Texas Hill Country anons, where the frick do you shoot in this area that isn't full of stupid fudd rules, and goes past 100 yards? What the frick. How can a place like the Texas Hill Country not have any decent private clubs, or even decent public ranges? Please, help.
Frick you, Austinite. You stay in your homeless and homosexual containment city.
comal county homosexual
Apologies for the overreaction, anon. Comal Co. Is alright
frick ya mudda
I don't believe it goes past 100, but the Bulverde range didn't have any gay rules last time I went.
Cedar Ridge? Stops at 100 but it seems to be the most based. No bi-metal/steel core rules and can use your own targets.
Whoops meant bandera not bulverde
Really? I heard no rifle rounds on steel, but I’ve shot M855 there before and no one said a thing to me.
That's what their rules say on their website anyways. It's the closest range to my new place.
Well there you have it. If they host IDPA matches they can't be THAT fuddy/bad.
They have the gayest rules and a 60 year old boomer range officer who screams at you if you don't have a scope on their 100 yard range.
Are you frickin shittin me?
No, it's why I stopped going to any range. The idea of paying money to have some moron babysit me while I just try to sight in a gun is beyond annoying.
RifleGear has a great indoor range, but the ammo restrictions suck. Which is why I'm currently building my own outdoor range.
My club here in Houston is great. As long as you sign in, follow the few rules there are, and dont shoot our steel with steel core or penetrators, literally anything goes. I didn't realize how good I had it. I may just end up coming back to Houston on the weekends to shoot.
Is Cedar Ridge any good?
When I get settled in it's the first place I'm going to try. Stops at 100 yards but seems to be the least dumb.
Been meaning to see a IDPA match at Cedar and check the range out. Hopefully not fuddly or rando mall ninja saturated. Ideal range: follow the rules and leave me alone
Buy land Black. That's your only choice unless you wanna drive a few hours to the nearest public shooting land. That or go outside and make friends with people that own land
That's the plan eventually.
People who own land are just constantly irately screaming, dunno how the frick anybody makes friends with them
>doesn't own land
>points finger at those who do
Reddit tourists are out in force today
>More irate screaming
Sir, this is a Wendy's
Like said, buy some land or find somebody who owns some who'll let you shoot on it. Land is kinda pricey right now, because of all the doctors and lawyers looking for private hunting/shooting grounds, but the way things are going, there unfortunately may be a lot of farmland going up for sale within the next couple years as a result of the drought and the fertilizer shortage.
not telling u
I only ever been to Elm Fork. I hate it.
Wish I could find a place to just shoot as rapid fire as I want.
>tfw Elm Fork has the gayest rules ever
>tfw RifleGear's 100 yard range is always booked
Luckily I bought a bunch of land and I can shoot whatever I want since it's 50 acres+. I have been saving pallets to build targets for a 100 - 300 yard range. Would love some videos/tips for setting up a range.

Texas Holocaust is real
As real as auschwitz
Herr Komrade, you mean Austinschwitz?
Was at Alpine Haus last week (New Braunfels), shit was delicious. Checked local pawn shops for used gats but prices were no-go
Alpine Haus sucks balls dude. Although there was a guy in lederhosen playing the accordion last time I was there, so that was cool.
Oh ja mein freund. Der people hier know the value von der firearms. Du should drink der ziegenbock if du enjoy der bier
Glad the population where my land is like 8K people so I don't think there's much regulation. Only regs I've seen is on caliber based on land size but since we are 50+ acres it's not an issue.
That range you linked kinda sucks lmao. Basically build dirt mound.
Two years of nobody polluting due to covid restrictions. Dolphins actually swimming in Venice canals from the lack of pollution. Record low global output for manufacturing. Record low wood cutting/material processing. Yet temps spike?
Maybe you some should be a Texan and own "own" some land where you can do whatever you want. Why you post chili flag?
For 10 acres in central Texas your going to pay hefty. If I'm willing to drive four hours it gets cheaper but day trip is impractical
That's the Texas flag
Been a while, but I don't remember Bandera gun club being too bad.
Just go out on your property like the rest of us homosexual
Sure thing m8, I'll just let a 458 win mag fly on my .5 acres. Great advice, 10/10, would ask again.
Not my fault your poor
How many acres do you live on? Or are you poor?
Just shoot in your basement anon, I recommend a large box filled with carpet scaps as a back stop, it's good enough for steel core 7.62x54r.
try Lockhart
Old man from my parish let's me shoot on his land. Go to church maybe homosexual.
Where about in coonassland?
lampasas county
Another reminder that Texas is a Libertarian HOAesqe hellhole.
Whatever positive you think of Texas you are actually thinking of Oklahoma or Arizona
East Texas here. This is disgustingly true.
