Did they say it plainly, or did moron from CNN claim they did?
It's amazing how a generally hawkish nation like the USA has lost all of its capable war reporters while Europe managed to retain most of theirs.

          Anonymous

All of the capable reporters were killed in WWII or retired by 1965. They were mostly replaced by communist sympathizers who hated the US military.

There have been plenty of war since 1965. Did the US public rely on just European reports, or did they not have any interest in any "on the ground" reporting like talking to random soldiers and civilians?

Sell weapons to Ukraine and destroy your enemy at the same time? Win win.

The proportionate Russian response to this would be to integrate Iranian and Syrian missiles with GLONASS and provide guidance/targeting in a hypothetical US assault.

At this point, Russia isn’t even waging a war of conquest, they won’t have the means to populate and exploit the territory. All they will have is charred wastelands that will stay that way. This is a war of destruction, a nuke would be the logical conclusion to Russia’s actions.

It only means that everyone has a vested interest in completely destroying Russia and piecing it out to cover their losses now. Had Russia stepped back in the first two weeks they might have been able to play it off, but now the only way Europe is going to make a profit is to see Russia broken and federalized into tiny states owned by European energy concerns.

Remains the single most enjoyably surreal thing about this. I didn't even buy into the idea that there would be a widespread insurgency, I thought they would fold after an unironic two weeks of disjointed, but in places fierce fighting, and then Russia would be raising the eyebrow at Poland by Spring next year.

It was by the time Chernobaivka shenanigans started and the Red Forest debacle happened that it began to sink in why we were seeing so many Stugna'd buttholes and TB2 clips. Ukrainians have killed more Russians in war than anybody since WWII and it's still hilarious and still surreal.

Hell a lot of those weapons were designed with the idea that they'd be used against Russia in the first place. They're basically being used for exactly what they were intended for with almost no risk to the US, and at the cost of exactly zero American lives. Please don't show me the United Nation's vote, it's nothing more than "look we respect international laws, we send you thoughts and prayers", it's just a facade. If you ask them to take part in it, African and Arab nations will ask why the entire world should support Ukraine and cut ties with Russia, while no one cared when they were at war with Western nations or their neighbors, and from their perspective they are not wrong.

China can let Ukraine be nuked, it won't change their credibility in the eyes of Black folk and muslims, they hate the West far too much to care about a shady treaty no one knew about until February. Any non-moronic nation knows that the only reliable defense against nukes, is to have nukes yourself.

            >Not if you only count functional nukes and missles.
Russian and American nuclear arsenals are inspected by one another every year, in accordance with the New START treaty signed in 2010. Yes Russia has over 6k nukes, yes the vast majority are functional, yes they are maintained. As I said, even 10% of their nuclear arsenal is more than enough to glass Europe, they could have hundreds of non-functional weapons, it wouldn't change much.
Nuclear and rocket industries are the only fields in which Russia has always been self sufficient. They know this is their only leverage and last line of defense.

I mean, if only you could read what you posted but that's probably too difficult. The article also gives information about the yearly inspections.

For me? I like dead Russians. They sponsored terrorists in my country, political extremists too. They caused misery and fear in my nation so now I like to see Russians die. The more the better. I wish they televised more funeral so I could see the parents and wives and children crying when they bury Russians. I want to be able to brutally rape and sexually abuse the male and female Russian embassy staff of Europe after the Russian state completely collapses as planned between 2004 and 2027 and I am going to. I want to see a former Russian ambassador for Putin cry real tears as the tries to fore another can of baked bears in his anus for another couple of notes for the stack of cash but he realises he can't and he's going to have another finger cut off. I want to see tears roll down his face when he realises everything was going to be cut off anyway and just when he seems dead inside produce his child and start on that while he watches. I'm a moderate.

dear brain fricked piece of deep state shit who is living of my taxes, here are what can happen:

USA have absolute low educated inbreed israeli morons as political decision makers. They are not even considering to stop any war in Europe. the fricking Yugoslavia is still there. the war is not over there. the muric**t deep state has no interest to stop a war. they are feeding us shit-lies about Putin and that he has to go and then the war will end. but in reality it will keep going on like in Afghanistan for decades, because such fricks like you and israelites from deep state are feeding and financing their luxury life's from those wars. there are only two ways to stop this war. 1 russians win and israelites loose control over Ukraine by mil.power. 2 US population wrecks the deep state and hands Ukraine to russians. everything else only means a war for next decades where everyone will suffer as Kagan clan will buy the east coast properties for fun and giggles.

the US is occupied by non democratically elected oligarch elites who are trying to keep friendly fellow corrupt elites in power because they use the nation for embezzlement of US taxpayer dollars through the MIC as well as use it for various domestically-illegal activities like signal intelligence spy stations to spy on US citizens and biowarfare labs. the idiots are also trying to deliberately protract the conflict to maintain heightened world energy prices which will help them to pass domestic energy policies which will benefit themselves and their benefactors who own or are invested in said green energy companies. it will also help create enough inflation to keep the US debt interest payments sustainable while providing a convenient scapegoat for the low IQ masses at home.

