The first hungarian lynx variant was showcased a few days ago
Things not obvious from the pictue: it has strikeshield and 2+2 spike launchers in both side of the tower
Also in the official press release they mention rheinmetalls anti air ahead projectiles for the autocanonn
You will never be a good IFV like the K21
If it isn't getting 50mm gun and CCMS-H, it isn't good.
What are the handles on the side armor for?
those are openings for sensors and launchers of StrikeShield APS
interdasting
thanks
The slits at the top are the Strikeshield APS, the handles at the bottom are to access the storage space I think.
Looks neat. Too bad Hungarians suck Putin's dick
Show me an actual action that he did to help putler besides rhetoric
>rheinmetalls anti air ahead projectiles for the autocanonn
Now you have my attention.
Buys russian oil and stuff.
>Now you have my attention.
Looks very cool, but I wonder how the detection would be done, you'd need quite a lot of loud radars
>Buys russian oil and stuff.
The other option is shutting down like half of the economy, which is never going to happen
How the frick is that even relevant?
AHEAD can be also used for ground operations with a rangefinder. enjoy engulfing battlefields with tungsten shrapnel. during early tests it was shown that with a minimum amount of rounds, you were able to pretty much able to shotgun the whole front of a tank turret damaging or even destroying most of the optics
That's cool as frick
its got a lot of potential. its rated for CIWS for under 1000m and the max combat range for the 35mm is 4500m. and it can dumbfire/slug the ahead too
redback is generic as frick and has no soul.
>Buys russian oil
We're landlocked and cannot replace Russian oil in any realistic timeframe. Same as Czechs and maybe Slovaks as well. Bulgarians also asked for exemption since their refineries can only process Russian oil.
>Tried to block and watered down certain EU sanctions
Nope.
>Blocking NATO expansion.
Didn't happen.
>Blocking arms aid to Ukraine through Hungary.
Through the land borders yes, but that's a nothingburger. Airspace and air bases have been in use since day one. But yes, I do think that we should have supplied arms to the Ukies.
Orban is a crook and a massive homosexual but shit got really overblown with people screaming for months that Hungary wants/wanted to invade Ukraine alongside Russia and partition them so glorious Transcarpathia can become Hungarian soil once again.
>Hungary wants/wanted to invade Ukraine alongside Russia and partition them so glorious Transcarpathia can become Hungarian soil once again
Must be the same people who think a german/russian joint invasion of poland will happen any day now.
>Airspace and air bases have been in use since day one.
No they have not. All the air shipments had to go around Hungary
>Didn't happen.
Voted not to vote on Sweden's and Finland's accession after every other European and American NATO member had.
>All the air shipments had to go around Hungary
Demonstrably false. Fatso even passed a government decree that shit can go through Hungary, between NATO countries, only "condition" is that nothing goes directly from Hungary to Ukraine. Which again is a nothingburger since supplies are going in from Poland.
https://english.atlatszo.hu/2022/05/13/weapons-shipments-for-ukraine-did-pass-through-hungary-despite-the-governments-contradicting-claims/
Sure, they're dragging their feet with the NATO ratification in Parliament, but there's no way they'll revoke their support and veto, that would be spectacularly stupid and nonsensical, even for him.
>Nope.
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/hungary-pm-orban-says-eus-russia-sanctions-should-be-scrapped-report-2022-09-22/
Truly a bastion of the western world.
I believe he said something along the lines of "except for rhetoric."
IIRC hungary went along with everything and hasn't actually blocked anything yet.
>Buys russian oil and stuff.
Most of eastern Europe has done so though usually with Germany as the middleman.
Some then blamed Germany for buying Russian gas while buying "German" gas.
This war has been weird on the propaganda side.
guess you are also still mad at all the other EU countries for supporting america in invading astan and iraq?
Tried to block and watered down certain EU sanctions?
I said not rhetoric
So far the hungary didn't block anything
They have watered and slowed them down.
