figured the cages were more a case of: In ukraine the Russians were told they'd be largely fighting an insurgency before being proven very fricking wrong. Don't forget how much moronic vatnik propaganda was spouting on and on about how most of the Ukrainian military would defect or just disperse in the wake of russia's promised reunification.

With that context and the additional knowledge that the majority of active combat experienced Russian contract soldiers were fricking around in syria before the Ukraine bowl. I assume the contract guys learned how to counter the cheap drones dropping frags and vogs down there. They applied the cope cages to their own vehicles, and presumably that behavior proliferated those modifications among the length of the invading russian units in preparation for counter-insurgency. That insurgency never really precipitated the way they thought. i.e. low intensity ambushes and opportunistic drone drops, etc. Instead they were getting their shit pushed in by a motivated military with modern ATGMs and other kit far more effective than they expected.

People with no knowledge of the drone game in the middle east see the roof racks and figure they're for javelins or other top attack weapons. News media and propagandists run with that angle either out of ignorance, or because it makes russia look dumb as frick. In their original intended purpose, countering drone dropped explosives. The slat roofs appear to help with the formerly quite common straight down dropped low yield stuff. Both sides switching from that format, to mostly FPV's with penetrator's proves that there's at least some benefit to avoiding hitting the cages when possible.

Cope cages are a good idea. British posters especially don’t like this because they are obsessed with Russia and Russia popularized the cope cage. This statement is fact and anyone who disagrees is a coping brit

My point is, my moronic friend, that Israel also adopted that strategy and there could be an increased chance of survival with cage vs. without cage.

then you are just as moronic as both these brown countries cause it has been proving time and time again in the slavic chimpout this does nothing

So what? This is a new meta.
Hard to predict, how tanks will look like in 10 years.
    It's kinda like interwar period

      Anonymous

The irony of interwar tanks was not that they were bad (French and Brits) is that the tactics that went with them were bad. 1v1 a French or Brit tank would rekt a German tank. But the Germans didn't use a single tank surrounded by infantry (aka 'pocket tank' tactic) but 10 tanks together. So you might be a better armored and better gun Brit or French tank but you can't stop 10 when they flank you, get rid of your infantry support and you're demolished if yo u don't retreat.

However there isn't really much you can do now to deal with the drones except anti-drone measures. There is no solution of 'increasing armor' or 'increasing firepower' or 'increasing speed'. You just have to deal with drones.

There's increasing EW. To be fair, it only works for first worlders and one day there'll be autonomous drones.

bro Russia made their new special anti-drone shotgun shells
the drone problem has been solved

          Anonymous

And is it a standard protection on their tanks? No? Then new tank designs have to take that into consideration. Expect to see laser systems to react to all flying objects and try to deal with them. Until then you gotta disrupt the drones in the area, rather than on a specific tank. This war just makes all these insurgent groups and 'rebel groups' or 'freedom groups' all the more potent.
