Because of the NFA. It's a gun with 80k psi chamber pressure and a 13" barrel. There is no hearing protection in existence that can protect you from that without a suppressor. You'd have to repeal the NFA for this gun to be useful to anyone.

You underestimate people's obsession with having whatever the military has no matter how little sense it makes in a civilian use case.
But you're going to have permanent hearing loss left and right. People are going to quickly figure out that this gun is literally a health hazard.
maybe this will finally be enough for congress to agree to get rid of the silencer ban
You need to sneak up behind congressman and fire a blank right in their ear.
No, a suppressed blank. Then ask if they heard that. That or just shoot them normally with a suppressor, either way it shows them that they're not silent
No, it will just make it way easier to get rifles banned once a mass shooting with one occurs. The increased amount of gore is something the public is not ready for.
Whatre you a fricking pussy? A standard carbine is 50k and people including myself can fire off without protection or perm loss of hearing
Civilians are going to be shooting the all brass low pressure training ammo and LARPing that they can defeat plates at 300m with it.
Also
will happen for sure.
Sell it with an 18-24" barrel. Short barrels are gay anyway. Also your country should stop regulating suppressors so much.
I'm pretty sure the much touted 80k PSI is meant to be the upper limit of what it can handle though? And I'm pretty sure ateast according to what I've seen that civilian 6.8 won't be the same as the one used by the US military.
Nah. That’s what the .277 Fury round is loaded at. The training rounds are 55k PSI.
They're not selling 80k PSI rounds though.
As it is now it's pretty similar to 6.5CM or .308/7.62
Yeah, I'll take a lighter, better, much longer lasting, and probably more reliable AR with a 20" barrel in 6.5 sneedmore over that thing. Is the 13" barrel worth the headaches of that cartridge, which we will never get in any quantity on the consumer market anyway? Not likely. Just have two guns. It never works out when the military tries to make one gun be every role.
If spicy 6mm ammo is so good how come we didn't do it 60 years ago
Because brass fails around 65-70k PSI
they only get the 80k PSI using a steel case head.
I personally preferred the polymer-cased stuff.
why dont they just make the whole case out of steel then? why use brass for the top part? doesnt it make a weak point in the case where the 2 are connected together? also wont brass and steel corrode each other if left in contact for long periods of time
Better seal and easier extraction, it's still fricking moronic and if you are going to go for expensive unconventional ammo at least to something interesting like telescoped or RDX.
6.5x55 has been around well over 100 years, and then there is based 7x57.
Lower pressure rounds and longer barrels. There, I fixed the issue. People who still want to larp as operators or just collect a military grade rifle will still buy it with the suppressor and auto capability.
is this shit gonna make my 6.5 grendel guns obsolete and hard to get bullets for
.264" bullets are not going to be hard to find.
The only reason Sig wouldn't make civilian versions in a bunch of common calibers is if the feds explicitly prohibited it as part of the program requirements. I'd also 100% expect 16" and 20" barrel versions on the market. I wager that thing could be an absolutely amazing deer/elk/moose/bear slayer too.
