Newfags don't remember, but prior to the awb expiring in 2004, ARs really werent very common or inexpensive.
These days, the scary rifle the media likes to name is an AR-15, but in the 90s everything was an "ak47".

I remember as a kid back then every assault rifle looking gun was an “AK-47” and every handgun was a “Desert Eagle” or an “Uzi”

There were quite a few Mini 14s and SKS rifles back then, too; this despite the fact that the SKS was specifically named in Clinton's gun grab.

The Mini 14 was the chosen rifle of 70's and 80's survivalist militiamen.

I'd like to get an uzi, parts kits are cheap, but redesigning it to be closed bolt seems retarded and puts me off the whole idea.

They're actually not bad at all.
The full size smg is heavy as shit but that really cuts the recoil down to nothing.
You'd be surprised how accurate they are, I think the closed bolt semi is actually a lot more accurate than the open bolt in semi (at least at like 100m) because you don't have a giant fucking boat anchor moving in the receiver channel when you pull the trigger.
They're incredibly simple to reweld too, if it's your first time doing a welding project I would def. recommend it.

      >Sexooooooo
Even though I'm not a huge Micro or Mini Uzi fan. I'm more in agreeance with Uziel Gal who believed that extra bolt travel/receiver space were beneficial to both reliability and controllability.

There's a lot of shit I would do for a full auto micro uzi for CC.

    No it ain't.
But I do love the micro Uzi. I'd say it still has a place for being more controllable than a Glock with a switch.

In the way that the media demonized it? 100%
Was it commonly found in the hands of the usual gun-owner in the US like AR15s are today? Not really.
