No, you really can't. I've had enough friends lose toolboxes out of locked cars over the years to know never to leave anything valuable in a vehicle if you can avoid it.
Losing a firearm this way is straight up careless.

you're right. but I think /k/ is too hard on car carriers. bad shit happens all the time, shit, you can get a $3,000 catalytic converter cut off of your car.

so long as the owner takes reasonable measures to protect a gun, I dont think its their fault. If someone steals a hidden gun that means they would've broken in anyways.

Having le tactical butler attached to your car seat is just making you a target.

He probably had gun brand stickers on his vehicle as well.

I feel safe leaving my sunglasses, phone car charger, a pack of gum and a box of facial tissues in plain view, but anything else, is hidden away, kept in the trunk of just simply taken inside.

Dude had a quick holster/safe organizer barrel rod right next to his steering wheel and left his gun there...wtf was expecting to happen?

I bet he's a sheltered kid who never experienced hardship his whole life. It's like how some people in 2022 still leave their doors unlocked or leave the front door open all the time (for some reason Mexicans do that a lot)

This is my big reason I have always liked Jeeps: whenever the weather allows I keep the top and doors off pretty much 24/7. If it rains I have a cover for it I can slap on quick. When it starts getting cold I begrudgingly put everything back on.

I do off-road in it, just not all that much (no public land here in Texas), and I like knowing I have a vehicle capable of doing so.

This is how it is with me and Jeeps. My dad bought a CJ7 Golden Eagle off the showroom floor. I bought an 85 CJ7 in 1991. Sadly, dad sold the Golden Eagle to my uncle in the early 80's when we moved but I kept my 85 CJ7 until it rusted away (yeah Florida and living near the beach). Neither CJ hardly ever saw doors or a top. I did have a bimini top on mine because frick the direct sunlight sitting in traffic during Florida summers.

              >This is why "truck guns" are a meme.
I have a DIY roll out in my SRT, like picrel but way cheaper. But I still never leave my gear in the thing. Imagine arming some crack head teen ffs. People are dumb.

This is very similar to what I had installed in my CJ7. Not that I stored firearms back there, but because I needed a locked space to store anything of value. I also had a lockable center console as well. I did keep my pistol in there though, but always removed it if I was going to be away from the Jeep for any extended period of time.

                >Neither CJ hardly ever saw doors or a top.
This is how I have been. I even got used to taking my hard tops off and on by myself by hand. Good workout, almost shit myself a few times too.
                >I did have a bimini top on mine because frick the direct sunlight
Yeah I have always used bikinis or mesh tops. I wouldn't if I could get away with it but I live in South Texas and I have no hair on my head so doesn't take long to bake myself red.

Sadly we have a JKU cause my wife thinks we need to be able to take our kids with us for some reason. It feels weird driving a Jeep with four doors after having a CJ5, YJ, 2x TJ and a JK. Don't like it. Need another TJ instead.

I can't be the only one who finds it funny that the code against concealed carry is 30-06

I enjoyed getting my jeep stuck in Bayous up to the frame, slinging doughnuts in the mud, and generally taking woodland trails. Gas made it too expensive a hobby ontop of the already expensive parts and maintenence. Good times tho, would recommend.

            Anonymous

            >gas made it too expensive
This always cracks me up, how was it reasonable at $3-4 per gallon but suddenly unreasonable at $5-6? If you have a 15 gallon tank and you have to fill it completely every time you go offroading, that's $45 at $3 per gallon and $75 at $5 per gallon. Thirty dollars more per outing. On top of the initial purchase price, vehicle maintenance, insurance, and registration (if applicable), you're telling me that $30 per offroading trip pushed you over the edge? Meanwhile you can send $30 downrange in about 5 minutes with a gun.
It's fine if it's too expensive, but "muh gas prices" is a really stupid excuse. Even at $10 per gallon gas would still make up only a small fraction of the entertainment cost of offroading.

I've wondered about storing guns in a car since I might have to during overnight hunting and the like I know that it's probably the most likely place for guns to be stolen but why don't people just chain them to the seats and cover with a blanket? I can't really fit a secure case in my car so I figured that would be the solution if I ever had to. Leaving a gun in plain sight in your punisher sticker covered new jeep just screams rich white guy.

I got a 500 and while it's just as bad as any other car off road it's fine if you know how to drive on them plus the acceleration is great

        >Stores valuable and high-risk items (firearms) in extremely visible location
        >It's somehow shocking when it gets stolen
This is why "truck guns" are a meme. Vehicles are NOT places to store guns. Best case scenario a tweaker pawns it for meth money and gets arrested for the theft and attempting to sell it.
Worst case scenario someone gets murdered with your gun and some Karen DA decides this is criminal negligence on your part.

yeah but carrying in a vehicle sucks, the draw is slower and it's very uncomfortable on long drives. And you can suffer internal injuries if the seatbelt interacts with the gun during a collision.

overall, car carry is fine just keep it out of sight and dont cover your car with "i own guns" bumperstickers. the idiot in the OP basically broadcasted what he had.

