To keep it brief;
>Had 1,500$ to blow
>Bought pic related (for about 300$)
>looking back I could've just got the real deal 7.62
>got it for SHTF, maybe hunting coyotes.
Thoughts? I mean it looks nice but people clown 22lr. Am I fucking stupid?

yeah
that's what I figured, fuck me man
eh
get a scope adapter and slap a red dot on there, then use it for varmints and shit
copy that, where should I look?
In my defense, I had no long rifle at all so this is better than nothing?
Yes but you should have gotten a 10/22
I thought about that too after I got picrel. I how it looks and from what I understand they're really reliable. you live and you learn I guess, I just came of age and didn't know what I was doing when I got it.
>At best it's for rabbits and punching holes in paper.
>Just take the $1200 you've got left and buy a WASR and a 1000 round case of ammunition.
I spent the other 1,200 on a 12g and PSA dagger.
That fuckstick is incredibly irresponsible and should be lambasted for giving anyone the idea that this is reasonable to try.
Can you do it with correct shot placement and distance? Sure.
Does that carry an incredible amount of risk and rely much more heavily on luck rather than skill? Fucking absolutely.
Notice how he mentions one came within five feet of him?
Someone is going to think this is a good idea to try and replicate because this mouth breather made it work, and they're going to get fucking got by a male with tusks.
fuck me man
>you live and you learn I guess, I just came of age and didn't know what I was doing when I got it.
that's fine, anon. just be happy you spent the 300 on something you regret instead of 1500 on something you regret. Even though its not ideal its still something you can blast trash with, which is always fun. Or sell it.
10/22s are nice rifles. 100+ mag cost for that ak is really shitty though, I would definitely see if you can try and sell it to someone. Even if you get half of what you paid its only a 150 dollar loss, but thats 150 you can put into something better. Its very easy to make an oopsie as a first time buyer who doesn't really know what you want
>just be happy you spent the 300 on something you regret instead of 1500 on something you regret
that's a good way to look at it, next 1,000$ I can blow what would you reccomend?
depends on what you want out of a gun and how much you have to spend on ammo. 10/22 is a great place to start, there are plenty of good 22s but the 10/22 has a lot of fun aftermarket to toy with. I would say just get a barebones 10/22 with iron sights, and once you get used to it, see if there is anything else you want to add or modify about it. There are also some great bolt action 22s for not that much money. If you are okay with paying more per round, or want something for more 'practical use' a mid-range (~5-700 dollar) ar15 is always good. If your first choice was an AK though, assuming that's something you like, that is a good option too.
what do you mean 'fit'? If you mean magazines, pretty much all 7.62 ak mags should fit 7.62 aks, and 5.45 ak mags fit 5.45 aks.
>what do you mean 'fit'? If you mean magazines, pretty much all 7.62 ak mags should fit 7.62 aks, and 5.45 ak mags fit 5.45 aks.
I'm meaning as far as stocks go and scope mounts. There is alot of parts made for ak's but Im worried if I were to get a folding stock or scope mount it wouldn't work because my ap80 is a .22 not the real 7.62 if that makes sense
Anon you're not the only one with fucked up incorrect gun purchases I can assure that.
>bought some garbage .22 "AK" for SHTF and yote killing
>"Am I stupid?"
You're not stupid OP. You're straight up retarded.
It's not stupid, it's just a 22lr.
Nobody "talks shit" about 22lr.
You might be stupid though because you think it's reasonable to expect to hunt coyotes with it. If you presented this as your hunting rifle and it wasn't a joke, I'd talk shit about YOU 100%>
At best it's for rabbits and punching holes in paper.
Just take the $1200 you've got left and buy a WASR and a 1000 round case of ammunition.
I picked pic rel up for 350 about a year and a half ago and slapped a folding brace stock on it.
Fuck the ATF btw
I like that
Reported to the ATF.
.22lr for shtf is retarded, for coyote it's borderline unethical. Just because you can hunt large varmit with it doesn't mean you should. You bought a gun that's cool and fun, but it's not going to do what you'd originally wanted it for.
I love 22lr but I think 22lr clones of existing guns are kind of lame. You could have gotten a more purpose built 22 instead for that price, that one looks kind of like a toy/movie prop version of an AK.
from what I've read it was used in a couple movies in the late 80's / early '90s.