The long-range artillery supplied by the West gives the Armed Forces the opportunity to reach the rear areas of Donbass and strike, without any military logic, solely for the purpose of revenge and intimidation, against civilians. On June 15, such strikes were inflicted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine using 155-mm Caesar howitzers received from NATO countries, as a result of which 6 civilians were killed and more than 30 were injured. Every week, dozens more dead and wounded are added to this terrible statistics. Yesterday, for the first time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used the MLRS M142 (HIMARS) received from the USA in the city of Pervalsk in the LPR. Today, we have not heard any mention of these strikes against civilian objects and civilians in the Donbass either from Western or from Ukrainian colleagues. You don’t care about this, like all 8 years, while the Ukrainian army methodically destroyed the inhabitants of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics

Russia NEEDS to secure the eastern Ukrainian gas deposits. At the very least position themselves to threaten those they can’t take. They already killed a Shell deal with Ukraine doing that. They’ve secured the Black Sea fields so they just need those land deposits. They REALLY want to regime change Kiev and take them out of the Western orbit — and thereby eliminate threats to their gas sales to Europe. Russia is an oil state run by Putin and his circle of oligarchs using hydrocarbon exports to fund their royal lifestyles and also keep them in power using soft power — enormous amounts of money. Taking the Western market from them would be a death-blow to this group. And the West is seizing on this opportunity to do just that — before Russia succeeds and saves the oligarchs’ bacon.

Why do they care so much? Because all the Soviet hydrocarbon export infrastructure — pipelines, pumping stations, storage facilities, etc — was built in Ukraine. The big deposits discovered 8-10 years ago have the capability of replacing Russian gas. Russia is by far the largest gas producer on the planet and Putin’s group relies on it for their fabulous wealth and power. Very little of ends up building up Russian economies, the oligarchs care only about mega yachts, palaces and keeping the system of bribery going. If those deposits get developed Ukraine could use their export infrastructure to sell it to Europe thereby cutting out Russia. Nordstream 2 was an attempt to get some security by selling to Europe via a paid-off Germany. That failed. Putin’s quick action in 2014 kept the West out of the gas but it wasn’t a long term solution. He HAD to invade, the clock was ticking.

      Anonymous

      >Nordstream 2 was an attempt to get some security by selling to Europe via a paid-off Germany. That failed.
It only failed because Putin invaded. The reality is that Putin could have stolen the march on the Ukraine by getting Nordstream 2 up running in 2022-3 years before they could properly compete with it, solidifying Russian soft power in the EU and giving their ailing economy a much needed economic injection.
...But instead he did exactly what the US wanted and started a NATO/RUS proxy war in the Ukraine that forced the traitorous Germ*ns to shut down NS2 (as per USA's wishes) and pretend to help NATO in the proxy war.
      Now:
      >Russia is a pariah in the EU again and nord stream 2 is totally dead.
      >NATO is back from the dead with new Russian border members
      >The US and UK finally get to fund another proxy war against Russia.
      >The Russian military is in tatters and their reputation is even worse than it was during the 1st Chechen war.
      >The power balance between Russia and China is now heavily in China's favor.
      >Embargoes have done so much damage to the Russian economy that it will take decades to recover and has left the current regime open to a coup.
      >The oligarchs have lost 100s of millions in property and lost profits.

So in short, Putin had the choice to either continue with diplomatic efforts and take a slight pay cut in the future or go to war and lose literally everything. And he chose the moron option.

Except he couldn't. Afair a lot of long term contracts on Rußian gas/oil expires in 2022. And short term contracts aren't as beneficial for Rußians.

i think putin did what's best for the EU and HATO

        Putin is absolute moron.
He could've listen to FSB, call of units from borders so western glowies would look like fearmongering idiots, wait for NS2 to finish, build more soft power with funding EU radical parties, meanwhile watch EU being absolutely dependent on Russian gas and than in the aftermath of Ukrainian presidental election (2024) do some Crimmea 2: Electric Boogaloo and simply take parts of their territory while the west would just watch not giving a frick. Bonus points no Sweden and Finland in NATO.
        He is truly 5D chessmaster.
