So the Russians have built another new version of the TOS.
Further reduced rocket count from the TOS-2, and ERA and armor layout of the T-72B3M

cope cages always made some level of sense against shit like FPV drones. Only issue on tanks/APCs is they were implemented in ways that made them death traps for the crew. This MIGHT spare you a sympathetic detonation. Probably not but it's at least not actively detrimental like a lot of cages.

Its actually just really weird how Russia pretty much threw away everything for this completely pointless war. Putin is losing his army, his dignity, the support of his people and everyone is fricking dying. This will undoubtedly be disastrous for the country in the long run? And for what? They were considered one of the world's great powers like the US and China. Just fricking invest in industry or something and it would have been fine. Why throw everything away trying to take over Ukraine? Surely, deep in his heart Putin knows he fricked up, right?

Not fighting it would be “throwing away everything he had”. His government and the dynasty being built around his and his circle’s children all goes away if he loses the European energy market, something was guaranteed to happen if he let Ukraine develop their newly-discovered reserves and use their control of the people network to replace Russia ad Europe’s energy supplier. It’s not a moral or a “good” reason but it fully makes sense to him and his circle.

Look at opinion polls on Russia in Ukraine from pre 2014

If he hadn’t gone full moron it would still be a friendly country to Russia. And with nordstream he’d still be selling to Europe even if the Ukrainians stopped transit through the country. Honestly Russia lead competently could be in the same position as Norway today. Even if it was lead at Arab levels of incompetence it could be Saudi Arabia lite.
I can’t think of another point in history where so much opportunity was wasted.

Even if Russia had no natural resources what prevented them from doing what the Baltic or Central European countries did after communism? Or even the Balkans? I think just about anyone would rather live in Slovenia or Croatia vs Russia.

This is the mental thing. All Putin had to do was wait out an election cycle, have his guys in the Russian parliament run interference so nothing could get done, cut his losses with Yanukovych and install another Russian guy in Ukraine.
Literally like 4 years. And it almost certainly would have worked. Instead he went full monke and turned Ukraine against Russia probably for a full generation if not more.
He's got to be the absolute worst strategist of modern times. Literally everything he does blows up in his face.

Yeah my guess is it's gonna be MUCH longer than that. He basically took Russia's little brother who was very culturally aligned with Russia, and handed them a modern founding myth on a silver platter. And that founding myth is entirely based on resisting a Russian invasion. Ukraine is gonna turn into the next Baltics, politically speaking
The only way to reverse that would be to actually take Kyiv and install a puppet government

Russia hasn't changed much in 500 years. At bottom is a neurotic view of the world borne from insecurity due to a particular history and geography, and backwardness compared to neighbors which it'd take too long to get into. But invariably Russian rulers end up sitting at the top of a pyramid which they sense is relatively archaic, fragile, and artificial.

They're not communists anymore but Marxism landed there because it offered up a vision of an omnipresent war but with a basic altruism of purpose which provided justification for these fears and insecurities, and a reason to extend the limits of police power of the state ever more and isolate the population further from the world. It was a continuation on a centuries-old theme and without it they (I'm referring to the Soviet leaders) would have just gone down as the next group of cruel and wasteful Russian leaders in a long line of them.

This system does not work by fixed plans. Offense and defense are confused. It's impervious to logic or reason... but highly sensitive to the logic of force. Secretiveness and conspiracy pervades the government. The possibilities of distorting information are infinite. All facts might as well be instruments for one ulterior purpose or another. All propaganda aimed abroad is basically negative and destructive, like a malignant parasite that feeds on diseased tissue. They will, as a rule, try to stimulate disunity in enemies (that is you, btw) and mercilessly exploit any perceived weakness until the internal harmony of your society and traditional way of life is destroyed. But their system can only handle dependents, and abroad -- people who are rabid garglers of Russian propaganda dick.

This is relatively easy to combat. You just have to keep frustrating them over and over until they collapse (and, oh, they will). Keep slapping the ball out of their hand.

The problem with "get along, we need unity, muh solidarity" homosexuals like you is you give Ruskies and Chinks too much credit and given your low opinion of them that's saying something. They are themselves even worse at assessing the effectivness of their own propaganda let alone the potential outcomes of success. You have a US government which bends over backwards for foreigners and fears its own white population, and for good reason from a libtard or israeli perspective. The Chinks and Ruskies see any disunity as a weakness because their civil wars inevitably end in a very shitty government after years of fighting. A civil war in the US would be over in 6 months and likely result in the formation of a genocidal empire with no only the opposite politics of the current regime but utterly lacking any moral scruples or the desire for "face" in any form. It would rampage around slaughtering billions by bombing and starvation blockades, and just plain buy off any allies it may want like say Japan. And because it would be run by white Americans who love Taylorism and actually know the basics of how to create a logistical framework for a war I don't think it could be stopped. Every other party is so weak right now they wouldn't have a chance. So ruskies and chinks should really ask themselves if they want the US to undergo open civil strife. If I was them I'd be doing everything I can to support globohomosexual in the US, not try to incite whites against it. But then again if they weren't moronic they wouldn't be Russian or Chinese now would they?

The TOS-1 is like the only cool vehicle in russia's line-up of tracked shitbox death traps. Actually every single tracked vehicle they depoy. And now they fricked it up by ruining the ammo capacity, and importantly aeshetic proportions, in favor of a cope fedora

      Anonymous

      >cool
The rockets themselves would be cool, except for the fact that their range is so shit that it puts the launcher in range of counterbattery from every damn thing on the battlefield including drones. Which I guess is why it's set up on a tank chassis - except that that doesn't actually help it from exploding since its ammunition is so volatile. So in reality it's a fricking piece of shit terror weapon that's only useful when the enemy doesn't have the assets to fight back. How many successful barrages have the Russians even gotten off with these?

TOS-1 was my favorite Russian vehicle from the first year of the war but after drones flooded the battlefield they had become much less effective. The problem with them is that they’re all boom with little range and poor accuracy. The accuracy is made up for by the weight of fire and size of the boom saturating areas — but if you can’t drive batteries of them up to the front and volley fire then they make much less sense. TOS-3 will only make sense if it has much further range and MUCH greater accuracy. To get the range a lot more of the volume has to be rocket fuel which means that much less charge so accuracy must go up that much more. I’m suspicious of the quality of Russian INS. But who knows maybe the TOS-3 benefits from newer INS from China or something. If they can fit a GLONASS module on them that may be better as GLONASS is resistant to jamming so why not — but considering all those electronics have to be imported who knows if they can justify the cost.