And yea I realized I should've got a 10/22 after seeing mags for this ap80 cost 100-180$ . I am confirmed fucking retarded
I wouldn't regret it, it's still something fun.
Get a yugo underfolder stock and have a smith put that in, that seems like it'd be a good time.
Some guns can just be range fun, they don't need a legit purpose.
I've got a PPS/50 22LR that I love, but the mags are crazy expensive and parts aren't easy to find.
It's a great time just because it looks cool.
I've also got a 10/22 and a bolt action browning 22.
You don't have to limit yourself to just the one 22.
>yugo underfolder stock
that would be awesome but how do I know what will fit this and what wont?
Im learning these ap80's aren't made anymore so how do i find out what will work and what wont?
Honestly I don't know much about them, but I would assume most AK furniture could be made to fit, so long as it's got relatively similar mounting points to actual 7.62/5.45 AK rifles.
Bring it to a gunsmith sometime and ask what they think about doing something like that just for fun.
I've never held an actual 7.62 AK so i'm just making assumptions but im afraid if I were to buy a scope mount for an "ak" it wouldn't work cause mine is a .22. I could be wrong but i feel like mine is not as wide all around making it incompatible with real 7.62 ak parts
There are a few different ways to mount AK optics. The main ones are side rail, dust cover, and handguard. Pic related is side rail, but not all AKs have them to attach to. You might be able to use the handguard to swap out for a railed handguard, but I am not sure if the one you have is compatible with standard AK parts. Looks like it could be, but I kind of doubt it. Also being mounted so far forwards and being so short of a rail section means using most magnified optics is impossible. There are also dust-cover mounts, but the dust cover on your rifle seems to not be compatible with aftermarket as far as i can tell. Also dust cover mounts are iffy about holding zero, and need to be removed for cleaning.
I wouldnt suggest buying an ak in 2023 but if you really want one get a Wasr. The Rs regulate mount is the best mount I've used, the b33 is also nice but good luck getting one.
Just buy a FN15
regular AK furniture will NOT fit Adler Jager guns. on that note, they made (as far as I know) the only 32 ACP rifles like pic related. it sold for $700 on fuddbroker last week
That’s pretty awesome but I kind of wish they made it in .380. Or a .32acp Sturmgewehr
Used to own an armi jaeger ap74 the gun was useless. Jammed all the time.
Bought it for 700nok (70$) in 2017.
Was the closest i could get to own a real m16 in Norway
Unironically cool. Always love to see and hear from international gun owners.
>Am I fucking stupid?
Yes.
You couldve gotten an AR for $100 more
>about 300$)
>it looks nice but people clown 22lr. Am I fucking stupid?
Yea
But at least you got it for as cheap as possible, not like you bought it for $600 plus. Still have enough cash left over for a Zastava M70 or M77. Just keep it and use it as a .22lr burner that teach you how to do your clear drills when it jams.
based. I heard those guns are cheap pieces of shit but fuck me if they don't look neat. have you shot it yet? how reliable is it? shame that mags are $150 a pop
what the FUCK is that
that is an AP-74 FS anon
does it rustle your jimmies?
I'd pay stupid money for a .380 ACP rifle like
forgot image
they didn't make a sturmgewehr, but they did make these things
Yeah I would just def take a .32 Sturmgewehr over one of those .22 ones that are out there.
lmao, hunting Coyotes with 22 Long Rifle? Did your mom drop you on your head as a baby? What's next? You're gonna bag a deer with a 32 ACP handgun?
>>Had 1,500$ to blow
back I could've just got the real deal 7.62
>Am I fucking stupid?
That was a wasteful purchase, if you're going to get a .22lr get a normal .22lr.
22LR is underestimated. It was used extensively by urban guerrilla snipers in the Chechen Wars to devastating effect.
Although I figure you are not using it for that. Works well as a deer gun or for coyotes. For hogs the common wisdom is .308 though.

Fuck ya mudda
I think semi auto .22lrs are the most boring guns ever
if you enjoy it for what it is though more power to you
Meh it's an alright price but really you should've gone with either real 7.62 AK or a 10/22. Seems like you already knew you fucked up.
You went full retard so naturally you'll fit right in here.