I doubt 2 months of delay really matter in the grand scheme of things, but this way the Hungarian economy won't collapse completely
How exactly would the Hungarian economy collapse if Kirill was sanctioned? Because Hungary asked to remove him from the list.
>if you don't have your own people suffer for the interests of an international elite you are evul nazi
with every day I feel that Hitler was right a little bit more
Blocking NATO expansion. Blocking arms aid to Ukraine through Hungary.
>NOOOO YOU CANT JUST SAY NO TO US TRANSPORTING WEAPONS OF WAR THROUGH YOUR TERRITORY SO IT CAN KILL THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DESPITE THE FACT WE’RE NOT AT WAR WITH RUSSIA
Kurva anyád pufajkás cigány, mind lógni fogtok
Stop being obsessed Jesus frick
Except that matters strategically because Hungary is not a reliable NATO partner and really never should have joined in the first place. Magyars would rather be Russian as like Serbs they share most of their cultures so it's natural for Hungary to side with its real brothers.
Hungary buys Western weapons for pragmatic reasons because Russian gear is nearly always junk, but Hungarians want nothing to do with NATO or the EU as Orban demonstrates. Unlike Turkey whose existential enemy Russia has always been, Hungary is natural for vatnik assimilation because it's simple, devoutly superstitionist peasants are so easily manipulated. Hungarian intelligentsia were wiped out under Stalin and were too few to matter had they survived. The military implications for NATO aren't severe but Hungary is a permanent weak point with a deep love for all things Soviet. (1958 got rid of the patriots.)
Any time someone says "X" is not a reliable NATO partner, they're just butthurt about that specific country for other reasons.
>Hungary is natural for vatnik assimilation
The fundamental Hungarian cultural touchstones that left and right agree on are the 1848 and the 1965 revolutions, both of which were put down by the russians
There's no love lost on ruskies here
An underrated phenomenon is that just since 2017, Hungary has been quietly disposing of ALL of their Russian arms.
>no AKs, only Brens
>no RPGs, only Gustafs
>no Migs, only Gripens
>no T-72s, only Leopads
>no BMPs, only Lynxes
They even replaced their fricking S-300 grid with American missiles
Preparing for the inevitable Greece-Turkey war
Also the mi 17 and 24 will be not be further modernized, the h225m and the h145m are supposed to take over the capabilities
Still using the pkm tho
And we have a shitload of btr 80s, the gidráns will kinda replace them I guess in time
>And we have a shitload of btr 80s, the gidráns will kinda replace them I guess in time
Eventually they will be replaced by the Hitron which is a (still unannounced) 8x8 APC by Rheinmetall.
source?
Mostly just rumors at this point and this accidentally uploaded pic from Eurosatory with the chief of staff
cool
don't really see the point though, what does it offer over the Boxer? Rheinmetall is involved with the Boxer already so it seems redundant
Probably the fact they won't have to deal with KMW or Nexter.
fair enough
Boxer has gone smoother and has more export success than Puma though, gonna be harder to sell than Lynx I think
That's gigantic compared to the btr
The Boxer is huge too. It's just how things are for modern IFVs
They have the Boxer, what’s the point?
Boxer is a Rheinmetall/KMW co-production
the Hitron on the other hand will be 100% Rheinmetall, now combine that with the Lynx being a Rheinmetall only production it makes sense.
are they gonna shill KF51 Panther/Lynx/Hitron combos to countries and give discounts if you buy all three?
would be kinda funny, now that they have a Lynx factory a Hiltron factory would give them enough mechanized production power
I guess it makes sense since Rheinmetall let’s you do local production while KMW doesn’t
but the BMPs are still produced in ukraine. i believe they were always produced there.
what's happening to the old Soviet stuff? Sent to Ukraine or is that not happening due to Orban?
No military stuff has been sent to Ukraine. Partly because thats Orbans policy, and partly because there is not much to send there.
