this combined with some new kind 30.06 ammunition would have been viable as the NGSW.

Almost as if the military would rather lose ~100fps than re arm their entire force with new rifles/magazines designed for some fudd long action round

The purpose of the NGSW was to pierce armor, correct? If that was the case, the. they should have went with something like .22-250. It can already pierce armor with hunting projectiles, so AP projectiles would absolutely work.

Why would they switch to .270 fudd when all of NATO arms are standardized around 7.62x51?

they are switching to 6.8x51, or at least signaled their desire to and placed orders for rifles

You’re obviously too dumb to pick up on what I’m trying to say. They still feed from the same 7.62 magazines, machine guns could feed from the same belts. Not too mention you could easily convert other 7.62 rifles to shoot it as long as you’re not using the super spicy rounds.

How does that make sense? Most of the US population is urban or suburban. Why the frick would they adopt a 12-13lbs battle rifle to go door kicking through cities and suburbs?

          Anonymous

          >reee 13lbs is too heavy
do some push-ups. the weight is irrelevant anyway. a lot of Americans are into body armor and plenty of them go for level IV ceramic plates. The new round is meant to defeat this armor. Throw in the new optic and even Agu and Ajamu and his imported Nigerian replacements for disloyal US servicemen can outshoot bubba and his boys with the push of a button.
          >why do the managers masquerading as leaders, who hate all of us, want to go door to door in suburban and rural America to force compliance and get rid of dissidents. I omit the cities because the cities are safe. They’re under control and are no threat to those in power.
          >but muh mostly peaceful riots
collateral damage. the people effected are still going to vote for the same people that enabled the rioters in the first place. one more in person vote is one less ballot the counters have to cook up during their 3am democracy fortification

            >a lot of Americans are into body armor and plenty of them go for level IV ceramic plates
not that many, and we already have millions of rounds of M993 and M995 that will go through lvl 4 plates anyway.

And as we already know, 6.8x51 ball rounds wont be going through lvl 4 plates anyway, so you'd need the $22/shot "SP" special purpose 6.8x51 round which is even more expensive than M993 or M995, which again, the military already has, and can shoot from the M4, M249, M240b, and various DMRs and will go through lvl 4 plates just fine.

Your argument makes no logical sense.

They currently only make repros of the A2 model, but have done limited edition runs of WWI-era BAR's which cost a pretty penny.
The first few thousand they built were from mostly un-used surplus parts.
But now they are made from all new-production parts.
It's probably one of the nicest WWII repros I've come across.

Who is this appealing to that would spend $6500 on it? For people who like modern guns you can get something amazing for $6500 that is incredibly gucci and blows away the HCAR. For people who like older guns this looks nothing like the gun it was based on. It's not a replica so there is no value for the WW2 enthusiast.

So who is left to spend $6500 on a gun that seemingly has no niche appeal? People who like WW2 guns want them to look like WW2 guns. People who like modern guns want min/maxed features which this gun does not have.

Explain how the $6500 HCAR is fun then. Why is it more fun than any other firearm activity you can do with $6500? For example I'd have more fun using that money to deck out an MP5 with a binary trigger and a ton of ammo to go to down with. I could elaborate on why most people would have more fun shooting that than the HCAR. What appeal do you feel the HCAR has? Who is it appealing to and why?

it does it. it shoots .30-06 AP. This thing came out like a decade ago when IV armor wasn't as good and also wasn't as wide spread.

.30-06 was great for killing Japs but the ammo is heavy. Mor weight = less boom. Besides, the zipperheads showed us it was too beaucoup and unnecessary when everybody has select fire. It is still good for sniping but there is a lot of competition there.
