There is no field combat check to rule out the possibility for intubation or some upper airway procedure later. But that being said, it's just water.

      >find the notch
      >go to clavicle
      >count down two ribs
      >pull out that 14ga pin
      >go overtop the rib
      >straight down when you insert
      >remove needle leaving tube
      >watch relief wash over GSW victim

You a current or former medic? 4th or 5th ICS midaxillary line is more "stylish" now at least in most ERs but honestly I would imagine that the classic location that you pointed out would be easier to find if you're in a hurry. Either way it's a scary procedure to have to do under field conditions.

It's not that its more stylish, its that research shows more successful placement with this landmark. The % of successful placements in the field without ultrasound is not great though.

pneumothorax is a collapsed lung, giving him water won't hurt him.

      Anonymous

Wetting the lips prolly wont hurt but wont help except his mouth wont be so dry for a blisfull fiew minutes

Letting him gargle down a bottle is probably a bad idea

Rubbing honey inside his cheeks (top, not bottom ones ) wont hurt or help.

Victims of serious injuries like massive bleeds, pneumothoraxes, open stomacs are weak, sometimes feel sick, are ussually laying on their back, And are at a risk of passing out

having something in your stomach that can potentially be thrown up while unconcious and laying down could easily lead to aspirational pneumonia. Aka shit that is not supposed to go into your lungs does so anyway,

Shit: like stom*ack* acid and bacteria on food for example.

Also serious injuryes usually require surgery under general anesthesia which involves pain killers like opiates for pain, and sedatives+ some other drugs to cause general anesthesia. There are a lot of wienertails of drugs but most contain something that causes nausia and can cause vomiting. Patients are intubated to prevent that but why take the risk.

Pain is the patient's problem. Would you rather be hurting or suffocate?

Same rule applies to the TQs youre all running around with, now. Crank on it until the bleed stops, not until it starts to hurt.

How is an organism supposed to avoid something inside their own body?

              Anonymous

Its your bodies way of telling you something is wrong and take appropriate action such as hide or recover. example; if your thigh is broken you cannot run, your body will continue to feel pain until that thigh has healed enough to the point it can be somewhat used again therefore conveying to your brain you cannot run effectively from a predator until the pain is gone. same thing with a bullet in your body. its your bodys primordial way of saying "assume position of comfort, take appropriate action, avoid avoidable risk"

additionally god is fake and so as a result the people who have been enviromentally fit enough to transfer on their genetic DNA is because of feedback loops like this. pain is a good-bad thing

Alerts you when something seriously wrong is happening, and stops you from functioning like normal since stressing the damage any further could make it worse/lethal. There's a condition I forget the name of where kids are born with no pain at all. Look up the video maybe, there's some little girl who scratched her own eye out when her parents weren't looking because she had no pain response telling her to stop.

So Russia is doing it to fight the israelites? What happened to the Nazis?

          Anonymous

Russia is doing it because they have no future if they dont expand their influence and close strategic gaps that eastern-central present on either side of the carpathian mountain range. Either NATO or Russia will exist in the future, not both, obviously russia would like to avoid the scenario where they arent around anymore.

The white nationalist parts of the Ukrainian forces are only a subset of the people fighting. The ethno-nationalists needed more time to grow their ranks and become a political force within ukraine. Now that they are being systematically annihilated by russian artillary, the long noses get to kill two birds with one stone. So long as Ukraine doesnt win or win too fast, They'll happily eliminate the ethno-nationalists and lose an oblast or two to accomplish that. Remember the israeli population was the first to leave the country only days after the invasion?

I'm not sure, I don't know enough about their involvement in the government of russia. I would assume it's the same position they always put themselves in. Leadership roles with the ability to make a hasty flight out of the country if needed. So long as Putin is around, their influence will be curtailed from total take over. Their end game could be to eventually force a coup within russia to remove Putin once enough damage is done to Ukraine in order to seat one of their own at the head of russia and then take both countries in their entirety. This winds up being a weird scenario where Russia is "liberated" and joins NATO and the endless march to homosexuality and degeneracy.

            >Strategic gaps
Its not 1945. If anybody is invading Russia through strategic gaps then nuclear weapons are flying because that is literally what they are designed for. The fallacy of Russian leadership and advocates claiming strategic gaps and using the Carpathians as a natural defense are either:
            >Full of shit because any existential invasion of Russia would precipitate a nuclear response and this is their stated official policy let alone what nukes are designed for, so the goal is much more sinister and this is just a grifting cover to sound legitimate.
            >Know their nukes don't work so strategic depth actually IS important
            >Fear advances of a superior neighbor/foe making nuclear deterrence invalid as Russian nuclear capacities atrophy and American's advance.

    Storytime, but frick greentext.

I had a pneumothorax once in 98. I went to a Gocart racing track and crashed. Had a sharp pain in the chest, but thought nothing of it and raced on.
Turns out got a tiny hole in my lung. The opening let air between lung and inner lining of the rip cage.

The inner lining of the ripcage is very sensitive, so 5 minutes later i had to stop due to almost unbearable chest pain on the right side. The opening in my lung acted like a valve, letting air in, but none out, so the pressure went up, my lung got compressed more and more.

My other side was ok, so i had no problem breathing flat, but deep breathing become impossible, the higher the pressure built up. 10 minutes later we decided to call an ambulance.

I was brought to the Bundeswehrkrankenhaus in Wilhelmshaven, as i was still in service back then.
They took an MRI, you could see the lung crumpled together.
So i got local anesthesia, they cut a tiny opening, put in a drainage tube and hooked up a water sealed pump, which pumped out the air between lung and ripcage lining. My lung inflated in two minutes or so and refilled my rib cage, which was painful, but breathing was instantly getting easier.

The tiny rupture in the lung tissue closed itself and they removed the drainage tube two days later, which was very painful again.

This guy had two far lager openings into the ripcage, so he must have felt the effects of compression a lot faster and a lot stronger. Mind you, i was calm and collected, this guy is under stress.

Fricking tumor tubes, it's what forced me to get TSA pre-check to avoid those things at all cost because I will go to my grave believing it's what gave me cancer.

Imagine laying in mud with a cheast wound and no idea when anyone is showing up to do what? Drive miles over potholes and maybe other wounded screaming dudes. If you make it you will be so fricking sick you might die from that. Frick war.
