training gun

i would like to get a training gun that mimics the functionality of an actual handgun so being able to wiener/dewiener the hammer, release the magazine, rack the slide. is there something like that being sold? SIRT guns are a little out of my price range and blue guns arent exactly what im looking for. so other than airsoft replicas, are there any that fit the description that you know of?

realistically, i dont want to spend more than like $100, wouldnt matter if it was all plastic as long as its still functional. i looked into prop guns and most are quite expensive (though they do look nice). i forgot to mention, im getting this for my nephew and maybe my girlfriend if i manage to change her mind about getting some training.

no problem! i wanted the same thing recently so i did the research recently. also to elaborate on what "top firing" means, it's when the barrel is plugged so you don't accidentally ack yourself like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon-Erik_Hexum

front firing is the opposite; the propellant fires out the front of the barrel

also if you get a .22, it probably wont work with the remington blanks from the hardware store. the site sells the blank gun specific cartridges

i wanted it to be a gift for my nephew. his dad isnt a "gun person" but agreed for me to teach him a little bit. i wanted to get something he can play around with and learn the ins and outs.

Get him an Umarex blowback pellet gun for $50. The PX4 has the safety/dewienerer in the wrong place but otherwise has parts that work as you'd expect. If dad is worried about safety simply don't give him any CO2 or pellets.

        >specifically "training" gun
        Airsoft.
        >no not airsoft
Load your real one with snap caps.

Airsoft for on his own, range time and instruction from you in person with your real gun.

Honestly, a pellet gun might be just the thing. That's how I got started, my dad got me a Red Ryder one Christmas when I was a kid (yes, he made the joke, that's his favorite Christmas movie).
Dunno if that sounds like too much for the dad, so you might want to ask him first. I just know that my dad also isn't much of a gun person, but he was fine with me and my brother having those pellet guns. They taught me a lot about respecting weapons as well, I once had a round ricochet off something I'd shot and it hit my little brother in the ass. After that I definitely made sure it never happened again. If you want a pistol for him, I might actually recommend something airsoft.
It also wouldn't hurt take the kid to the range with you sometime, or just show him some of yours, unloaded of course. I also learned a bit from handling my dad's Beretta, and eventually I had a .22 SAA clone of my own. Let him use the pellet gun and occasionally handle your unloaded guns with supervision, and in time he'll be ready and responsible.

these bruni top firing blank guns seem to be decent. the only thing i dont like which i just found out about is that the de-wienerer doesnt seem to be functional. so ill keep looking but if i dont find anything better, im most likely going to order one of these bruni guns.

most /k/gays would rather shoot themselves than purchase an a*rsoft gun because those are kids toys and they're big boy grown ups

Funny considering half of the people here probably played airsoft. I genuinely don't see the difference between airsoft larpers and people who act like t rex arms except one is spending a lot more money to do the same thing.

It was extremely popular about 10 years ago, and it may very well still be popular but I'm not in high school anymore so I don't know what kids these days do.

I wouldnt worry all that much about dewienerer and safety and all that, I'd be more focused on hold, aiming, stance, etiquette, trigger pull, recoil control that kind of stuff. For that I'd say get a glock brand glock blowback pistol. Way better training tool than any stupid dry fire system that garandthumb or whoever the frick else tries to advertises. Only $100 on Amazon and it mimics a glock pretty damn well, obviously triggers going to be different and it's not going to have hardly any actual felt recoil but it still will be a huge help and you can shoot it in your backyard and shit.

Buy a cheap glock barrel (https://www.combatarmory.com/combat-armory-barrel-fits-glock-19-new-9mm-match-grade-barrel-threaded/)
Fill the barrel with epoxy and a dowel.
Paint the barrel and dowel orange.

OP here, a little update in case anyone gives a frick, i mentioned this to a friend and he put me in contact with his friend. i bought one of his old co2 blowback pistols, generic 1911/2011 style pistol, quite scratched up though got a good deal on it. i also got one ampule of co2 and like 3 mags worth of bbs so should be more than enough for him just to get familiar with it. ill take both my brother in law and nephew to a private range tomorrow and yea, thats it really. everyone, thanks for the advice, never really posted nor browsed this website but im glad to know yall are fine folk. god bless all of you and have a nice day.
