Tent recommendations

Can someone recommend a low profile 2 person tent that packs real small?
I'm planning a climbing trip so I'm gonna need to bring all of my gear with me and camping is a bit of a legal grey area in my country and you might get fined based on how the renger feels that day so stealth and portability are a must, also I'd like it to be fully closed, no tarp tent bullshit, I have already woke up with hogs outside my tent and fuckers scare me, bonus point if it's for poor people.

Kelty solo is nice. I have an older version and after 6 seasons it's still going strong. I never take all the stakes so it reduces the overall weight.

Just get a nice silpoly trekking pole tent from one of the many European cottage vendors.

Tendies?! I love tendies! You guys like tendies too?
Also a tent won't protect you from a hog it's literally a paper thin piece of nylon kek

        T. larper who never woke up to a hog sniffing their face
Most animals *can* get into a tent, but they won't, because they have no reason to. Under a tarp, you may wake up to a hog sniffing your sleeping bag or backpack. In a tent it'll just sniff around the tent for a few minutes and lose interest.

tents are for fags - sleep under the stars, Bivys are all you need for serious storm emergency - if you literally can't handle a little rain go for a nylon tarp and make a hootch.
Hogs are better handled by not having food near your campsite - treat it like bear country (where a tent will do NOTHING); or if you are really paranoid setup a floss trip wire with some noise makers.

Ozark Trail 1P tent, fits me and my wife (6' & 5'6") and backpacks, pair f Klymit air pads.

Mine is orange, but they seem to make it in red now. Friend has similar tent from Big 5, it was $80, I feel like it came from the same factory as the walmart tent, with better zippers.

I only go like 2 or 3 times a year. Last I weighed it, it was just under 3lbs with rain fly and poles. I bought MSR ultralight stakes. Kinda funny having stakes (that I don't always use) that cost more than entire tent setup.

        >They all look like the Kelty solo
Why change a perfect design? The only thing they can do (and have been doing) is lighter materials...which is where you start to see the price breaks.

This tent design is awful if you are somewhere rocky and/or with hard ground that you cant get a stake in. They also take longer to set up than the dome style.

You tie off on the rocks, or logs. Tunnel tents are more than fine once you have the skill set to use them.

Off topic, but have you tried hammock camping. Very comfy. I'll never go back to a tent.

It’s tougher to be stealthy in a hammock. OP is European, so he has to stay low to the ground and hide behind shrubs and bushes. Also, most decent hammocks are made by smaller cottage companies, and there’s almost no cottage industry in Europe.

REI Quarterdome 2 is honestly great
doesn't pack super small, but it's rather light for the price
      buy second hand

Spend more on a nice sleeping pad and a quilt/ bag. A cheap camo tarp set low to the ground will protect you from the rain and keep you hidden. Thats all you need. Tents and hammock are over priced slop. You will wake up easier and be more aware of your surroundings without a tent. You will have an easier time fending off animals

What about those of us who live amongst a billion mosquitos at night? Open tarp won't cut it

nvm im retarded, bug net duh, I was thinking about getting the Altaplex from zpacks, I've camped in a hammock for a while but it always hurts my back/shoulders plus I'm starting to want to be on the ground at night anyway. But I'm interested in doing a tarp setup with a bug net, I've already got tarps but they are polypropylene, need to get some oilskin. But I'm going to at least try out the tarp setup once before putting 600$ into a tent

          Pic if you’re a poorfag.

Borah Gear, Mountain Laurel Designs, Yama Mountain Gear, Sea to Summit, and probably half a dozen other reputable brands make similar ones ranging from like $8 to $150 (if that; I think most are closer to $120 but I haven’t priced them in a while. Borah seems to be the “smart buy”; it’s on the cheaper side, made in the US (probably by Mexicans lol), and is fairly light.

          >but Anon, why go through the trouble of a tarp and a bugnet when you could just pitch a tent?
7x9 tarp with the heavier Borah bug bivy is 14.8oz and like $190. You sacrifice wind protection and a little rain protection though.

I ended up getting a 10x10 sylnylon with a similar net, do you have a recco for a 'bathtub' tarping to put under sleeping pad? I can also just make one from polypropylene tarp I have

The 3F Gear Lanshan 2 looks like a pretty smart buy if you’re poor. It’s always touted as one of those rare gems that’s cheap, good, and light.

Juneau area rained deluge on me for nine straight days without relief recently. The tent let me dry off better than a tarp ever could and it blocked the horizontal sleet and wind. No fire possible. 2.5 lbs carry was well worthwhile, cope seeth dialate.