Just moved to East Texas near tyler. Love it here. I just shoot in my backayrd
Don't remind me anon. I'm already depressed enough about the situation. I shoot 3 times a week... this is gonna suck ass.
Uhhhh just don't live in a subdivision? Even living in town most older neighborhoods don't have HOAs.
>Oklahoma
You literally only own Tulsa and OKC. The rest in injun territory. What? You wanna get the rest of 'em, right?
>Libertarian HOA
isn't that a contradiction?
>Libetarian
Black person please, San Antonio may as well be a fricking police state with the egotistical, wannabe larper8t0r cops that'll call half the precinct on you, guns drawn, for a traffic ticket.
> There's so many speed traps that I put in new batteries in my radar scanner last week and the batteries are already half dead.
And if all that wasn't enough there's more land sharks than marked cruisers
>inb4 "well dondu nuffin illegal then", how about you quit being a whipped piece of shit for five seconds and see how predatory it is
Frick this state and the subhuman trash making it worse
You can always leave.
I imagine some would even prefer that you do.
>wannabe larper8t0r cops that'll call half the precinct on you, guns drawn, for a traffic ticket.
wtf you must be driving like an absolute Black person because SA cops don't give a frick about traffic violations.
I once bought a car of CL and was driving it home w/o insurance or registration of course, passed a cop in a school zone that I didn't realize was active. When they checked my license the address on it was more than a year out of date which is illegal and I got off with a warning. That's literally the only time I've been pulled over there.
Frick off I don't need any more dumbasses like you coming to my range and not being able to read the directions. I swear you idiots go off say you followed the directions and then get passed when you're not allowed on the range because you clearly didn't follow the procedure. How fricking hard is it for you to read and/or follow directions. All you have to do is say the color in the middle of the safety rules and hold up the number of fingers it tells you to at the end.
>How can a place like the Texas Hill Country not have any decent private clubs, or even decent public ranges?
People either have their own land or they have a buddy that does. How it's possible that you live in Texas and don't know someone who has, or whose family has, some massive ranch somewhere seems a bit unbelievable.
I am sure that most people do not know anyone who has thousands of acres of land.
You don't need thousands of acres to go shoot. 10 is fine.
you can make do on 5 even with a sturdy enough backstop if ya neighbors ain't some b***hes
To shoot centerfire rifles in the state, legally, you need at least 50. Do with this information what you will.
No you dont
He's wrong about that. I do think there is a rule about your slugs not crossing a property line, which makes some sense. Disclaimer: they told me this is Hunter Ed in 2002, and laws change
Title 7, Sec 229.02
REGULATION OF DISCHARGE OF WEAPON. A municipality may not apply a regulation relating to the discharge of firearms or other weapons in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the municipality or in an area annexed by the municipality after September 1, 1981, if the firearm or other weapon is:
(1) a shotgun, air rifle or pistol, BB gun, or bow and arrow discharged:
(A) on a tract of land of 10 acres or more and more than 150 feet from a residence or occupied building located on another property; and
(B) in a manner not reasonably expected to cause a projectile to cross the boundary of the tract; or
(2) a center fire or rim fire rifle or pistol of any caliber discharged:
(A) on a tract of land of 50 acres or more and more than 300 feet from a residence or occupied building located on another property; and
(B) in a manner not reasonably expected to cause a projectile to cross the boundary of the tract.
Well, damn, look at that. I had never heard of this rule before. I think the part about not discharging a bow or BB gun on a tract smaller than 10 acres is kind of stupid. This is under local government code, so where does it apply? County land?
Thank goodness I have 90 acres in a county zoning. Now help me setup a range fellow Texas bros and sign the liability sheet.
That means a city can't restrict usage if those qualifications are met. Those aren't laws.
I used to shoot pistols at a stack of logs on a half acre that backed up to 200 acre field before my neighborhood started to fill up. Local sheriff dept okayed it.
Meant to quote this
I'd you came from another state this isn't all that crazy
Texas sold a bunch of its state land a long time ago. It has open ranges still, but most of it is privately owned and fenced off. Get a group of anons together and see about buying some acreage. Make sure there is insurance because there is always one moron in the group who will do something dangerous and ruin it for everyone if yall dont keep a close eye on him.
OP here. I've lived here all my life and grew up hunting in the Hill Country. I was really shocked upon my return to the area to find all the ranches have been sold off and turned into subdivisions. I've shot at a private club south of Houston for about 14 years now. I'm planning on buying some land in Edwards county eventually, but where I'm moving to that'll still be a 3 hour drive. Worth it to not deal with fudds, and other fricking morons though.
OP, just leave the state, you'll thank me later
FRICK THE HILL COUNTRY
You crazy mother frickers are literally bat shit insane.
