>tfw finally achieved my dream of property ownership
>finally able to make a living from innawoods as long as I have internet
>have no fricking skills whatsoever to do any of the cool shit I wanted to do
>spend all my free time thinking about the cool stuff I'm going to do, like build a cordwood shack or an underground dwelling or something, when it comes time to do it I am helpless
It actually sucks. Don't make the mistake of thinking that if you just had property you'd love your off grid self sufficiency dream, unless you have the skills it just doesn't work.
bump

this is a slow board; you are not going to get your quick dopamine hit here.
Op here, that wasn't me and I have no idea why that person bumped the thread

Wow hard
get your ass out there and find a project and try.
don't know how to do it? good, hop on youtube and watch someone absolute mog your DIY skills.
but each project you do, you improve.
i was quite literally in the same situation as you (minus the feminine histrionics and defeatist attitude). after just a few years of random projects (electrical, plumbing, landscaping, carpentry, drywalling etc etc) i'm now quite proficient at making ugly, yet functional things.
You only get skills by attempting shit.
talk to other property owners around the area. Old ranchers are hands down the coolest people you could talk to and they can teach you what you want to know if you just treat them good. Or at least this has been my experience.
Dreaming about doing thing =/= deaming about success at doing thing.
People only get skills if they have fun just doing a thing for years and decades even if they suck at it.
Or if they are crazy dedicated and power though years of misery.
Oh but it will
You just need to start doing shit
How much money do you have left after buying the property?
None, I spent all my money on the property. I hoped I wouldn't have to spend any more money after buying the property because I could chop down trees myself and harvest the wood to build things.
This person
isn't me.
OP here, like I said in my post I still have an income because I work remotely. It's not a money issue.
I don't get it, are you like depressed? Or fear of failure? Or some kind of ADD executive dysfunction? Just do the thing you want to do. Or at least try and fail. Or buy a book or watch a YouTube video on the skill and than practice it.
Pic rel I'm making hardtack rn because I want to larp as a pioneer this weekend.
Wrong pic, my bad
and you will suffer from lack of machine, money, bunch of mans power in the end
>choose which phase of your project you want to complete
>identify first three steps of that project
>research step one of those three steps
>do step one
repeat with next steps
Go on the internet and learn and try? What's the worst that can happen?
Op chops off his finger while cutting planks
Happens all the time
