The vast majority of the US population lives in a forested climate, like the entire East or the west coast of Washington/Oregon. So why is FDE seemingly ten times more popular than green shades? It doesn't make sense. If you're in the desert, camo is probably far less important anyway.

So? Are you functionally illiterate to go along with your true Appalachian pride? Or do you just not know what is being talked about?

The forests on the east coast are not as old as the ones on the west coast. That is because people have cut them down. Nobody cares how old the hills you call mountains are.

Correct. They're significantly older on average. How many trees do you Black folk even have that are more than a couple years old outside of the now tiny number of redwoods? They all burn down every year. The West Coast has practically no old growth forests left.

This is a pretty typical scene for the East Coast. Although you will find a lot more browns in pine heavy forests or really old growth forests.

I will say, most FDE is fine but in my experience, OD is better in my area of the Appalachians. FDE is also a good base color if you're doing your own firearm camo.

  2. 3 weeks ago

Because we mostly stay on the ground, where the brown stuff is, instead of the tree tops, where the green stuff is.

    >So why is FDE seemingly ten times more popular than green shades?
In the post-2012 world, most gun buyers only buy guns because advertisers told them to do so. When advertising, the appeal to authority is a big deal, so morons buy the desert tan/FDE gun that a Ranger/SEAL/GWOT vet told them to buy. It doesn't even have to be a real soldier, actually, any tattooed bearded man advertising a product will get mindless losers in to buy it. This is why tons of people today own both an AR15 and a Glock.

People own ARs and Glocks bc they’re the best firearms for civilians to own.

        The projection's palpable.

People buy these because the ammo is common and there's a lot of aftermarket parts available.

I mean, at least all the guns in the pic aren't solid FDE which is ugly as hell. FDE looks better when you combine it with black imo.

This tbh. I'm 100% convinced that the global trend of skeletonized AR variants, multicam, FDE, and the highcut tacticool "operator" aesthetic is mainly due to the overglorfication of US special forces. Everyone just see's the cool kid rocking with it so they're jumping onto the bandwagon and going along with it as well.

It has nothing to do with practicality and everything to do with what people saw on TV and in video games when they were kids. The cool dudes on TV from GWOT, Iraq, etc, had FDE so that's what they want too.

because it looks good. 99.9% of gun owners will never need actual camouflage. that's why they also make wildly colored magazines. because some people think it looks cool.

FDE is a great base color if you want to rattle can up some camo. For most people it's not actually about blending in though, it's about looking cool. Most people are never ever going to need to camouflage themselves from anything beyond Bambi and his woodland friends.