>Texas Slave Ranch
>Rampant corruption
>One regional hospital that bleeds you dry
>Autists going nuts on some children in Uvalde while illegals invade

What kind of moronic you must be to believe this dumb shit
Then explain the record breaking heat you dumb hicks.
It is Texas. It is summer. It is summer, in Texas.
>Muh Tejas summer
We're already on track to have more days over 100 than ever.
>We didn't frick on the environment for 2 years out of 200 so why didn't everything get fixed??
Jesus Christ you people must be Mexicans.
>Jesus Christ you people must be Mexicans.
It is quite strange that a huge decrease in Co2 emissions resulted in global highs.
Yeah, almost as if the damage doesn't immediately go away like magic...
>Muh most days over 100
And still not close to being the hottest summer. Go move your ass to the midwest if you wanna be cold so bad.
While complaining about heat is a very womanly thing to do, I feel I must remind you that you will never be a woman.
>Texans understand that summer is hot
>Texans must be brown and Mexican
Frick off tourist. Breakfast burritos are delicious
>breakfast burritos
>not breakfast tacos
you're not really texan
You're a fricking moron
Definitely some californian shit to move to texas and then think it's the end of the world because it's july.
>Global Warming
go back california homosexual
You couldn't navigate your way out of a paper bag let alone find any meaningful solutions to the massive government failures Texas has had in the past decade i.e. killing over 1,000 people in the cold over like 2 inches of snow
Sad!
>killing over 1,000 people in the cold
wow that number seems to grow every time i hear it, soon it'll be 6 milly
Yes, and I'm sure inflation is ONLY 10% !
moron holy shit you're better than this
You're pretty bad at math, huh?
quit changing the subject
>Global warming
you actually buy that crap?
>This entire state was once the ocean floor
For real?
Is this why I use to find tiny seal shells in the dirt back when I use to dig things up as a kid?
yes
265 million years ago, silly
Pretty much all land on earth was ocean floor at some point. But no, the sea fossils are way below you were probably just finding old snail shells.
Real Country (she)riff is arrested for illegally seizing assets from poor country bumkins that still voted for his ass

in helotes/SA there is an outdoor range called bullethole. It has a 300 outdoor rifle range, pistol, private stalls and you can rent 50 cals and machineguns.
>nothing larger than .44
>no "rapid fire" lmao
>no brass pickups allowed
texas ranges really are shit lol
Eagle Gun Range put a rope around my gun because it had a binary in it...
Either A) you're full of shit
Or B) you're a fricking moron for going along with it
Why the frick would you give them your patronage?
I didn't lol. As soon as they showed me the rope, I left and got my range fee refunded. The rope was so short I couldn't even stand while shooting.
Good job not funding their Fudd moronation.

Bullseye in Duncanville
>Handgun only
>Nothing hotter than 357 Mag.
>Brass case only & no bimetal bullets
>Asked about 10mm and told nope
Anons, if I started a private club in an area central to Austin and San Antonio, would this be something people would be interested in? The ONLY good range in the area?
it's shocking there's nothing out in dripping springs
I'm in the DFW area. I just want a range that lets me shoot my cheap FMJ .308 and isn't indoor. Is that too much to ask?
Yes, which is why I have to drag my ass an hour out of town just to go shooting...
The only non-gay public range I knew of in DFW was out in Crowley, and I think the Pandemic killed it. My buddy loves B-tactical out in Royse City. He claims they let him shoot from his truck at the private bay. Sounds based, but I haven't been there yet myself. Royse City is like 90 minutes for me which is a b***h.
the fact people in the current year still dont know about the few great places to go mean you shouldnt bother being told the answer.
Thanks for the insight anon. The fact that I now pretty much know about every fricking range from Kerrville to Bastrp, Jourdanton to Waco and they ALL FRICKING SUCK means your standards must be pretty low as to what a good range is, so you're right, I probably don't want YOUR answer at this point.
The further away from the city you go generally the better.
Not "legal," but wonder about six shipping containers 3x2, sound proofed inside, ventilation fans, lighting, and stops downrange. If you had say five acres how long before they shut you down?
Ranges don't generally allow rapid fire because dipshits send rounds to the moon trying to be Rambo.
For every one competent shooter there's a dozen newbies and five fricktards that do stupid shit.
My grandparents lived a mile away from a popular range and a round took out their A/C unit ... another went through their window.
This is why good ranges get closed down.
Buy your own land, vet everyone, or find a more private range that has standards.
this sucks, but is true. If the nfa ever gets repealed imigine the flood of videos of morons at public shoting ranges spraying the ceilings/sky. also your spacing irritates me.
