MBTs are great at killing MBTs, seeing there are so many other options these days and MBTs can't use their armor to survive these threats I think we'll see the return of the light tank. >armor just thick enough to bounce what's left after APS >large low velocity cannon to delete buildings for infantry support >crewless turret to reduce weight >under 40 tons so they can cross any bridge trucks can
Militaries move slow and are scared of change so I don't expect to see this shift before 2040 but I think it's coming.

Put EFP instead of RPG 7 warhead on any FPV drone, during final stage instead of ramming target put crosshairs on target and press "explode " button.
You can mode with such APS negating warhead pretty much all drones: FPV drones, Switchbladet, Lancet , Spike ATGM etc. AFAIK French already ordered kamikaze drone with such warhead.
Point is if you rely just on APS, it is much easier to negate such protection, just throw heavy rock at target, this kill light tank.
>Put EFP instead of RPG 7
Current APS are too short ranged and the doppler filter makes them vulnerable to slow objects.
I asume that

is thinking in APS far better the current ones like Trophy/Drozd (range limited to 20m at best) or Iron Fist/Arena-Afganit (less limited by munition range but the sensors are limited).

That is the point you can shoot EFP outside range of pretty much all existing and planned APS.

Because current APS are barely an improved version of slat armor, still a anti-RPG (and GM) protection system.

and I'm more thinking EFPs can kill MBTs, arguing "but X will kill an APS dependant light tank" isn't much of an argument if the same weapon can easily be scaled to kill a MBT. If you are losing a vehicle either way better to have a cheaper vehicle with less crew.
Also I don't think APS needs to improve much until it fucks on APFSDS hard enough for much thinner armor to stop what's left.

I'm sold anon, it would lead to some crazy combat footage, I just hope they don't get hit by a thrown turret.

Can we get it to make a comical "sproing!" noise when it yeets the crew?
>MBTs are great at killing MBTs
What I don't understand is that this seems to be the whole purpose of their armament, they're purpose engineered to kill other tanks, yet everything I've read and seen in Ukraine indicates that tank on tank conflicts are actually extremely rare.

>MBTs are great at killing MBTs,
they are also great as artilery since they are far more precise
Direct fire is terrible artillery because you need line of sight.
i have seen them use drones to direct tanks lobbing shells. it doesnt seem all that effective but if you have nothing else why not
just thick enough to bounce what's left after APS
>drone shoots EFP warhead from 200 feet away
>psst, nothing personnel, lightido
That kills MBTs so there is no downside if it kills light tanks.

Future APS needs to be less naive.

Where is your god now?
so retvrn to STUG
