Would the money you save on ammo offset the price?

        Anonymous

It would take a while. I've been considering a Hi-Point carbine to offset how fricked .223/5.56 is and will continue to be for the rest of the year at the very least and it's at least a couple hundred rounds if not 1k-1.5k rounds of 9mm shot from your new Hi-Point carbine to equal out just continuing to shoot 5.56 comparing cheap name brand non-reman range 9mm to Winchester 62gr green tip/PMC 62gr. I want to say this lever action would easily be somewhere 10k rounds or more to equal out to continuing to shoot an AR in .223/5.56. At least that was as of a month or two back.

        Anonymous

Let us say the cost difference between 9mm and .38/.357 is like $0.20 and let us say you bought a nice $1,200 lever gat chambered in .357. You'd need to fire 4,000 rounds before you'd break even and every round past that is $0.20 saved. That is of course assuming you'd even put 4,000 rounds through a lever gat in your life time

And it could shoot 40SW. Which, yeah, even almost every 10mm autoloader can do, but it'd be like a 44Mag or 357Mag lever gun shooting 44spl or 38spl.

        Anonymous

we do it with rolling blocks already, we SHOULD do it with trapdoors, and also martinis, and vetterlis and all those cool old guns, except in pistol rounds

          >we do it with rolling blocks already
Only 357, maybe 44 too, last I checked the uberti catalog. I'd love rolling blocks in modern calibers like 223 and 6.5, or even 308 and 300 WIN MAG with a reinforced action. 7mm Mauser rolling blocks proved you can make a reliable rolling block with a rimless full power cartridge.

  14. 1 month ago

I hope they'll be rated for the pressure of a bunch of 9mm bullets forced back into their cases. It'll be the opposite of the LCR locking up from 9mm jumping their crimp

  15. 1 month ago

I thought lever action had to be rimmed cartridges because rimless wouldn't feed right? Are there any issues with feeding for this?

      Anonymous

There's no reason why rimless cartridges can't work in a lever action. They would actually benefit from the tube mag not needing to be sized to accommodate the rim.

      Anonymous

Lever gats can feed them, the opposite is the issue, autoloaders have troubles with rimmed cartridges

This is proof Henry made a PCC in 9mm because there is no longer a practical need for an autoloading magfed 357 carbine. 9mm is based. If you cannot understand you're NGMI.

You would be forced to acknowledge this inevitably, the gap you want to fill with your underwood loads isn't a necessary thing to do in the face of so many other options... and 9mm innovation. in the 2000s those 357 ARs made sense.

because it's an rimless lever action with a side loading gate. The significance of that is not so much 9mm, but all the other calibers that could go in it. and other than 22, it's about as cheap as it gets to shoot for lever actions.
