      Honestly I’ve thought about putting makeup on my very masculine face and playing video games in twitch larping as a chud. There’s nothing feminin about me and hopefully my lack of effort to be feminine in any way would translate to a few people who would realize I was mocking them. Oh and grifting off of them.

      Trust me, it's not worth looking at.

    Before reading the replies here: “wow I like looking at tits but that chick has broad shoulders and large arms. She’s built like a linebacker.”

    After reading the replies: “Ahhh, ok. Makes sense now.”

    Don't watch american youtubers, they rarely know shit. Best thing you can do is apply for an apprenticeship or school at EU.

    Very fun. Had a forge set up, left it at my old place after Hurricane Ida, went back for it after I bought a new house annnd my anvil and propane bottle were stolen so I never got back to it. Really should, though. It's super therapeutic to just beat the metal.

    Kinda fun, lots of work though. I started welding because of blacksmithing and eventually went to welding school and built my own forging press out of scrap. Now I'm I school for CNC machining and I'm wanting to make folding knives but I need a mill.

    Here's a high carbon/mild steel San-Mai butchers blade waiting for a handle.

      any tips for someone getting started? i've bought a propane forge kit that i need to weld together then i can start having a go. will probably start with stock removal.

        Honestly, I still mostly only do stock removal. I would forge things more to shape but I simply don't have the free time to do anything anymore. The best advice I can give you is;

        1) make a couple super basic knives using hand files; it's very useful for gaging bevels and proportions and creeping up on the finished blade. I use a 2 hp 2x72" belt grinder with 36-grit belts for my roughing grinds and it takes only a tiny mistake holding the knife to seriously fuck up a blade.

        2) buy a long piece of 1/4" or 3/16" thick mild steel bar stock from a hardware store and just practice grinding bevels over and over. I wasted plenty of money buying several feet of expensive high carbon steel before I could even properly freehand grind my bevels.

        3) for your first real knife buy some decent 1080 from a knife steel supplier (I use New Jersey Steel Baron mostly) and real quench oil. Half assing the heat treat after spending all the effort to make the knife is foolish.

        4) don't grind the blade too thin, especially prior to heat treating. Warping and decarburization will fuck up a blade just as badly as a crack. You can always grind it thinner later, but you can't put metal back onto it.
