Yeah the optics cover plate made me do a double take- that's kind of stupid. You lose your rear sight by putting an optic on it.

I know that's all the rage with some kids these days but I will always want a 1/3 cowitness for any handgun with a red dot.

        Anonymous

Maybe there’s an integrated rear sight on the optics plate like the LTT style optics cut. Probably not though since how small the cheetah is

Only poorgay morons are still trying to push this. You might think you know more and are more capable than some of the best shooters in the game, whether that be sport or tactical, but you're not and you're behind the curve. Are you the type of homosexual that says red dots on rifles are a meme too? It's an equally stupid take.

            Anonymous

It's ok, we understand that some people need all the help they can get when shooting a handgun :^)

explain how extra help is bad. what is the tactical reason you make aiming more complex for yourself?
explain how a single dot is more difficult.

            Anonymous

You mean the same best shooters who show that red dots don't offer any advantage inside of 15 yards on only four targets? Let me guess, this is the part where you flip the story and say that these guys are too good and most people won't get to that level of shooting with irons? It seems that red dot gays love to say both.

We get it, you have an astigmatism. No one cares about your cope boomer.

              Anonymous

Don't care. The studies have been out for years, RDS massively increased practical accuracy in realistic practice and real world conflicts. More importantly then increasing just hits they considerably improve anatomically relevant hits(particularly with handguns). The army studies for rifles have been out for decades, the battlefield results support them, the pistol results have been out for years and results from scored force on force training back them up.

This boomer cope is stale and sad at this point.

                Anonymous

Of course after showing visual proof of pistol red dots not offering any realistic advantage, I'm just called a boomer with no real counter evidence. It's getting boring how often I'm proven right. Also, by "studies" and your post, I'm guessing you're referring to the single Sage Dynamics pistol red dot study, which had several holes in the data that make it inconclusive, and there's a reason why nobody since has been able to replicate it.

yeah just like those guys in the 80s look at red dots on ar15s with cringe now, don't they?

I assume you have not used a red dot on a pistol before. It feels like cheating by how fast you are able to get on target and get a solid group.

        Anonymous

It looks like they completely removed the possibility of regular-cost replaceable rear sights just to check off the optics ready meme on the marketing checklist. I never thought we would get to the point of companies sacrificing established customization opportunities for a trend.

Based, too bad they won't offer it in .32 ACP. I have a model 81 and it's a great little package for introducing noobs to something bigger than a .22.

Is .32 really superior to .380? The smallest handgun caliber I own is 9mm but I am slightly interested in an 80x

They are similar. I think it comes down to the situation and loading. I would rather have the .380 myself.

Ballistically speaking? No way in hell .32 ACP has much lower energy than .380 ACP.
However between the two if I was at the range I would pick the .32 since I could shoot it all day long. The .380 really has a much snappier recoil that can be unpleasant.

.380 isn't snappy even in a small gun.
I have no idea what the energy differences are today but they perform very similarly in ballistics gel.

Did they make the safety into a de-wienerer? only thing that would make me remotely interested in this.

I'm pretty sure that the modern 80 series like the FS models already include a de-wienerer in the thumb safety. Wouldn't be surprising if this gun includes the same.

For the money, an MC14 turk pistol is a much better buy.

          >muh energy
Literally does not matter one little bit. It's a fricking handgun. The only thing the bullet damages is what it touches. The effectiveness of everything from .32 ACP to .44 magnum is equal because of this. Penetration uber alles, energy and power is for morons.

.380 blowbacks can seem a bit snappy to weak shooters, I'll give you that, but on something the size of the 8-whatever, it really should not be any sort of problem.

There's a reason why this gun is being made in the Italy factory and costs $850.
            It's not for you.
Beretta lost big with the US mil contract and they're now trying to set out some bait for Euro police guns, and euro/international civilian gun sales.
            >why would international civilians want this if I don't want it?
Because numerous countries (including Italy) ban the possession of "military" ammo such as 9x19 and as such 380 ACP is the most popular handgun chambering in Italy. Mexico has a similar law except they like 38 Super.

    .380 blowback is snappy
    .380 recoil operated is not

It's still dumb because it's not as if anyone who isn't a literal child can't control the recoil of 9mm, which is also cheaper than .380 according to Ammoseek prices. There's really no point to this gun, and I don't see it succeeding when the surplus 380 Berettas are about half the price and more aesthetic. This new gun is ugly as frick and looks like it would be no easier to carry than a 92 Centurion if you actually added a red dot and light to it.

The loss of the M9 will be mourned by everyone, but Beretta ought to have known that gravy train would come to a stop some day. Politics plays a bigger role than function, which is why they adopted a shit Sig over the obviously superior M9A3 and 19x pistols.

But the silver lining is we get more novel Beretta works of art, so it's all good.

    >The 80's are back

No they're not. Compare the smoothly flowing lines and curves of the original to that boxy ugly fricker. It's a perfect reflection of current year's soulless hellscape.

.380 is too weak though, it's not even as strong as a 9mm

It's neat they're making a modern version but for that price tag I could probably find an older one, and put some money into upgrading my 92X.
If it was smaller maybe I'd go for it.

it is funny how it all comes full circle. Im waiting for all the nerds to start praising .380 and .32 acp after shitting on it for years. I hope this starts a comeback for calibers outside 9mm.
Hopefully this comes full swing and we see repros of other classics as well
