God I love rotating barrels. Shame the rest of it looks like ass

i didn't actually notice it was a rotating barrel, though it looks like only the chamber rotates, the barrel stays fixed.

        Anonymous

It's a ported barrel inside a sleeve. The sleeve acts like a gas tube, directing gases from the barrel back and unlocking the chamber, which then uses the delayed recoil to cam the barrel. It's pretty cool from an engineering standing.

i wonder WHY tho, from footage it seems like it kicks about as hard as any other 5.7. rotating barrels only help with slow-moving rounds like .45

                FN alone has SS197, SS198, SS195, SS190.
                Fiocchi has 35gr, 40gr, 62gr subsonic loads
Speer has their 40gr gold dot
Federal has their TMJ 40gr plinking stuff

I'd rather have one in 9mm. Been tempted to get my PX4 storm cut for an optic but it is as expensive as just buying another gun.

              Anonymous

I like how they handled the rotating barrel on this a lot more than the PX4. A suppressor doesn't make a ton of sense for a cartridge like 5.7, but if it were adapted to 9mm, it would make a bit more sense to actually have that capability.

Because PSA makes Tyrone-Black person-tier guns that are almost pawnshop level of Saturday night special quality.

          Anonymous

No. That's a pretty excessive exaggeration.
PSA is decent at best average at worst.
You make it sound like they are 1990s Tarus tier or Jenkins tier. Which is stupid because you are either being dishonest or you are just inexperienced.

            Anonymous

Not, he's wrong, but I still wouldn't buy the PSA 5.7 unless I was collecting 5.7 guns because the M&P is only a hundred bucks more and by every review I've seen, it's the best on the market or tied with the Ruger.

I am exaggerating although PSA firearms are more questionable than even a Kek-tec product. I actually was considering either the Ruger 57 or the M&P version, probably will go with the Ruger.

PSA has shit the bed a lot with products in their first run. They're taking up the Sig business strategy of open beta testing products at full price. They're cheap as shit though, so it's not like it's worth complaining about.

PSA Rock, IGNORING price, is objectively the best 5.7 handgun, with one single reason trumping every other: no thumb safety. Nevermind a beefier barrel than the rest, nevermind being the best striker trigger on the planet, nevermind clean lines and only two buttons on the side of the frame, nevermind flush-fit magazines bring higher capacity but the same size AND less than half the price of any other, nevermind fitting most glonk pattern holsters, nevermind being objectively safer than Ruger, nevermind easiest takedown, glawk pattern sights, more customizable than any other offerings. Yes it's not perfect, it struggles with suppressors and dots mounted, but it IS still the best while simultaneously being the cheapest. All this coming from an FN fanboy no less. S&W is unique, I'll give it that, I like all their guns but they still can't beat the Rock.

no, it's got a frick-ugly panel there instead because like most if their guns the manual safety's optional, another reason I like them. but please, stay hung up on the one thing I fricked up and continue ignoring the other twenty reasons PSA is based

I bet that high pressure and low grain weight makes 5.7 shoot like .22lr with a comp. You can probably laser a silhouette at 25 yards no problem with a compensated 5.7.

what is the point of a 5.7 handgun? the caliber seems so useless outside of varmint control, even then if .22 can't solve your problem, 5.56 will do you alot better for half the cost.

      Anonymous

It's a handgun for starters. Second, 5.7 has basically no recoil so that's a nice perk. And while it doesn't do as much damage as .45, it can punch through vests. In the videos that Paul did about 5.7 handguns, he mentions that it would make a sound choice as a gun for someone who works in security protecting valuable shit because you are more likely than not (as his thinking goes) to run up against someone wearing body armor. 5.7 will defeat the armor, whereas 9mm and .45 won't.

That's a very niche thing, but it also makes it a reasonable duty weapon for people who do that sort of work.