          >death wobbles in your path
Death wobble is 100% caused by autists that frick with their suspension and get the geometry all messed up. They usually lift it and live with extremely fricked caster or bandaid it. They don't upgrade their control arms or track bar cause they thought their budget boost lift only needed shocks and springs or worse yet they tried to fix it with a drop pitman arm or by "upgrading" their steering damper.
          >t. lifted several Jeeps with not one death wobble issue cause I will only do it on mine or help with friends if they order the right parts
Most anyone that gets death wobble after a lift deserves the pants shitting that comes to them
          >This is why "truck guns" are a meme
It's sad that it's a meme. My moms would tell me how she remembered going to the store as a kid and it was not at all uncommon to see guns hanging in truck windows. Not even in BFE but Dallas and San Antonio.
I use a small lock box under my seat that is bolted to the tub (using the seat's bolts). I figure there's little leverage to be able to pry it open and if they have the time they need to get into it then I fricked up anyway. It's only big enough for a pistol anyway and I only store it there if I absolutely cannot take it inside: school, feds. buildings, places with metal detectors, but anyone with a 30.06 sign can suck my dick.

I think a temporary holster that you can use while driving makes a certain degree of sense from a safety and access point of view, but even that seems questionable.

it all depends on how good you hide it. At some point the thief is just stripping your vehicle. At that point they're in possession of a 2-ton killing machine anyways so a gun is the least of my worries.

I've hid guns in all kinds of weird spots. Behind the seatbelt trim, underneath gear shifter, behind floor carpet, etc. I also have a fuel pump shutoff switch that I flip when im in shitty neighborhoods, so my car is unstealable

          this.

          >gas made it too expensive
Even at $10 per gallon gas would still make up only a small fraction of the entertainment cost of offroading.

found the gas company and gas tax shill.

if it was ENVG-B, it's an unobtanium $60,000 night vision binocular that has a thermal overlay. It also has a fully digital display which allows integration with guncams and other sensors for corner shooting.

If it was an EOTech ENVG, it's a simple night vision monocular with thermal overlay. Both are incredibly valuable and rare though.

I have six plus a Trump bumper sticker and nothing has ever happened even when my guns are in plain sight because I live around whites. These threads are DNC demoralization intended to make you leery of transporting your guns around, with the end goal being that your guns spend all their time at home in a locked safe and you never talk about them, letting the DNC control the narrative that "there aren't that many gun owners, it's all a Republican lie" and "if shit goes down you won't have your gun on you anyway so 'good guy with a gun' is a bad argument". Earlier they were making threads about therapy and disapproving family members with the same goal. Funny how those stay up, but threads about Paul Harrell discussing tactics to handle a mass shooting situation get deleted, or other completely /k/ related threads that aren't the suspiciously strawmanny vatnik spam Ukraine threads.

Always good advice if you live in a hostile area. Better yet do the opposite, and use BLM, coexist, anarchy, stickers. Use those easy to place and remove interior window static stickers. You never know when you might have to be stealthy, in some part of the city you happen to be in.

The number of peoole who dont even lock their doors is mindboggling especially when they keep guns, laptops, wallets, social security cards, etc. If you keep a bunch of shit sitting in the open you dont deserve to be suprised when somebody steals it from your vehicle. Here in California vehicle smash and grabs are through the roof everywhere and just insane around the bay area.
My one friend in SF had his car broken into three times last year, first time they stole his mountain bike, second time an empty box, and the third time a pack of bubble gum,
He now leaves his car windows rolled down and doors unlocked.

How is this possible when two weeks worth of camping gear easily fits in a single backpack that'd fit in the passenger seat of a fricking Miata?

        Anonymous

Because people have different ideas of the style of camping they want to participate in? Just like some people tow a camper while others manage to fit all their needs on the back of a Super Cub that makes the passenger seat of a car look like it has serious hauling capacity.

          Anonymous

Then I could say an F350 doesn't have enough room for even a weekend camping trip because it doesn't have enough space to fit a 3,500sqft luxury cabin. Camping duration as a car descriptor is stupid.

It amazes me how naive and out of touch some of these "preppers" can be. You'd think they'd at least have a grasp of the social side of things, like your shit getting stolen can obviously happen so don't leave it in a glass box sitting in public. I'll tell you now as a cop, 90% of guns that criminals get their monkey paws on are stolen out of vehicles or houses that they burglarize. The other 10% are straw purchases or they buy it themselves if their record is still clean enough or they cam figure out private sales. But rarely would I run into them with a gun that wasn't registered as stolen, and what's worse is you morons have no clue what your serial numbers are so half the time they get to keep your gun even if they get picked up with it, so long as they're not yet a prohibited possessor. Write down your s/n's now because gun shops don't give you that info after the fact, nor do they give it to law enforcement. They only give it to the feds they're required to comply with or if it's subpoenaed/warranted which isn't part of a simple burglary report process. You're literally giving your gun away forever, even if it does end up recovered, if you don't have your s/n written somewhere.

Why do these lazyBlack folk do this shit? Its fine to have a carry gun you keep in the car, but dont have autistic NRA and punisher stickers on your vehicle or if you are too mentally ill to not have the stickers and you cant park your car in a garage at least take out the the guns and ammo you carry every day. Frick me it takes zero effort and this would curb a good portion of illegal guns on the street. I keep a get home bag and a bigass first aid kit in my truck, covered with a blanket, not entirely hidden but obscured.

The get home bag is secured in a pacsafe exomesh, it would take more than a smash and grab to steal it and it would make it more difficult for such an attack to get shit out of the bag so losses would be minimal.

Demoralization thread. If they can't take your guns from you, they want you to keep them locked up in a safe forever so that they can argue you don't actually use them for your own defense. They don't want you to be visibly pro-gun because their narrative is that there are "a relatively small number of gun owners who just own a bunch of guns individually" to cope with just how many guns are in the US. This is a psyop. Look at it, learn from it, reject it.
