nta but the M14 was hot garbage when it was adopted while the SCAR 17 is almost the perfect battle rifle and it came out decades later. it would be perfect if it didn't kill optics like it does so the XCR might actually be better

                >muh optics
Every .308 is hard on optics this is not exclusive to the SCAR it just happened to come along when optics were becoming prevalent and still needed to work out issues and modern optics have mostly negated this issue.
That said the M14 was never bad, it was always superior to anything that came out of Europe with the only main downside being that it was expensive, like really expensive to the point no one adopted it unless they could get them for basically free. But everyone who did adopt them has stuck with them due to them being one of if not the best .308 of the time and even today it still holds up as a great rifle.

                >That said the M14 was never bad, it was always superior to anything that came out of Europe with the only main downside being that it was expensive
The M14 was hot fucking garbage. The gas system was nearly impossible to manufacture to spec in a mass manufacturing setting, there were congressional hearings about receivers cracking, and in investigations most service M14s pulled from an armory had some kind of flaw.
The whole reason the M16 was adopted was because the US was planning to increase troop presence in Vietnam and McNamara & Co realized they couldn't manufacture the M14 fast enough to meet the demand.
                >today it still holds up as a great rifle
Through survivorship bias or modern manufactured M1As (with the benefit of not having to fulfill an order of hundreds of thousands ASAP).
A well made M14 is a good rifle.
It couldn't be well made in 60s-70s tech at the rates a military rifle could be produced.

                >it was always superior to anything that came out of Europe
the Ordinance corps rigged the testing in its favor and the FAL still tied it. The AR-10 was actually superior in every way, but it was sabotaged worse than the AR-15 was, plus Armalite was retarded and ignored Stoner about not using a composite barrel. The G3 didn't even exist at the time but pretty much everybody adopted it over the FAL once it did which shows that it's at least equal to if not superior to the M14.
even John C. Garand thought the M14 was an abomination
                >muh optics... every .308 is hard on optics
AR-10s and 417s don't kill quality optics. the SCAR can and does

                >muh sabotage
Delusions cooked up by a madman, there is absolutely 0 evidence of the AR10 being "sabotaged" just that they sent either the wrong rifle or a bad rifle because of the composite barrel. As far as it doing better that is absolutely laughable, the AR10 was far from a good rifle and even today still has issues in the 60's there was so many issues with the rifle if it miraculously passed the tests it would have been considered one of the worst service rifles in the world.

As far as the FAL was concerned it did do as well as the M14 in testing with little to no difference in the mechanics and economics of the rifles and the M14 won out because of troop familiarity and bias for an American design.

                >muh sabotage... no evidence
so you're saying that the ordinance corps didn't feed the AR-10 a steady diet of proof loads? and that prior to that, it wasn't being praised for being lightweight, accurate, and reliable? I already addressed the wrong barrel issue. Armalite didn't listen to Stoner about using an all steel barrel. It ended up winning a few contracts in other nations despite the higher cost but an arms embargo on Portugal effectively killed it until the 90s when Stoner and KAC resurrected it
or are you saying that the ordinance corps never sabotaged the M16?

This is the kind of thinking that makes me think that officers are genuinely drooling retards instead of just regular stupid like i know they are.
Because even if you assume the average grunt is too stupid to learn to load a different magazine the average rifle will stay in service much longer than the average grunt making that irrelevant in the long run.
(You also expect them to be able to drive any brand of car but having the safety in a slightly different position is apparently impossible to adapt to.)

Griffin armament made a similar design recently, but idk if it’s been tested in comparison. Otter creak labs also recreated the aem5 and I believe it’s supposed to perform better. The original design basically has the most internal volume which is hard to beat without increasing size on already large can.

Would just get the otter creek one instead for the weight. But if you're getting Ti might as well buy thunderbeast

AB raptor 8 with reflex is quieter I think . But that’s even funnier because it uses a 130 year old maxim baffle design

Is it true that the silencer on the Mk12 significantly tightens the MOA? I'd guess that it would be reducing the barrel harmonics and giving the projectile some free bore boost.

There are. There was also a licensed dealer that was about to make a video reviewing the "oil filters" etc. Can't recall who it was tho

    >Why do modern engineers suck dick?
Because if you actually know anything about engineers you'll know that they religiously follow this maxim that says "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
