The FN 510...Say Something Nice About It

FN just released their new pistol chambered in 10mm. Basically just a 509 scaled up to 10mm. I'm liking the trend of seeing more and more 10mm pistols being made.

I am annoyed that it's a re-skinned compact they pretended was a new model and claimed 1,000,000 rounds of testing.
The fact is it wasn't a new model at all and the parts are even interchangeable. This is the real reason it has a recessed guide rod which they acted like it was a new and exciting feature. No, it's just an older compact model in a longer slide body. You can even take the slides and switch them between the 2 and they'll fit and function just fine. It is a new frame body and longer slide.

That said, the grip is comfortable and well thought out. The texturing choices are good. The gun feels good to shoot. It also looks good. So there's something nice. Personally, I did not get the best groups with it and that is why I sold mine.

That texture devours undershirts and thinner field shirts though.

It's not that bad. Try the CZ p10 if you want to quickly destroy a shirt.

      >Wait I don't have any in 10mm
It's a niche for camping/backpacking where there are potentially dangerous animals. Do you that?
If so do you have a magnum revolver already?
Use these 2 questions to guide you.

FN Striker fired triggers are fricking horrible. For over $600 they're an embarrassment

FN p90 trigger is the worst trigger I've ever felt other than maybe a Ruger LCP or Nagant Revolver. FN also puts language in their warranty that requires owners to send their guns in for preventative maintenance in order to not void warranty. However, I think they may have gotten enough hate that it was removed. When it was there I called them and asked if they really meant what it said. The woman that answered the following which I am quoting as accurately as I can remember:
      >Well, some people buy SCAR's and leave them in the safe for a couple of years and the oil thickens and gums it up. We can't be responsible for that.
Huh? I have all the respect in the world for FN because they did work with John Browning, they do have military pedigree and they make some cool stuff but occasionally stuff like this or

2023 is the year of 10mm. I been saying that.

I knew it last year when both Girsan and Tisas came out with 1911s in 10mm. You know that would slowly create a buying frenzy from newcomers trying their first.
And of course FN is always watching them.

Tisas' Hi-Power Mark-II (BR9) was brought to the US in 2018. Then Girsan released their Hi-Power Mark-II (P35) in 2021, while Springfield Armory partnered with Tisas to make the frames for their "SA-35" around the same time.
Then all of a sudden FN brings back their "High Power" in January 2022 but it's not even a real HP.

A decade later and $300 more expensive than the Rock Island doublestack 10 mm 1911. Frick off.

Nothing. Based on FN youtube reviews I think their average customer doesn't actually shoot.

You guys need to see the ad for the 545.

I hate FN and this makes me love them. Magnitudes better than the stock rock music and the guy going “always the Victor, never the victim”

Oh God, you weren't kidding. I just watched the 510 video after and that 545 ad is fricking Shakespear in comparison. Fricking performative masculinity bullshit everywhere. Might as well be a god damn Ford commercial.
