There's been a lot of talk about VDV, Wagner, and Chechen barrier troops in Ukraine. But what about Spetznaz? Are they in Ukraine? What have they been up to?

They did a great job getting captured or killed in the first few days.
Besides this they were deployed north of Lyman. Supposedly the unit is mostly gone now. Otherwise I think I saw some mention of them being active around Davidiv Bryd like moth ago(?).
>Lyman
Ok so they're pretty much toast. Do ukies treat spetsnaz pows different than other russkies? do they even take them as pows?
No idea. Ukies said that like dozen of them got wrecked there but afaik they posted no proof whatsoever. No VAL no patch no nothing. We just don't know.
Remember those jeeps inside Kharkiv during the first few days? Those were Spetsnaz, they were ambushed by a mix of police and TDF units who forced them to retreat into a nearby school house, they got trapped inside the building as it set alight and died.
24th Separate Guards were used during the Russian attacks on Lyman and got memed on, 3rd Guards were deployed on the defense and met the same fate.
It may just be bullshit but some of the intercepted Russian communications have indicated that some of the conscripts are getting like a week of training and being told they're being integrated into a Spetznaz unit. Seems like they've been pretty well decimated and are just looking for warm bodies to fill ranks so they can try to use whatever reputation they may have left to possibly discourage the Ukrainians from attacking certain points.
Some guy in a interview talked about a spetsnaz unit getting destroyed by an artillery barrage in moschtschun in march. But I couldn't find any evidence which support his claims
Were they dropped unsupported behind ukie lines like the VDV were, or were they used differently?
I don't think they did any suicide raids like VehDehVeh. Ukies generally seem to acknowledge they are tough enemy.
Reports and pictures of GRU getting btfp by volunteer legions. The GRU speznaz is hardly a Special Force, closer to US Army rangers than NAVY seals (but shittier due to Russian military doctorines ofc).
They were used a lot in More demanding operations, but got beaten up bad. They were getting their shit pushed in the same time as VDV, but VDV getting annihilated pretty much over shadowed their failure. We propably stopped hearing about them because lots of them are dead and not fighting worthy, like the VDV and the rest of the Russian military. Russia really doesn't have the time, gear or logistics to shuffle the remnants of these guys around to get them were they would be most useful. They're propably stuck to their current positions and working as standard infantry next to mobiliniks and others.
>closer to US army rangers than NAVY seals
But anon Navy SEALs do moronic shit like Operation Red Wings while the 75th is still respected as a premier force.
To be fair, I think he meant more direct assault force vs small team recon/covert stuff. Which the SEALs are admittedly better at being that they work in smaller teams, have more varied options for infil, and train for small hit and runs. Where as Rangers are your premier platoon size and larger direct action raid force.
What are you trying to argue with? He said that they operate similar to the rangers than the seals. Let me remind you that this site is for 18 and above.
>they operate similar to the rangers than the seals
The fact that they aren't is precisely why we're having this discussion.
>those crispy vals
Kinda sad tbh
Just drop a can on a .300 blk upper and call it a day.
>melted AS VAL
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>They did a great job getting captured or killed in the first few days
In the last few days too.
I don't know where or how but yesterday a Russian Spetsnaz Col was listed as cargo 200.
Fyodor Zakharovich Babayev
41st Separate Spetsnaz Brigade, 8th Directorate, GRU/GU
Depends on which unit. "Spetznaz" includes a lot of non-MOD dudes.
gone, the worlds sharpest knife will still break if you use it as a prybar instead.
Honestly it’s a shame how Russia just completely wasted their best in the first few days of the war.
I think they never had the best to begin with, it was all bullshit the whole time.

Putin may have Spec Ops but he has ZERO idea how to use them PROPERLY.
Spec Ops are NEVER meant to be used as regular infantry.
common issue in most countries, but hes in a conventional war there are so many more uses for them right now rather than
>year 10-15 of GWOT
>send some company of us SF to just be a forward guard tower and call it a day.
I remember a bunch of them got wacked by a drone on their way to Snake Island. Haven't heard much about them since.
