The rating (according to MIL-STD-662F) includes backface deformation tests.
Try again.
Neck is generally fine. Problematic is back face deformation. They either not rated for deformation or rated with 25.4 mm deformation standards for helmets.
But this 25.4 mm standard has no any scientific basis whatsoever ,
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK224905/ >In addition to the definition of BFD, the DOT&E protocol specifies BFD thresholds at 25.4 mm for front and back shots and 16 mm for side and crown shots. These appear to be based on historical helmet testing precedent and are not connected to the potential for brain injury. The analysis, however, appears to be based on the presumption that the larger the BFD, the greater the likelihood of serious head injury. >Finding 5-4. The choice of the helmet BFD threshold values—25.4 mm for front and back shots and 16 mm for side and crown shots—does not have a scientific basis. In contrast, the body armor BFD limit was derived from scientific studies.
At rifle speeds its bullshit and skull would be cracked for sure.
P.S. Also should be pointed out that the body armor BFD limit was derived from scientific studies BUT its was for pistol rounds at pistol velocities. . Apparently at rifle velocities trauma is much harder for the same BFD.

Checked.
But we'll never know, because companies like Highcom make a point of never publishing their BFD data against rifle threats, and there's not enough data on how BFD correlates to trauma anyway.
Odds are that if that helmet catches a 7.62x51mm round, you're dead or you'll wish you were dead. So "rounds defeated: 7.62x51mm" is a bullshit, unethical statement.

also not every hit is going to be a worst case scenario, whereas most testing is done worst case scenario, that being a perpendicular angle at close distance. if the bullet is coming from a few hundred meters out, or is slowed a bit by foliage, or is a glancing blow that would have otherwise taken off the top of your skull, i'd much rather have a stronger helmet than a weaker one

This. Assuming its not retard heavy like some of the russian stuff, i like the idea of it.
The true test will be when the guntubers get their hands on it.
If we were being honest, no blow to the head is safe, it’s a delicate instrument.
It’s better to just be honest about it and give it the old college try.
Okay cool, what was the deformation like on the other side? Because it not being penetrated is great and all, but that doesn't matter if the bullet pushes the helmet - and my skull - in like a watermelon
Barely even offers protection. Why do tactitards think the ears don't need coverage? This is an old design from when grandpas were wearing ear muffs instead of electric plugs.
Interesting design. No ballistic or frag protection on top and only rifle rated at the front, but if you're expecting to just patrol against militants armed with small arms and no mortars or artillery then it could be a good trade.
What I'm interested in is these dong domes for Sikhs.
They should have just went for the Pre-Colonial Sikh helmet design and allowed them to wrap their turbans around it like how they used to, maybe with a camo-green colour. But with most things, the Indian Government is retarded and chooses the worst option.
Absolute cringe. > Atrocious BFD vs. rifle rounds ensures skull fracture > Heavy and thick as shit. > Won't stop plain vanilla M855 or 7N6, the last-gen standard-issue rifle threats. > Literally 10x more expensive than a surplus ECH, which is otherwise very similar to this turd.
Ballistic helmets were never designed to be bulletproof anon. They’re designed to deflect shrapnel which they don’t do a very good job of that. They can take a high powered round but that’s if you’re lucky enough not to take the round to the face. It’s a false sense of security to think these helmets are going to protect you from bullets.
So much shenanigans about helmets not being bulletproof.
I literally know three different dudes who have taken a shot to the dome and survived because of their ach.
Two of them were glancing blows, but still would have killed them if not for helmet. The last was a miracle direct hit, but got caught in a layer of Kevlar and traveled around the top of helmet and ejected out the back.
Two of them were knocked unconscious. Third guy had to get stitches because the Kevlar shearing cut his head. The guy that wasn't knocked unconscious said he thought it was shrapnel or something hitting his helmet and didn't realize until others pointed it out, following day his neck was sore as shit. All reported sore neck, headaches, basic concussion symptoms. I didn't know any of them before incident so can't comment on change in long term mental status.
All of these were 7.62x39- likely shit ammo quality and from range.
The point being, if I'm in a firefight I have enough anecdotal evidence that I'm wearing literally anything that increases my chances of living, and the ach has a great track record.
>Enjoy your fused neck vertebrae
youd rather be dead?
>dead or life of neck pain and lack of sleep
>you don't need a helmet if you don't have a brain
>t post
>I'd rather have my brains blown out than a minor injury
The absolute state of the anti armor crowd is astounding
go ahead and post your plates homosexual
strangest of copes

thank you anon, good reads
>skull cracked
if it prevents a bullet from turning your brain to paste it’s a win isn’t it?
>depressed skull fracture
>a win
its either skull fracture or 10lb helmet
Better than a perforating head injury where you're entire brain is ejected from your skull

The helmet in OP will literally turn your brain into mush, so I'm not so sure.

just keep the chin strap unstrapped and it'll fly right out of your head, problem solved

the indian patka helmet is rated for x39 right out of the box

Don't tell me these towelheads insist on keeping their fucking headscarfs on under their helmet
They do, because Sikhs are fucking stupid.

I make and test homemade armor. Mostly 3a, trying to reach solid 3. The helmet I made for a pig stopped the bullet, buy Charlotte didn't make it.
