Tall people in the military

How do tall people do in the military? And when they enlist, how do drill sergeants even talk to them?

Probably because the dude she is standing next to is 7ft tall.

There is an unusual instant attraction between short women and tall men. I cant describe it but if you're tall and you meet a short woman your hit rate is an easy 100%.

The drill sergeants make fun of the trademark horseface all tall people have.

They think they have shitty genes and that a stretched out horseface can correct them but no. They will have either midget or lanket babies, like the roll of a dice.

A 6'5 man with a 5'1 woman would produce 5'11-6'2 sons, on statistical average.
But I think mixing genetic extremes is more likely to create genetic faults, as you said.

Short women don't want you to know this, but they are actually free if you are tall, you can just pick them up and take them home with you.
I have dozens of incredibly short women in my basement.

I didn't know about this until an anon from here posted about how he realized how he only became an officer because he wanted to become a father, and that time a juniorish officer blew a senior officer's brains out because he wanted him to send his men into a death trap.

Norwegian here, I’m 6’8” (203cm) and I did conscription after high school. Norwegians are pretty tall on average so I never had problems getting uniforms in my size but yeah it was pretty uncomfortable getting in and out of vehicles and it sucked when we had to dig fighting positions because you stand in the bottom of the trench so it has to be digged like 175cm deep. I was Infantry and I did not apply for the professional Army because I wanted to go and study but I think I would be fine if I continued in the Army. On thinking about the topic I think it’s much worse if you are short as a soldier because every bit of equipment in the Army is long and heavy
    >belt fed machine guns
    >mortar tubes
    >tripods
    >rocket launchers
    >skis
Jesus actually I think being shorter than 185cm would be hell. I don’t know how short countries do it. I’m 95kg and carrying 30kg in a rucksack sucked. Holy frick being like Italian at 170cm 60kg would be like hell on earth and their legs are so much shorter so they’re taking 1.5 steps for every one of my steps.

Being shorter doesn't actually mean weaker. There's like an optimal height for deadlifting and it's somewhere in the middle. Having too long of a spine makes lifting harder, actually.

Lmao and here comes the turbo-manlet cope.
Listen here little bud 99% of manlets are not "lifters" or "strongman" like the gym incel coppers.
They are your usual dyels only smaller because in infantry you need alot of cardio to walk long distances and the muscle body weight you would need to pull the same weight as a 6ft+ 200pound normal sized man would exhaust the average manlet.
Also in the military you don't often lift heavy objects unless you are a pog, you usually carry them on your body and your back.
Being a tall chad is not ideal but a minimum requirement for an efficient modern warfighter.

Average height of USMC infantry is 5'8". Average height of Ranger bat is 5'9". Average height for SF is 5'8". None of these trends toward higher average, the opposite is true. While correlation does not equal causation, more than average height seems to remove applicants from the pool, not increase chances of success. Of course, as a salty NCO the answer is obvious: make the trainee address the DS from the front-leaning rest position.

Yeah because of the Hispanic influx the average height in the US is what now?5.7,5.6?
If anything it should be telling that the average height is still slightly above the average.
In Europe where you have countries with average heights of 5.11 and 6 ft you can dod the math for the average soldier. Its about what is available not what is ideal unfortunatly.

Can you even shoot the FN MAG from the standing position if you were patrolling and had to react to contact? If you had to clear houses could you even hold it and move with it as part of the fireteam? I’ve seen some of the female conscripts fail to shoulder it and they were approximately your height and weight. No offence I am impressed by your determination

It’s fine, you have to be sure to keep fit and eat enough which isn’t a problem for most. Depending on position and age.
Instructors will talk to you like everyone else, you might get unwanted attention if your height makes you stand out.

If you are talking about intimidation you kind of get used to the intensity anyway. You don’t fear the man you fear the punishment. If they are very good you will fear disappointing them.

I'm 6'9" in the USAF. Some drill instructors I could only see their hats when they are yelling at me. My uniforms fit quite well now and I work an office job with a nice chair. Never had to fly outside of commercial, but there is a DoD travel reg that will pay for a seat upgrade if the traveller has "special needs" which height qualifies for.

The military is WAY more accommodating towards tall people now, provided you are smart enough to go into a good career field like Intel or comm. Any kind of combat arms, maintenance or blue collar trade work. You're gonna suffer on many levels.

6'2 and I was the third tallest guy in my platoon of 54 in basic. We're generally better at marches but worse at pull ups and climbing rope. Generally speaking the height isn't a huge benefit and it's barely acknowledged. Some guy who's been 5 years in paratroopers isn't going to be treating some 18 year old moron any less like shit because
    >Muhh height
Generally speaking height helps in actual infantry. The ratio between your pack and your own weight gets better with height. Horrid for vehicles. Any kind of APC or even just utility vehicle will be terrible comfort wise and you'll never be able to stretch your legs. Basically bars you from being in a tank (don't know about american military the Abraham's is big so idk). Also depending on what army you join prepare to have nothing in your size or almost always get the older version of the kit because it's the only type in your size

I'm 6'5" and was an absolute lanklet at 175 going into marine boot camp. They just called the tallest guy "Lurch" but they did put me on double rations to bulk up. It was pretty sweet because the drill ranks are based on height so I was at the front but in the back in 4th squad so any of my frick ups during drill were harder to see. It was also piss easy on hikes in Pendleton, little end in the back was always lagging behind, the fricking manlets. Senior DI said I'd never be a squad leader though because I'd always be running away with the squad because of my stride
