If the Su-75 is their attempt to make the X-32 I assume the MiG-41 will just be a YF-12 in Russian colors. That is what I am expecting at least. Unless they try to copy the XB-70 this time, which would be kinda based ngl

The US is barely able to field that stuff on ships, much less aircraft.

That flight regime requires purpose-designed engines and airframes, among other design challenges. That isn’t a bullet point on the list of requirements, that’s an end-goal design.

You can get away with Mach 2 with composite airframes but Mach 3+ isn’t gonna happen. It might be stealthy but it won’t be immune to friction.

I am the head of aeronautic development in Ghana aerospace. Next year we will start testing our new trippel eaglehawk mega fighter. It will be able to cruise at mach 10 and reach Uranus before needing a refuel. Internal weapon bay will be able to hold 20 tons worth of missiles. It will have an active camo system that will turn it invisible to both the naked eye and all radars.

Western hypersonics are true manuverable air-breathing scramjets, hence why the Americans, British and French are taking so long with their legion of projects.
Eastern hypersonics, if not just straight out "trust me dude", are nowhere near Western projects, not only that but Russian Kinzhal is a copy of a half a century old US missile.

I've mostly gotten over it but I'll admit it does still irritate my weapon autism a bit that particular piece of propaganda worked so well. So much media ink spilled about ZE HYPERSONIC GAP and moron turdies spamming it, when there is fricking nothing impressive about just making a conventional rocket go hypersonic. Anything orbital or ballistic does. Stick a glider on the top and now you have an HGV. Whoo, incredible 1970s tech achievement (though modern tech certainly makes guidance much much cheaper, easier and more compact).

The challenge is doing it fully air breathing, which has proven very very difficult but would yield enormously more range and maneuvering capability since it frees them from the rocket equation. Air launching a bigger regular rocket though and having it go Mach 5 or faster isn't anything amazing. We literally did that for a regular air to air missile even in 1977 in the form of the AIM-54C. It's not very valuable though vs the cost if you have a decent airforce. You can see which countries have pursued it seriously and compare that to their AFs lol.

          >Yeah, even state officials fell for it.

But of course an ever present risk in pretending to be moronic is attracting actual morons who aren't in on the joke.

US military was definitely on it.
They love to get people scared to secure funding, it is a tried and tested tactic.
But yeah, they created a lot of propaganda wins for Russians by doing so.
            >Yep, honestly it's kind of sad so many people don't realize how genuinely fricking crazy stuff like advanced turbines are and the tech that goes into even a single blade.

            Honestly, people just don't care.
They see the Cobra Maneuver™ or hear "3D vectoring" from across the fence and then look to theirs and see generals b***hing how they are under equiped against the boogeyman of the decade and just draw conclusions from that.
I doubt that 99% of people care about facts when they read headlines, they just mold it to fit their worldviews and move on.

Making planes, especially System-of-System planes, like the NGAD, go really fast is stupid and it makes it less effective.
      Also, no lasers.

        Anonymous

        >Also, no lasers.
I'd honestly be surprised if we don't see lasers at some point, potentially even at launch. NGAD will definitely have the power budget. Missile seeker systems are pretty sensitive, and they don't have a ton of delta-v vs a fast jet. There's no need for something powerful to actually shoot it down like on the ground, because a dumb straight line boost won't do shit vs a maneuvering fighter. A laser powerful enough to burn out optics and electronics is feasible in that power envelope and gudenuf. And laser tech is advancing pretty fast at this point.

If nothing else I think NGAD, like new naval ship designs, will have been designed with internal points and power systems in mind for future expansion even if the tech isn't ready day 1.

          Anonymous

          Maybe.
The French HELMA-P laser works on 2kWs (and can melt a drone in 2.5seconds) and the F123 creates 1.7mWs, a typical Li-Ion battery is 200kg/kWh, so lets say they get a premium powerpack that nets 125kg/kWh and is 500kg heavy, they would get a complete laser solution for a fraction of the system weight, would have 2 ready discharges and it would charge in few seconds(depending on how much power you can pump into it), which is more than enough for self-defense IMO.
So I guess I just changed my mind.

    I just discovered this site:
    https://defencehub.live/
In terms of content it's just another /k/-tier military-themed smoothbrain mudslinging forum, but the fun thing is that people post nationality and where they live.

It just gives so much context to these discussions when you can see that the NATO warhawk is Indonesian and the Russia fanboy is a Russian living in the US.

    >MiG
It's dead, Jim. There is only Sugoi corporation, that uses MiG name like a mask. And we know how good they are at making new planes

Yeah I bet it can fly up it’s own ass and do your taxes for you too.

It’s another day, another Slav or chink wonder waffle. I’ll believe it when I see it.