Whatever isn't needed to maintain some sembalance of a functioning army has already been given away (upgraded T-72s to Iraq during the 2000s), or is complete junk.
Like there are more than a dozen Mig-29 rotting away in the open without maintenance, which is borderline criminal negligence.
Hungarians are gays. Even the ones who say they hate gays.
>~~*Szájer*~~
Totally not a filthy israelite.
nice
how many is hungary getting of these?
Around 250 in different variants
>normal Lynx
>Mortar Carrier with 120mm mortar
>Ambulance
>C2/C3 vehicle
>Air Defence variant with autocannon (SPAAG) especially designed to counter drones.
how the frick are 4 spike launchers fitting on that tower. what is that magic
They are stored in the bulges and pop out when needed.
That’s an extreme waste
*notices the bulge*
A few corrections.
No confirmation on exact missile number, but it is likely only 2 on one side.
Those are the kinetic/kill elements of the Strikeshield APS. "An Energy Blade", likely some sort or reactive material dust that deflagrates during interception. Safe but effective.
The side panel idea was dropped, they are top mounted.
The side panels are all armor, at least at the APS. "Handles" are kinetic/kill elements for the APS.
Top mounted in current model.
I too would've liked an actual HE-FRAG projectile instead of the Shrapnel AHEAD, but nothing can be perfect.
A little trivia. The Strikeshield is an active protection system, but once used, it won't just disappear like spent ERA tiles. The box us made from HHS or UHH steel, and offers some protection by itself. Not much, but it is placed on top of already present armor, and it protects that.
Should have bought redback. This thing looks gay as frick too
Between these toys, Leopards and PZH 2000 the Hungarians gonna secure their lost Carpathian province in no time!
with all these purchases, Hungarian army will have like one third the equipment Romania currently has, and its not like not literally every EE nation is planning on shitloads of more purchases.
Remember, their army barely exists as of now. Most ex-WP nations have modernized their soviet stock or developped their own stuff, in contrast Hungary totally let their defense industry go. Right now they have no self propelled arty (okay, I think two pzhs arrived), barely any AA and tanks, no MLRS, and so on. They got trucks I guess, and the Gripens. In mid-2010s Orban only spent like 0,5% of their GDP on defense, and the figure wasn't much higher before either. From what I gather even during WP times they ignored their people's army since they had the soviet southern army group stationedt here.
It's a step in the right direction, but let's not pretend Hungary is going to be any kind of half-relevant military power.
I like the Hungarian uniform.
Nice camo but the hats look really goofy
It isn't that bad. At least it's not fricking berets.
Why do hats have boners? I am confuse.
Looks way better than the prototypes.
>HATO propaganda even in the captcha baka
I liked the scifi look tbh, now it's just an other ifv
When Europe stops illegally occupying Hungarian territory then maybe we will care what they think
bazdmeg de utalom a kurva hoholokat. marha NATO faszszopo allatok remelem hogy a putin jo nagyott szar rajuk
>Also in the official press release they mention rheinmetalls anti air ahead projectiles for the autocanonn
Wow, talk about grounbreaking new innovations!
I don't think AHEAD uses a proxy fuze. It doesn't have to get close to the target to explode, it's done by the fire computer at the optimal range.
>40/57 mm
The thing is big enough as it is, no reason to make it bigger
So almost exactly the same?
And who are the Hungarians going to fight, exactly?
everyone in their neighborhood, since most hold "ancient" hungarian clay:
>Romania
>Slovakia
>Serbia
>Ukraine
>Austria
They'll be the Paraguay of Europe, can't wait for that catastrophic endeavor to happen
Fe fi fo fum. I smell the blood of Roma scum.
Kek, in 10 years when gypsymania completly colapses demographically and NATO is irrelevant they will get their land back.
Based Hungary not buying into EU progressive shit.
Much love from Poland.
>when gypsymania completly colapses demographically
Will that before or after hungary collapses demographically?
