How do you prevent ticks from sticking to your skin, getting inside of your tent, etc? Clothing, chemicals, tobacco smoke? Is there any special kind of clothing that makes it harder for the tick to latch on? Are there any chemicals that are natural and safe for you, but irritate ticks? Is there anything you can light and smoke out your campground or tent to repel ticks? What methods have you personally used that work, and what do you carry with you as a precaution for after you've been bit?
I spray a lot of my gear with permethrin, it'll last 10 or so washes, so it's good for a season.
I spray mine at the beginning of spring, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and the start of hunting season. Spring and fall are worse than summer for ticks.
I've have removed hundreds of ticks from my skin, and dozens from other people's. I've used all kinds of pincers, pliers, dedicated tick removers, multitools, whatever is at hand. Don't grease 'em up, don't rub 'em or think that you can trick them to frick off. Aside from that I don't see the big issue. Keep an eye on your body, particularly wet and moist areas - you should be doing this anyway when you clean yourself (you do clean yourself, right?). Just keep an eye on the bite if it gets irritated. It's never happened to me, but I was told that if a rash forms that is larger than a large coin of whatever fake currency your nation uses, go to a doctor.
as long as the tick wasnt in place for more then 24h you should be fine
when in doubt go to the doc, childhood friend got infected and was fricked over for years, as he didnt receive proper treatment due to his hippie mother.
High socks and trouser blousers
Pants, long sleeves, brimmed hat. Wore shorts in the backyard one time this summer...not even inthewoods, had a fricking tick on my shin. Make sure you kill every tick you find, I usually crush them with my multitool.
If you remove a tick you should keep that fricker in a small recipient like those tubes they use for blood samples and secure the cap with duct tape. They're small, easy to carry and could save your life. If you get infected providing the source of infection to the doctor will save a lot of time.

Lyme disease is measured in weeks. Just enjoy your bug collecting hobby, anon.
Anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, borreliosis and 4 types of ricketsiosis. All of them carried by ticks, two of them specifically in north america, and all with similar symptoms. If you remove a tick you keep it for 7-10 days and then discard it, but if you develop symptoms they can identify the condition and treat you right away
Okay, I'm a eurogay, I've never heard of anything other than borreliosis/Lyme disease. Why would the doctor test the tick rather than just test you? It's not like its snake venom specific to a given snake species. What if you got bit by three ticks - you'd have three ticks in your little box, but you wouldn't know which one made you sick?
I'm honestly curious, because I've never heard of this before, and I've dealt with hundreds of ticks.
Btw, both of these are me, the no-homosexual eurogay. Hadn't seen
when the first post posted.
Some tests detect your body's response to a sickness, some require a certain amount of pathogens, that's why an infected person can test negative for a disease until the infection spreads or the sickness begins. You don't need to know the specific tick that provoked it, because chances are only one of them will carry it, and it will definitely show in the blood it carries. As you said chances are very low but once is enough to frick you over, and it's not like you're going out of your way by keeping it for a few days after removing it. I mean do it or don't, I'm not your mother, but it's stuff that some aren't aware of and only by having the knowledge you can decide freely. Simple as
Okay, so this is super-hypothetical for me, since I've never been to the doctor with a tick-disease. I'm not gonna go to the doctor unless the infection has actually spread, am I? So if I am at the doctor's office, and tell him that it might be from a tick, rather than have a tick-box in hand, he's gonna run the tick-related tests. Since I am sick, the test determines which kind of sickness (just as it would if you tested the tick itself), but unlike testing the tick, the test is testing the patient, thus eliminating the risk of drawing the wrong conclusion from testing a tick that carried multiple diseases, or from testing a non-offending tick that carried a separate disease. Either way, you are already under medical care, so I don't see where the "time savings" come in.
And they don't have israeli bankers running their troupes. Return to monke, check your buddies' starfish.

>Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) is a bacterial disease spread by ticks. It typically begins with a fever and headache, which is followed a few days later with the development of a rash.
>Long-term complications following recovery may include hearing loss or loss of part of an arm or leg
>Usual onset: 2 to 14 days after infection
>Duration: 2 weeks
I bet you think aids is the only std out there and make fun of people for using condoms
I'm not a homosexual (eurogay is not to be taken literally), so I've never really cared about AIDS. I actually do make fun of people using condoms, but probably not for the reason you think.
Help me in walking through the process then. You've been bitten by X number of ticks on your last trip, or your day plowing the field, or whatever. Let's assume it is not a daily threat, because otherwise you need to start labelling your ticks meticulously I guess. You have them in a sealed jar or whatever. You keep those ticks for the maximum potential onset duration of all the various diseases you can get from ticks in your neck of the woods. At some point, you develop symptoms for potential tick-borne disease Y. You go to the doctor with your symptoms and your box of ticks.
Why would the doctor not just run tests directly on you, rather than go through X number of ticks? You are the one with the disease. Theoretically, one of the ticks in the box could carry disease Z, but hasn't infected you with it, in which case the doctor is now chasing a wrong lead.
Again, I am genuinely curious.
A joint before bed keeps them away
I've heard stories of ticks getting near your butthole or under your ballsack. It's one of the things I'm terrified the most, having ticks and not ever seeing them. I found a tick on my dick once, but it was easy to see on that vast open space. What if it placed itself more intelligently?
>vast open space
Kek.
Just have your buddy perform an inspection twice daily, anon. Everyone does this.
In all seriousness though, why the hysteria about ticks? If you get sick with whatever unknown disease you can't identify, be it from a taint-tick or a scalp-tick or drinking contaminated water, or sticking your dick in that gloryhole that one time, go to the doctor.
If you are in an environment where that is not feasible or where it is very detrimental to your daily tasks, you pretty much have to do the buddy-check thing (although perhaps not twice daily, kek). It's in a lot of army manuals, although I don't think I've ever actually seen it done.
>Just have your buddy perform an inspection twice daily, anon.
I don't have friends, especially friends that would take a close look at my hairy butthole twice a day. Do they go away if you bathe? (ticks, not friends)
I don't know about bathing. I'm a shower supremacist (or poor, whichever). But they'll frick off eventually regardless, once they've had their fill. The weirdest I've seen was a tick stuck in a guy's scalp for several weeks. He had long hair and always wore a cap, so I'm guessing it got confused and couldn't leave. It was the size of a thumbnail when I got to it.
I am also a poorgay but if soaking in the bathtub were a surefire way to get rid of ticks I'd do it
I once found a dead tick attached to my ballsack. i think i have so much nicotine in me that it kills them when they try to feed. all the ticks i've ever found attached to me were dead as shit .
anyways i've just started spraying all my shit with permethrin and it seems to keep them away.
geraniol and citroidiol bro, natural and good, even put it on my puppers collar and harness after the tick party on her face last weekend.
obligatory tick jar

Can't tell if b8 or a room temp iq
whats confusing you
oohhh it's ur b8? OK well done pal I replied, here's your (you)
retvrn to monke
I used to drink heavily. After a 3 day party I was weed wacking a hillside. Felt a pinch on my calf. Looked and it was a tick biting me. Walked to my truck to grab a lighter and tweezers. Had so much shit in my system at the time it curled up and died by the time I got up the driveway
I literally don't worry about them. Have your buddy look at your butthole before you go to sleep if it bothers you
