Very similar to the American upgrade to the XM7, with features such as the integrated suppressor. Further confirms the changing philosophy on future infantry as covert elements much like special forces. This follows the same logic of infantry adopting tried concepts from sf such as red dot optics.
Thanks to aircraft, drone, satellite surveillance, conventional infantry is being picked out like fish in a barrel.
Historically, the answer to an ovewhelming aerial threat is stealth and evasion, which is not only an approch of guerrilla forces but of conventional special forces as well.

Ukraine is an anomaly. Some stuff is applicable, like the way they deal with Russian defensive belts. But the war in general is not going to be replicated for any Western nation.

its for the Bong Ranger regiment, which is SOF-lite.

Has anyone ever used one of these or has opinions on how effective it will be, they are buying them too.
>he thinks the british MOD has enough money to buy enough new rifles for one royal marine brigade, let alone all of them, let alone the entire army
the SA80 will continue to live its dreaded life for the next 1000 years
>new assault rifle >1950s design
Ok ok, jokes aside, I've heard KAC did some upgrades to the gas system, can anyone fill me in on what's improved?
They just used some old rifle's threaded gas tube design and ARfied it. It's also the only DI gas tube that'll hang with the short strokers.
OH and dwell time is officially a meme, always had been but them fudds and redditors now understand that A FUCKING GAS PORT IS KING
Assuming that it's the same as their SR-15: from what I remember, their tolerances are stupidly tight for the gas system, to the point that the gas block needs to be cryogenically treated and then press fit onto the barrel. This means that less gas leaks out, so they can use less of it for a softer shooting rifle
On top of that, their bolt uses rounded lugs, which decreases stress and improves bolt life. Reportedly, there has never been a broken KAC bolt in the wild, even past their 20k round warranty.
This is unironically the rifle that the army and marine corps should've adopted instead of ~~*Sig*~~ and HK
It's a British gun wholesaler aka the peculiar kind of usually Euro firm which buys neat equipment and resells it on the premise they're selecting the best for you out of professional experience instead of garden gnomeing you for something you could do yourself.
You know, I'm going to laugh if KAC won out because their logo tickled some Brit general more than HKs.

Thoughts on the King's Stoner 1?
Any one have a cost per rifle? The total contract award probably includes a bunch of other things and I just want to know how much a deal/fucking His Majesty's Army just got.
£9,259/rifle
But likely comes with guarentees and stuff you wont get on civilian contractors, things like enhanced support, full design spec sheets, specialistion and customisation, testing, line maintainance.
£15m for 1620 rifles, sight+aimpoint, sling, grip, mloc stuff, light and a training marker system. Basically everything in picrel.
The above is the initial part of a larger £90m order for 10,000 rifles + stuff. Its all part of Project Hunter which gives the RM and Rangers cool shit like fused thermal nvgs and the new L129A2 in 6.5mm.

Referring to the conflict in Ukraine.
Digital surveillance as well, not just signal intelligence, but even social media spying was being used to secure targets in the Middle East.

It is still to be seen whether or not the XM7 is rolled out to replace the M4 completely or just for units in combat roles. Both are similar rifles.
Marines too, did you not read the image?

Are you disabled?
Not all marines. Just certain units like boarding parties and mountain cadre.
Who I believe were already using some kind of ar15 type thing.
It is initially going to 'vanguard strike companies' who are a new royal marine diet SF style unit & the army ranger battalions.
Initial order is 10,000.

Probably just their old 'optimal' length gas system.
They just used some old rifle's threaded gas tube design and ARfied it. It's also the only DI gas tube that'll hang with the short strokers.

It's a good, solid AR15.
Quick rundown on Edgar Brothers?

I mean you could do it yourself, or they could do it for you, since it's their job.

Seems like a massive improvement over the L85.
